    An echo of hope from a distant horizon.

    I plunged down below, but could see the sun rise, and

    Swam up to meet it, with watery eyes.

    The tears, they all mixed as I saw the sun rise.

     

    Our sky's yellow sun is reliable, yes,

    Predicting the darkness a quite simple task. 

    The sun that I saw through the stinging abyss

    Has been hiding a while, but has risen for this.

     

    The fear and fatigue will bite at me still.

    The sea's swells and waves bring a sobering chill.

    But opposite it is a warmth and a light

    That will be there, even when set out of sight.

     

    For now, I'm alive, and time marches on

    With no music or rhythm, but regardless, a song. 

    We never can know what the future will bring, 

    But for now, I'm just trying to live on and sing.

    Happy Eclipse Day, everyone!

    Remember that even if the sun is mostly covered, use eclipse glasses! Even at 90+% totality, it can and will damage your vision.

    This is awesome, I like it a lot. At least to me, it feels kind of like something that could have happened to my Death when he was new to his job. Overall, it's very interesting and thought-provoking
