  2. "Your friend has been released," the man informed her through muffled cloth. Then he left.
  3. An hour or so later, a man fully covered in thick cloth unbound her and left her with food and water, then turned to leave.
  4. He left the room in darkness once more.
  5. "Well, I will leave you here. You may or may not be moved to a more typical cell before your trial."
  6. "Perhaps that is for the best."
  7. "Due to the limited damage his crime actually caused, he could still be let off given the confession, though such unpunished instances can harshen the punishments for other crimes, and he would be kept on watch."
  8. "He is not unsafe."
  9. "Tayen already admitted to his involvement."
  10. "Then you certainly do lie to me. Pity."
  11. "Strange. You both were seen there, him in particular by a certain commander. There were also reports of a horribly burned man with his general description moving through the town immediately after."
  12. "We will see. He is noted as a suspect in a case of arson at a military complex in town." He looked her in the eye, as though expecting her to say something on the matter.
  13. "He will likely be released, of you're telling the truth. Though there is still a possibility he will be charged as an accomplice."
  14. "What involvement does your companion have with you and your actions? You suppose him to be immortal, though he has demonstrated no abnormalities."
  15. "There will not be lenience just because you consider yourself to be above this."
  16. "Regardless, you will still have to be tried for your known crimes."
  17. "That's generally not how mangling a body works."
  18. "Killing someone is the best way to help?"
  19. "I think you ought to explain the dead body of your working partner."
  20. "Well, you are ostensibly more experienced and intelligent. Not to mention, you threatened that officer's life. And are associated with multiple other crimes and potential crimes."
