Don't listen to that voice." "Don't," she repeated. "Those are the thoughts of crazed lunatics who will do anything for drama. You want to maintain a healthy interpersonal relationship."

    ..... Uh... five last I checked. Two kids between five and ten tore through the hallway. "I'LL GET YOU, EVIL HOODLUM SCUM," the bigger one yelled. The smaller one shrieked, dashed past Mrs. Whitlock, and knocked over a lamp, which shattered. Nobody seemed to notice--- Mrs. Whitlock settled back on the couch and picked up her book again.

    Uh....... it, ah... Whitlock. "Nice to meet you too. Come in, come in!" She stepped back. The clear sound of something breaking sounded from deeper inside the house. Bat smiled at her, stepping through the doorway. Things were absolutely everywhere. Stacks of books, shoes, couch cushions, pillows...

    "Of course." He walked up the stone steps and knocked on the wooden door. The chaos inside momentarily paused. A shrill voice screamed "I'm not getting it!" and then all the noise resumed. Bat smiled to himself. His mother would sigh, set her reading glasses aside, and--- He was mildly surprised when she actually opened the door. She hadn't bothered to take off her glasses, though. She'd just pushed them down her nose. She was slightly shorter than her son, just old enough for gray to begin tinging her hair, which was clearly supposed to be in a bun but had mostly escaped. They had the same eyes. "Oh, Bat," she said, sounding mildly happy to see him. "Come in. Who's this?" OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooo

    He startled. “Yeah, yeah. I’m good.” Maybe he’d open that door and… and….. And what? He didn’t know what scared him, or what he was hoping for. “You sure you wanna come in? It gets kinda… rambunctious.”

    Haly solved this problem by putting a blanket over her head.

    The houses were smaller and more cramped here. Bat stopped in front of one. All the lights were still on, and the sound of raucous laughter and banging into things could be heard inside. Bat took a deep breath, not sure why he was hesitating.

    He jumped. “Wh- oh, yeah. Just great to be back. We’re almost there.” He turned down a smaller street.

    Theyre on the bridge to ut shoulda clarified, I’m just lazy He shrugged. “Our colony is a couple thousand. Not huge. Not tiny.” They got to the other side. The majority of the buildings were rock pillars cut away in some shape, less worked on than the buildings below, but still rather nice. Several people stared at Bat as they passed, but he didn’t seem to notice. Much of anything, really. He seemed hyper focused on the ground several feet in front of him at any given moment.

    "Yes. My family." They arrived in the cavern from before, split into levels. This time Bat started up the stairs--- a long flight of stairs that ended with a stone bridge to the top of three levels. I should draw a picture cuz I know that's convoluted but I'm not gonna.
