He pet Feather instead. “That would be good. I can teleport us in. You might want some kind of mask, though.” He paused. “Thanks.” “Okay… just… please don’t hurt her.”

The elders prolly would have been checking on her, but… you know.” He shrugged, stepping over to where he’d left the boot snake to see if it was still there and if it would maybe like to be his friend.

Hehe. “Yeah.” He pulled up his sleeve to examine his new tattoo. Was it just him, or did it look a little fainter? Bat blushed. “I… don’t think I am.” “Indeed.But perhaps, if you can convince your author of your own merits, his favor would turn toward you.” She swirled her glass of water, examining him thoughtfully. “Where do you come from, Morbius?”
