I'm inclined to think that they are all from the same place, but that may not be Roshar... cant' wait to RAFO

For a non-a/Feruchemical gold compounder, you'd probably need to be careful when storing health. With a compromised immune system, if you did get sick, you'd have to burn some of that hard stored health just to beat that cold! I guess if anyone came into the room, you could just stop storing and revert to normal health... but still. You'd need to be careful!

I'm not sure that we reliably know this on a measurable scale. Is there an instance of Duralumin + pewter burn that we've seen? As Tarion stated in his post, with Szeth vs. Gavilar and Kelsier vs Haze killers, Stormlight seems very potent. As for Shardplate... we've only really seen what it's capable of in the hands of non-surgebinders. Normal people using it and powering it with stormlight from gems. In the hands of a KR whose capability/efficiency/power output with Stormlight (so far) as increased with each Ideal stated and adhered to, Shardplate could become even more fearsome. We also have this WoB talking about the levels of investiture on each world. This seems to me to indicate that the raw power of magics is higher on Roshar vs. Scadrial.

There are spears in that pile of bodies too...

Only till after WoR I believe. Worldcat should have the complete list of translations here though one of the covers above seems to be French to me, maybe it's Spanish. -

Those covers from France are very evocative as well. I really like them. -
It is exciting It is true that they could be from a select few planets, and maybe with the breaking of the Oathpact they don't have enough "umph" to access Shadesmar to world hop. I do think they know how to world hop, or they would have trouble returning to their "damnation" between desolations, though perhaps Honor himself transported them since he was still around at that point. I agree his ability to craft these deep worlds amazes me as well! You're in good company here and continue to speculate away!

Welcome and thank you for a very interesting first post! My gut says that they probably aren't from the different Shardworlds, but more that there are similarities across the worlds and magics. Like the Lightweaving from Yolen is both different and very similar to the Lightweaving on Roshar. My guess is that the Essences of the Heralds is associative to foci and magic elements from other Shardworlds due to the underlying nature of magic in the Cosmere, rather than because the Heralds are from those worlds. That said, I don't have evidence to that effect, it is just my gut. Otherwise, why would the Heralds remain on Roshar and not return to their own planets now that they are free of the Oathpact? There are a couple of other interesting similarities that I'm seeing quickly... Blood/Shash and then Bloodsealing on Sel, Foil/Kak and Metal on Scadrial... One other issue in them being from different shardworlds, we do have a WoB that says that Shash is Jezrien's daughter. GAH!! I can't wait for WoR to come out so I can read it finally

That sounds more like magnetism to me... you can move a magnet around on a metal plate, but it may be hard to pull off. I would think that with enough Lashing and gravity that even a hockey puck wouldn't be able to move on the ice, even if you completely removed surface tension. As to Herald powers and lists, I don't know that there is a single list itself, but if you look at the coppermind at each Herald's page, I believe there is information on theorized spotting in tWoK. I would assume that Herald powers work like the orders of KR they are associated with (i.e. 2 surges) but on a more powerful scale. Otherwise each KR order would be associated/blend of 2 Heralds for their associations.

But none of them were sure that it would last, only that it might. It might have meant abandoning Taln to an everlasting/never ending torment at Odium's hands... maybe it was shattered, and Odium only release Taln when he thought his final victory was assured already based on human's disunity and fracturing. Maybe he release Taln not to help stop it as part of the normal Oathpact, but to sow more confusion/strife ahead of the Desolation to come. Some over confidence on Odium's part that hopefully will come back to bite him. WoR spoiler

I think SIG wins because of the healing factor

That is gorgeous! -
On of Teft's thought quotes about Stormlight "perfecting the person" makes me think that it acts similar to the Super Soldier formula that created Capt. America It makes you a/the better/best physical version of yourself, but then also has magical healing going on!

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
Green Hoodie Mistborn replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
to update, it looks like I won't get a chance to make it down there afterall, it's midweek and a 2+ hr drive for me. I hope someone from the 17th Shard will make it to give us a report though! -
I'd have to go with Stormlight, it's far more versitle than Allomantic pewter... you get strength/balance/durability/healing and Surges depending on your order/spren ties.

Welcome! There are competing theories that Dawnshards are or are not Honorblades. We do know that they can bind any creature to them, but that's really it. In the link below Brandon has RAFO'd this question actually. Honorblades are definitely a type of Shardblade, and according to WoB HERE we have seen 3 types of shardblades in tWoK. The theory that Honorblades grant surgebinding has to do with Szeth. He isn't bonded to a spren, but he can surgebind. People think that his shardblade is actually Jezrien's Honorblade as it grants him the windrunner abilities. There is also a clue in the WoR spoiler chapters that have been released. EDIT: ninja'd Moogle!

Does Elhokar have the same powers as Jasnah & Shallan ?
Green Hoodie Mistborn replied to Laryna's topic in Stormlight Archive
We don't know for sure (there are some clues in the WoR pre-release chapters) what kind of spren to who Jasnah is bonded. I think that Elhokar and Shallan may end up with the same powers, should they both end up actually bonding and speaking their ideals! Or maybe something is just different with Elhokar and he can see the spren similar to how Rock can see them. Perhaps he's just seeing Renarin's spren! Doubtful I suppose since WoB is that Renarin is bound to a "type of spren no one has seen before." -
I only think it would slow him down if he hadn't yet reached his full potential as a KR, otherwise we've seen windrunner's wearing the full plate in Dalinar's flashbacks!

Dox didn't... After reading that Duel scene, I'm actually really worried that Adolin will develop powers... just not surgebinding. I'm afraid that in the end, he will end up as the champion of Odium, a Voidbinder and will have to fight Kaladin. I really hope I'm wrong on this though, I like Adolin!

Slight necro here, but I just found this thread. I must say that when I read this sample chapter, it actually really worried me for Adolin's character. It gave me great foreboding that he is going to become Odium's champion... being the best duelist in the army, embracing the Thrill and letting it drive him to brutality... I like him, but this makes me worry for him greatly.

Who has Alethkar's Shardblades?
Green Hoodie Mistborn replied to Shardlet's topic in Stormlight Archive
Huh, I always assumed the Elohkar's Blade/Plate were Gavilar's just with the plate re-painted. I'll have to go back and re-read the descriptions of those armors. -
I think it is spren (in the plural) personally, see my comments on page 1 for my theory on it, but I would caution that just because the word spren appears in the narrated text, doesn't necessarily mean that the narrator is infallible either. The really odd things about Cusicech aren't that it is or isn't a spren in my opinion, its everything else! Appearing at 7:46 am, facing the origin, cycling through innumerable human faces, draining those watching... It actually reminds me a little bit more of the visions that Dalinar goes through than a spren, at least in its regularity, sort of a set piece clue.
