Okokokok
let’s talk about The Extra’s Academy Survival Guide for a sec
1. the premise is cool. Dude gets dropped onto a videogame. But the twist— he’s a low-level villain, not the main character. So the premise is off to a decent start. But we all know the premise doesn’t make the webtoon.
2. The art is good. Duh. It’s a webtoon. Ofc the art is good. The characters are iconic and I rarely find myself mistaking a character for another one, or unable to remember who they are and what they’ve done in the past/why they’re important.
3. The language is translated, and a lil cheesy, but good. I rarely find glaring grammatical errors, which is huge. And it gets the point across, if in a slightly unwieldy way.
4. The world FEELS like a videogame. I dunno. Maybe that’s just me. But it feels limited in some areas and expansive in others, just like a videogame with a specific focus. Also, the stat stuff is super cool. I’m sure there’s a whole webtoon genre with that kind of stat stuff, but it’s not one I follow.
5. IT’S SO FREAKING CLEVER OH MY GOSH I’m in my reread before I continue on to the 10+ episodes I haven’t read, and I’m on 14 (oh scud I checked and there are like FIFTY I’m so excited :3), and I CANNOT GET OVER THE WAY THINGS PLAY OUT AND HOW THE MAIN PLOT GETS CHANGED EVERY NOW AND THEN AND JUST EVERYTHING TIES TOGETHER AND ITS SO NEAT AND AHHHH
6. They’re long episodes. We chillin’.
7. I love how the main character doesn’t yet seem to have like a major arc. He’s just an observer trying to make a life for himself. We watch the other characters and get hints of their identities and struggles and it’s awesome.
8. THE CHARACTERS AH LOOK AT YENNEKAR TELL ME SHES NOT A LIL BUNNY RABBIT

AND LORTEL LOOK AT LORTEL LOOK AT HOW SCHEMING AND EVIL SHE IS DHAKXJSNNSBXNSNAJRISJEHDDB

all that to say
go get a webtoon account and read it

20/20 on my first college-level essay in an actual college class
it's just a one page essay and the course is easy but I mean I haven't written an essay in like 6 months so

i'm tryna decide whether to eat dinner or whether to just... not
I think i'm gonna go at least see if we have anything I feel like consuming
we won't so I'll find smth to choke down anyway and go back upstairs and continue to be miserable

Glory by Bastille is still one of my all-time favorite songs
It feels so good to listen to but it hurts so bad
I think I have an idea why
Maybe this is why it's always been such an impactful song to me
In the end, it's about rejecting the delusions and not listening to the words for glory because in the end all the planes will leave
inconceivable and inevitable, leaving you right where you started, desperately clinging to things you know you should be watching fly away
I love both versions but the single version hurts more in the dead of night
