    Symbol searched the partially open pavilion for people. "Nobody's here," she reported. "Come on. Let's go up the stairs..."

    Nobody said anything. This was... creepy. Symbol shivered and stepped carefully towards an empty pavilion. "Hello?" She called. No reply. Her words echoed hollowly.

    Symbol headed toward the place where the lights were brightest. They emerged into a large courtyard. More pavilions, enclosed and open, were stacked on top of another, reaching to touch a very high roof. No shopkeepers were around, but at least some of the buildings looked like they could be stocked with items. Their footsteps echoed around the space. "It's so empty," Symbol said softly. "It's... too empty."

    She nodded and started in a direction sheltered from the rain. Something pushed up against her brain. She instinctively repelled it, but then hesitantly let it trickle through. ”We’re in the mountains,” she said. “A city in the mountains. Built by… by…” She tried, but she couldn’t remember anything else yet.
