  1. "Thanks!"
  2. I'd like to be involved!!
  3. I agree, it can be difficult to start with WoK (I know from experience lol). It can be pretty slow, but the ending is worth it imo. Some of his other books like Mistborn are a lot faster paced, so if you find yourself wanting to try something else of his, you could start there. But anyway, Welcome to the Shard!! We're glad you're here. Do you have a favorite kind of bagel?
  4. Life update + random thoughts I guess (It's kind of . . . angsty? idk i'm tired and stressed):

-school is hard and I am always tired.

-There's like this AP art gallery/ art contest thing I have to go to after school today . . . It's a competition and there's prizes and food and stuff but I don't really feel like going. My painting looks kind of dinky (yeah that's the best word to describe it) compared to everyone else's, and it's making me feel very impostor syndromey. I know I'm not supposed to compare myself to others, and I genuinely don't care about winning, but it still makes me feel kind of silly being there idk. Maybe I'll feel better about it later, plus they promised there'd be food so I guess it's worth going for that.

-My grades are dropping because I missed some school, but I should be able to fix it before the end of the semester. Doesn't stop me from being stressed about it lol.

-The plan was to start ACT prep at the beginning of December, and I did do some research on studying, and I even checked out the study manual. But I'm always exhausted when I get home from school . . . now it's Dec 6th and I haven't started at all and so I'm feeling down about that. It just feels so impossible rn with everything else I have to do. Part of it just doesn't want to do it all honestly. I know from the end of level testing last year that if I were to take it without studying at all I'd still get a decent score. Studying would just help me get an above average score so I can get a good scholarship. I don't even know if I want to go to college, but I thought it would be dumb to pass up the opportunity. But now the stress of it all makes me want to just completely give up.

-I recently found a new fandom I'm enjoying, so that's making me happy.

-One of my half year classes that ends in a little less than a month sucks . . . I'm certainly glad it's ending but it's still stressful. The teacher didn't really actually teach us anything (I could rant about how terrible the class was set up for hours), and now at the end of the term we have to:

1- build a complicated final project that requires massive amounts of knowledge and skill that I don't have and the class didn't teach me.

2-Take an end of level exam thing that includes things on it we were never taught, or only briefly covered. (This isn't an exaggeration, I'm friends with the one kid in that class who knows what they're doing, and they told me that even they had no idea what the questions were).

I should be able to manage a passing grade if I flunk both things which is good, but it certainly won't be a good grade. I do know that if I get a C or B, it won't drop my GPA very much at all so at this point I'm having a hard time caring. I just don't think getting a higher grade is worth the stress this class causes me.

-My backpack fell apart and annihilated some of my hair clip thingies with it but that's okay I guess.

-I told my parents (very briefly because that's all I could handle) about how stressed I was yesterday and they were super sweet about it so that was nice.

-The Muppet Christmas Carol is a cinematic masterpiece.

-I've been really enjoying my financial literacy class I've had to take this year. I expected it to freak me out because thinking about the future and being an adult generally terrifies me. But this class is making it seem less scary, I actually understand things now I guess, and I feel much more prepared for the future. Facing your fears kind of works maybe?

-Did I mention how tired I am because I actually am always tired (at least mentally)

  5. Herman just shrugged. "Gooooooblin," Jert whispered dramatically.
  6. "I'll take the strength test."
  7. "Oh nice! I'm still new around here, so I haven't met everyone yet."
  8. Herman seemed rather surprised she was giving all of the jewels now, but didn't object. "She don't sleep a wink!" Jert exclaimed. "I been watching her every night, she's a goblin in disguise for sure."
  9. "Nice, where're you from?"
  10. "Three Mica," Herman grumbled, "She was gonna give us three Mica each! We're professional soldiers, not farmhands . . . when she hired us in town she hinted at paying us a fortune, but denied it later." "And those jewels you got there . . . now that's a fortune," Jert said.
  11. W O A H guys a real knight radiant!!
  12. He nodded, very business-like. "I'm Harmon, that's Jert," He gestured to the shorter soldier, who was probably a second in command. "The rest can introduce themselves later." Muriel and Graces discussion was getting more animated, at least on Graces end. She seemed frustrated, and spoke loudly, but was still far enough away you can't make out any of it. Muriel just stood there, . . . being Muriel. Harmen took the opportunity of a thorough distraction and jumped right into telling all he knew about the pair. "They hired us at the port," he began, "And we thought we had had a stroke of luck, a nice rich lady looking for an escort would be good for business y'know? She could pay us really well." "But she didn't!" Jert interjected, "She ain't paid us nothing yet." Herman ignored him. "Lady Grace promised to pay us when we finished the job and got her home, which seemed fine at first . . . but as we journeyed her temperament proved to be . . . less than agreeable." "She's a witch!" "I wouldn't say that, Jert, but we've dealt with bad customers before and come out on the short end of the deal. I wanted to be certain we weren't getting swindled so I confronted her about it, plus it was a bit suspicious that she refused to make a down payment." "A witch and a swindler." "Jert please. Anyway, I got her to tell me how much she specifically planned on paying us and it . . . wasn't as much as she implied before. I convinced the boys to see this through so we could get at least something, out of this mess, but you're offering quite a bit more. I had never heard of her, or Muriel before I took the job, otherwise I might have been more cautious." "I had," Jert insisted, "but I knew 'er by a different name which is why we got ourselves swindled. The Witch of Caerlon, they call 'er, a terrible menace who leeches money magic from any who cross her path. An' that Muriel one is her minion, I'm sure of it, I'll bet she's actually a goblin in disguise." "That is . . . certainly a theory, but I don't think we should be jumping to conclusions." Herman gave Jert a hard look. "Anyway, that's all the information we've got lass."
  13. "Lol, how're you?"
  14. The short one went silent and glanced at Herman, who was clearly the leader. "Let's make out deal first, then I'll share what information I have." He held his large weathered hand up, so she could shake it. "We get the riches, and you get help finding a way out of this, sound good?"
  15. Welcome to the Shard!! Do you have a favorite kind of bagel?
  16. lol I live in Utah and dislike all of the red stick thingies-- no matter what brand or whatever it is people argue about (They all taste like wax, in my opinion)
  17. "An' you're thinking we . . . uh . . . leave our lady companions behind?" the short one asked. A most of the soldiers had gathered around by now, but none of them called for Muriel to stop things. It appeared the jewels were worth far more than whatever Grace was paying them. And it wasn't much of a surprise that they were less than loyal. Harmen sat down on a barrel, "We'd have to sneak away, that Muriel one scares me."
  18. She eats it happily, and takes notes in her book as she does so. "Hi! Mike who's this? What's your name?"
  19. "Hmmm," the guard scratched his chin as he considered it. A few nearby soldiers who had seen a flash of the jewels gathered around. Whist glanced back at Muriel, hoping she wouldn't turn around and notice. "Are you tryn' tah bribe just Harmen," one soldier on the shorter side whispered, "Or is this a deal for 'is companions as well?" This one was, in fact, missing teeth.
  20. "mmmh sounds good!" She pulls out her notebook and starts doodling while she waits.
  21. The soldier grins. Surprisingly, he has all of his teeth. "And how much pocket change are we talking lass?" The heads of several other lesser soldiers turned to watch. Muriel is discussing something with Lady Grace by her carriage, distracted enough.
  22. "G'morning Mike!" She plops down at a table, "Wha's for breakfast?"
