tl;dr - writing plays is a bop and I’m lowkey fire
so waaaay back in December we had a theatre assignment to write a 10 minute play. And I did, but didn’t do a ton of effort or anything because I was SO busy.
well.
there was a 10 minute playwriting contest so my director was like might as well submit them
so I did
Mid January they were like “you’ve advanced! Rewrite it and then move up to the next league”
so I did
then they were like “welcome to semifinals, give it another rewrite!”
so I did
then they were like “welcome to finals give it one last rewrite!”
so I did
then they were like “congrats you got second! We aren’t paying you lol but you get a recording of theatre students doing it”
so I was like huzzah, that’s brilliant
and then tonight they sent me the recording
first of all, literally ON THE FLOOR LAUGHING one guy is definitely gay and it’s also so embarrassing
my director is gonna show the class tomorrow so…that’ll be L O V E L Y
and second…
this feeling is addicting. I want to spend the rest of my life hearing my words in other people’s mouths.
i want to hear audiences laugh at a play I WROTE.

xD did you see the SU where i said it was based of 1 because he’s hot? I’ve been rewatching it with my little brother because he wanted to see it but my parents wouldn’t let him watch it alone and I literally forgot everything because the first time I watched it I binged the whole thing in 3 days while my entire family was out of town would recommend then would recommend going back and watching every scene with 1

Heehee this is one of a few things I have right now that I think could turn into more than just scenes that’s kind of how a lot of my recent writing is feeling. I want to write longer things but even when I have the time, sitting still is…difficult. Also, writing is such a solitary activity, especially without an audience.

unfortunately puppy means I will still be broke forever, even working 25 hours/week all summer

IM SO EXCITED he gets to come home next Saturday and he’s so sweet and I’m paying for all the things so he really is mine and not a family dog and I can skip school and hang out with him all the time
except when I’m working

Caretaker: Consider this a…prologue. Yes. Use that as an excuse for why it’s only dialogue. Or that most media I’ve been consuming has been plays and tv. Or that I’ve also been doing more playwriting today. Or just that it fit, and if you’ve read The Slow Regard of Silent Things, you know what I mean. Also, I might write more that takes place after a CHOOONKY time skip, with a little more world building and emotions and just…the things I usually write. anyway may my precious broken friends bring you joy

Hmmmm I came home for lunch and now I don’t wanna go back
on the one hand, all I have left it theatre
on the other hand, it’s 2 1/2 hours of theatre
and on my third hand (the one that’s growing out of my left knee) I still reaaaally need to talk to my director
but I could stay here and mow the lawn and take measurements for the kennel I’m building next week or go for a bike ride or or or
maybe I skip my first theatre class and go to my second
the first one has less friends
but they’re more likely to do some busywork assignment I’ll have to make up
help
oh and I’m writing a thing based on One from stranger things because he’s scudding HOT

Wow I forgot that this is the demographic of people on here…
guys I barely go to school at this point
i go when I know it matters and that’s it
(talked to my director, finally…I told him I wasn’t going to spend my senior year in the class you don’t have audition for. He got it but didn’t change his mind, so since I won’t be in any classes it doesn’t make sense for me to be on the presidency. So officially done with theatre, unless I decide to do mama mia next spring but I probably won’t.)

what kind of person says “I want you in my program, don’t miss out on these other opportunities, we’ll make it work”
then doesn’t cast you because you’re too busy(?!?!)
so you make your peace with it, and plan next year and get excited about it and you’re ready.
then he announces that the class you didn’t make it into is doing post-societal Hamlet
and then he puts you on theatre presidency??
like what the scudding light-cursed goats
does he want to market all the shows I won’t be in??
do you want me to lead a team I’m not a part of?
I could be in a midsummer night’s dream and mama mia. But I’m not going to waste an entire year in a class with people who don’t care.
i need to talk to him and make a plan and lock in but dude what the scud just communicate please and thank you?

I’m sorry, Cin. That’s such a difficult situation to be in. I’ve always considered myself to be lucky as far as all this stuff goes—he’s mega organized (the rehearsal schedule for next April already exists and won’t change), he puts on good shows, he’s LDS, and his wife, our choreographer, is literally my heart and soul. She’s a professional actor and he used to be an equity director, and everything is run very professionally. For the most part, he’ll choose a hard worker over someone with talent who doesn’t care, but…
well, guess that’s done with now.
i don’t know. I honestly don’t know, but at the very least it’s experience and what wonderful opportunities there’ve been because of it.

i was doing stats homework
got partway through a full length practice AP test
i might be cooked
but i actually have a bit of hope of passing, even if I’m on the lower end
and then I got distracted and made more earrings cause I’m just a girl but worth it
i wrote a pretty good chunk today, I’ll probably put it up tomorrow, to anyone who’s been reading my king queen wanderer villain stuff it’s that world

Oh i’m for sure done with theatre and also getting a puppy
