NAME: Caerin Zivale (pronounced K - rin)
GENDER: Female. She/Her.
AGE (12-18): 17
SKILLS: She can whistle very well, she's gone fishing quite a few times, she's gotten good at braiding hair in complicated ways from the time before she cut it short, and she was apprenticed in medicinal practices.
BACKGROUND: Her uncle raised Caerin and her half-brother, Ayon, who is nine years younger than her. They share a father. Caerin's father (her uncle's brother) is often traveling the seas, and he didn't want to bring his two children with him and his crew on his own ship, otherwise they wouldn't receive proper education and, of course, he believed the risk of spores was too dangerous for them. As for Caerin's mother, she has been in prison for seven years, and Ayon's mother died in the civil war. Their father was there when Ayon's mother was killed. Their father's brother was more than willing to raise the two kids, and he has done so since Caerin was ten and Ayon was an infant. The first ten years of Caerin's childhood was spent with her mother, who taught her pottery on the Zephyr Islands (or other equivalent? I see we aren't on Lumar). She has since forgotten it. Her mother was imprisoned after the Civil War. Caerin's uncle located her after her mother was imprisoned, and united her with the baby, Ayon. They have spent the last seven years with their uncle, who has tried to teach them--specifically, Caerin, a child of the revolution--the art of nonviolence and passivity. It isn't going well. Caerin has been trained in medicine simply because her uncle was, and he had nothing better to teach her. They get along fine, but Caerin often wonders if, or wishes that, she has better places to be. Watching the Civil War tear her life apart has changed her view of permanence, and she's learned to avoid hurt by never letting others see her vulnerabilities, and never letting connections or companions get too close. She's made a few more enemies than friends, but has a few good ones out there. All her strength comes from fights or disputes with others and wrestling her uncle's large dogs off of her young brother. She believes her mother is wrongfully in prison, and will never forget the Civil War, even as her uncle continues to try to teach her how to regulate herself. Despite all this, what traumatizes her most of her childhood was that moment when she tried to impress someone by striking a match with one hand, but failed and instead dropped the matchbox on the ground, with all the matches spilling out. Other than that, she has appreciated what she has to call home and who she has to call family. She does not appreciate the dogs for constantly attacking Ayon.
WORST FEAR: Crying in front of someone else.
FAVORITE COLOR: Dark Green.
OTHER: She's not very good at dancing. She likes seagulls. She is intrigued by deadrunners. She's skeptical of lunar worship. (/idk how much of this works bc we're not on Lunar so you can just ignore it)
