personally, I most enjoy the theoretical of TTRPGs more than the actual gameplay. I love maxing damage and figuring out how to survive things that no one should be able to survive. For example, my brother and I were talking about how technically Prestidigitation can be used to make a nuke ("You chill, warm, or flavor up to 1 cubic foot of nonliving material for 1 hour." Note how there's no limit to how warm you can make it, so you can just make an atom super-heated and create a nuke.), and we realized that in order to survive that, you really only need 2 turns and to be a 7th level cleric. 1st turn cast Death Ward. 2nd turn, use prestidigitation to nuke. BBEG dead, party dead, world destroyed, only you survive. Mission successful.

See platypus, I'm the opposite. I love the story and collaborative imagination rather than the numbers, dice and mechanics which is awesome because ttrpg's have stuff for everyone and you can tailor a game to what YOU find fun and a table with different types of players can work so well together if there is good communication :D

personally, if I want a story, I read a book or watch a movie. If I want to change the story, I change books. but that exasperated sigh followed by the age-old, "What?" just makes my day :P
