  1. “The noodles don’t have a taste,” he informed her. -
  2. Aden nodded in agreement. “Told you,” he mumbled through his food. “Spice makes everything better.” -
  3. That was really loud, Ian thought, and went to check out the source.
  4. "Oh, okay. See you later, then," he told her cheerfully, grabbed the girl, and vanished with the crack of smoke.
  5. "Kohei. Cute." "Good question. Would you like to answer that, Keys?" He shot those last words over his shoulder at the girl. She glared through a veil of frizzy nut-brown hair. Fire erupted between them and the edge of the chasm. "I'll make you a deal," Nemesis said, voice echoing. "I'll leave the boy alone, along with one of you. Just hand over the other one, and I'll be on my way. I'll free Keys, too, if that's something you care about."
  6. "Yeah, yeah. Remind me how we became friends." He stuck his tongue out at her. - He nodded.
  7. Nemesis tilted his head, crouching to jump off and down to the ground. He grabbed the girl and pulled her down too. She yelped, but at the last second, an orange, fiery light flashed to catch her. Nemesis needed no such aid. "Who are you? I've never seen you before." "Precisely. Which is why I thought I'd show up." for clarification, it's the dude from before--- the fire one Symbol constructed. Not the actual Greek god.
  8. "Yes," called a voice above and behind. Nemesis grinned down from a ledge, standing next to a girl who looked very, very annoyed. "Welcome to the Underworld."
  9. He sputtered . "You're lucky I'm a gentleman and am above such pettiness." - She nodded, satisfied. "Wait," Bat said. "Are we going somewhere or something?" "Yes. I'll explain more in spoilers... Three should be enough, maybe?" She closed her eyes for a moment,
  10. - The air grew even hotter. He heard a faint echo down the corridor, though which way was unclear.
  11. "Hey!" He protested. "Just an eye roll? I'm offended." - Bat looked up at Lady Bug. "I'm interested," he admitted. "What do you have in mind?" "I have a bone to pick with the only person he seems to care about." She shrugged. "I don't claim to know his mind. Perhaps it's all an act to fuel a continued existence, since she's willing to consistently interact with him. But so far, it's all you've got." She smirked. "She won't put up much of a fight, as long as we don't kill her." Bat looked confused. "You want to--- wait. You're gonna take Symbol hostage?" "Well... something like that." She raised an eyebrow at Tam. "Are you coming, dear?"
  12. He gave her a teensy dollop. - She tsked. "Can't even define the art you practice. That's too bad." She turned to Bat. "I know one way to get to him. My desires happen to align with your needs at the moment." She leaned forward, eyes intense. "But everything we say, he knows. I have no reason to hurt you. All I want is to use you in order to achieve what you wanted to do already." Bat glanced at Tam, then hesitated.
  13. He dumped a lot of sauce on his. "How much do you want?" - She folded her arms. "No. First, define 'manipulative'. A broad definition will do."

  15. He went to find something to drink. - "I am not being manipulative," Lady Bug snapped. "Just because you see something you don't like doesn't mean it's automatically an action that should be considered morally wrong. I'm telling the truth from an angle that benefits me. I'm not manipulating anyone--- you should know that, being a veteran of manipulation yourself."
  16. “Aw, that’s not fair! I’ve never burned your taste buds off.” He got the feeling he was lying. And indeed he was. - She folded her arms. “You need a way to get Bat’s people back.” Bat suddenly started paying close attention.
  17. “Pepper is GOOD. You’re just uncultured.” - “Pff, by a couple decapages.”
  18. “A little spice is good with everything.” - Lady Bug huffed. “Of course you don’t. Gracious, the characters these days.”
  19. He dumped in some pepper. - “Cool?” She said flatly. “Am I wrong?”
  20. “Aw.” - “That aspect of her nature is gone. But her nature remains.” She leaned forward. “You need an upper hand against Rebus— or you will eventually.”
  21. “Hey! Why’d you break it?” - “Dead,” Lady Bug snorted. “No, dear, she’s very much alive.”
  22. “Of course,” Aden dismissed. - “Ow,” Lady Bug said. “First, rude. Second… how do you feel about Ruia?” “Dead or missing?” “That’s not what I mean, Rebus.” She stood up and ran her fingers over the wall again. “To the end of keeping an Author interested, a little… fluff can be extremely productive. Make the journey a little more enjoyable.” She paused, then continued. “Fluff like character moments, secrets, building their interests and desires that aren’t shown on their way to their main goal. Scenery.” Rose decided to wait and see for now.
  23. “Yay!” He grinned and found the sauce. - Fly slammed the door, but Lady Bug caught it with her foot. “Now, now. That’s no way to treat an old friend, is it?” She twirled her cane and stepped inside. “Scenery.” Rose squeaked.
  24. They did. There was. - Fly opened the door. “Hello,” Lady Bug said. “May I come in?”
