  1. “Raising my family.” He pulled out his pistol and rubbed it. What was with this strange place?
  2. He stared. “Uh… no, I do not know.”
  3. Oh, but she did. You see, this rabbit only ate people who noticed her. As a matter of principle. Striking Terror into hearts and whatnot.
  4. “I…” he swore. “I never should have taken that dumb job.” “Your WHAT just exploded?”
  5. The bunny decided this was a good thing and stopped worrying about whether she would eat her.
  6. He came over. “What are you doing? What is this place? What happened?” Mirth? What happened? @SpiritOfWrath
  7. He groaned, rubbing his temples. “What…”
  8. Eep he’s gonna be uh anyway off we go
  9. Heh, you’re welcome. Oh, eek. Bad.
  10. “Uh……. I think this might be your fatal flaw. What’s that rabbit?” “Weird. Kinda cool. What, you think I was scared?” She had been scared, but she didn't need him to know that.
  11. The idea of Mars colonies scares me.

A whole new planet with people on it, bridging a gap previously impossible. Amazing! Imagine the politics! Imagine the technology! Imagine how far we’ll go from here!

    Imagine… anything.

Because, suddenly, nothing’s out of reach.

Humanity as a species would grow to immense proportions, with the possibility of reaching ever farther out into the universe.

Human as an organism is suddenly so much smaller. A single person thinking beautiful thoughts is swallowed up in a singular species accomplishing beautiful things. The stars would no longer be the realm of dreamers like me. Instead, they’d be given over to the thinkers like Glass. Anywhere you look is suddenly just real estate in a country without cars.

Someday, when I’m old and dying, maybe I’ll look out at the sky and miss the feeling of togetherness, bigness, cohesion that was… this. We’re all trapped on a planet, us tiny motes of dust. We’re all so insignificant, but we’re insignificant together. We band against the universe and her beautiful emptiness. What happens when we lose that?

Well, Earth becomes a tiny mother island, a control center, perhaps. Politics will change. Maybe we’ll have some tussles over independence. Maybe we’ll spread so far and discover so many things and become a bazaar of bizarre cultures to marvel over.

    And a single man?

    Well…

Every Septimus Warren Smith shrinks smaller than a dust mite.

Every Caden Bosch, every Donald Zinkoff, every ME— we become nothing. Obsolete.

Who cares about thoughts? Who cares about pretty ideas or words on a page speculating the meaning of life when life itself is expanding at a fantastical rate?

Who cares about us when there’s no space to?

Nobody will want to read Vey’s silly talk about tasting stars. Nobody will be enthralled by Sheen’s idea of the Framework. Nobody will have TIME for us anymore— they’re busy synthesizing a chemical that will enable soil to be magically good for crop-growing.

There is so much magic in science, and so much beauty in it. But I was not born to see the magic humanity creates.

What happens to me when that’s all there is?

im sorry this is prolly really badly written but I was getting ready for bed and I needed to write this for some reason, so anyway uh Dont judge me please

I definitely feel like Wyrmie tackled this pretty well, but I have a couple small thoughts to add.

Like he said, our population is huge already, so (imo) does it really matter if it gets even bigger? You can't get to know every person on the planet, and it really comes down to what you do and how you interact with the people around you. Just because there are more humans, doesn't mean that individuals will suddenly start not mattering to each other.

We're still just people, and we're never going to be perfect- as a society or as individuals. Even if smarter people become more and more valued on a larger scale, creative and empathetic people will become more and more valuable, too. Not on a society-wide scale, but on more personal levels to the people around them, and with the things they create and give to the world. If you make something beautiful, it doesn't matter if you receive world-wide recognition for it, as long as it impacts the few people you are close to- like this SU, actually!

And maybe you feel differently. Maybe you want to have a bigger impact- but this is just me.

      *hugs*

  12. But iiiiiiiiii want to knowwwwww The bunny nibbled grass nearby.
  13. No!!! Tell mee!!!! The bunny edged closer anyway.
  14. What drastic measures?? I musta missed that!!!!
  15. Welp what now A bunny hopped toward her suspiciously, nose quivering.
  16. THAT’S SO COOL THO Hehehe rightttt
  17. “Thanks,” he said gratefully, and went to sleep.
  18. Bat flinched. I… I’m sorry. I’ll… I’ll leave you alone. He switched off the little radio and curled around himself, feeling suddenly like a dumb little kid who’d just broken a dam. He just… he couldn’t understand what reason in the whole entire world anyone would ever want to be alone.
  19. Poor Isenbard’s family……. He’s gonna be devastated Can his wife come? plz?
  20. WHAT’S MENTAL HEALTH Your know how to snow???
  21. Ash thought that her sister was lying about her financial destitution. Her only Feruchemical expenses were metal for her Nicrosilmind, not her addiction to oxygen or something more dangerous. Ash left Scadrial, joining rogues
  22. I won’t say anything at all, I promise. Tam, you don’t have to be alone. I… I don’t want you to be alone. She shrugged. “It’s normaler than this.”
  23. Yep! Rose keeps getting bit by snakes, though. And I lost half of my best numbing agent… He worried about her, though. Can I hug you, maybe? Just for a second, and then you can send me back? “Well…” he thought over it a little. “In the stories, good always wins, right? So maybe you should be good and you’ll win.” “His soul. He was the only soul we’d ever found in ages.” Bat sensed this. …Tam? Please, can I hug you?
  24. “Uh… I don’t think so.”
