Exam 8/9
Passed
Exam 9/9
Passed
I
AM
DONE
FOREVER
Musings of Silvereye, on the Tenth of the Final Ten Days
-
Another day
We're getting close
Exam 6/9 wasn't too hard
I would have done it in 30-45 min fully prepared and well rested
As it stands I did it in 1h30
*shrugs* should be good enough
And we were allowed to use pur calculators, just like we were told beforehand, which is worth mentioning these days
Exam 7 was funny
See, our school admin books 2 hours exams on our timetable without asking the teachers (in some case, before they even know about an exam)
But there isn't always enough material in the class for 2 hours
So here we had a 20 questions MCQ test which we all finished in 30 min give or take
Now I was actually slightly pissed about this, because I had wanted to go one last time at the small Japanese restaurant where I usually go when I finish late like this
But it wasn't open yet of course
And then I realized
There's a pretty cool landmark in the area near the school, and I had never taken the time to walk there in 2 years
So I just walked
No GPS, no rush, just walking in the general direction
Like a tourist - in a place I'd been in for years
No stress, no pressure to do anything right now, just the city lights and the cold wind on my face
Letting myself just enjoy the moment guilt-free, for the first time in a while
Felt good
Better than I've been in a long time in fact
You know what life is pretty fun actually

I kinda wanted those musings to be daily but
kinda forgot
Anyway
Exam 4/9 passed yesterday
Some parts went well
Others less so
But I gotta admire our teachers for the total lack of coordination
One of them says "Please don't forget your calculators, you will need them" and then another one comes and forbids calculators, without even checking if there are any questions that require a calculator
(there were)
(we are now trying to know whether calculators are allowed for tomorrow's exam, since the same teacher told us to take them for that one too; still no answer)
Exam 5/9 today
Went pretty well
Will help compensate some other ones
And at least the really hard ones should be behind now
Just gotta keep on for 2 days and then FREEDOM
(relatively speaking)
Nearly there
Musings of Silvereye, on the Eighth of the Final Ten Days

Oops I kinda forgot to muse on the last couple days
Anyway
Yesterday I got to stay 5 hours waiting at school because someone had drunk a bad beer the evening before
But I got some work done so I'm not even too mad
I don't work very efficiently at school but it's still better than anywhere else
Also, exams 2 and 3/9 done today
2 was
Not what I expected
Though the teacher didn't say us much about what the test would be (because we last saw him a month ago and we had a presentation to do on that day so the exam was nowhere near the top of our concerns)
So uh
This might be the end of my no retakes dream
3 was better
Subject was so poorly written, I couldnt even be sure about the sense of a question
Also, in several questions we had to different elements in the right order, with each its letter, and they were listed in the subject as A D B C
Every time
Why
Please why
Anyway that was my rant
I'm kinda tired if you couldnt tell
Musings of Silvereye, on the Fourth of the Final Ten Days
-
Well here we go for the hundredth time
But hopefully, the last
Exam 1/9 done
Was really an easy one, this subject was a joke to begin with
Managed to quote Ozzy Osbourne in the copy though, which I'm weirdly proud of
Feeling pretty good so far, now that the end is so close
Next exams are Friday. One is the hardest left, so hope it goes well

Was about to put a somewhat self-disparaging Ookla title; changed my mind eventually, and put something more positive
This way, every time I log on the Shard, I get a reminder of a good thing
Rather than something to depress me further
Oh and by the time this Ookla season ends, I will be done with classes and exams forever
Crazy
Anyway, happy Ookla season to all of you!
SpoilerNo I am not early, I am just ahead of you
SpoilerYes I should be asleep
SpoilerGood night

Well.
Today is the day.
10 years ago, at around this time, ten armed madmen started spreading death through Paris and Saint-Denis, leaving 132 dead in their wake, hundreds more wounded, thousands traumatized, and millions in shock.
Killed for enjoying life, going to music shows, or just having fun evening with friends at a restaurant or a café
I was a child then, I didn't understand all of what had happened then
It probably took me years to fully realize the sheer horror of it
(My parents wisely kept me away from the images, in fact I don't think I saw any up until earlier today)
But I remember the days after
My parents pulling me and my brother in the kitchen the next day, explaining to us "Listen, there's been a terrorist attack in Paris, lots of people have been killed"
We didn't really know what to make of it
Yet another minute of silence when returning to class on Monday, so soon after Charlie Hebdo
The teachers trying to talk with us about what had happened, themselves very shocked obviously
The flags raised everywhere, the little placards proclaiming state of emergency often near
And now?
Where are we, ten years later?
No one can tell
We cried and raged and fought
We made justice for our dead and wounded
But we kept going on
We still go to concerts and restaurants
French national team is playing again today
We kept living
I'll end by transcribing part of the speech of Arthur Dénouveaux, president of Life for Paris, an association of survivors, in today's ceremonies:
SpoilerI would have liked to tell you that hope carried us, but it is wrong, it traces no path. In the end, us, the victims, have nothing to offer you but a demand. To live in society according to the values that made France and its democracy a model.
We have no cure against the claustrophobia of this present, that the past lights no more and whose future seems elusive.
But we learned one thing. You only defend well what you love. Defending life in its most beautiful is refusing to give in to fear. Refusing to believe that one can go further alone than together. And refusing to believe that one can refrain from thinking. But it is also and most of all far more than to refuse, it's to love. To love humor, to love transmission, to love each other. [...]
I believe that you should not wish to leave a better world to your children, you should fight every day to live in a better world with them. Now and relentlessly, not give in to anything, relativize nothing. The 132 names behind me tell me with much more strength, life is so fragile, you have to love it.

That’s something I really like about the French. (In my French class, they taught us a few cultural things as well as the language.) You remember what happened. You can still see things from WWII and other important things like that in everyday life, constantly. You honor the past while striving towards a greater future.

Happy birthday!
Wait, I was not following you? Time to repair this mistake.

Hi everyone
I have the pleasure to tell you
Today is my third Shardiversary!
And the first one I actually celebrate! Because for the first one I was on hiatus
and for the second one I was *shivers* busy
I don't really have the time to write messages for all of you unfortunately
Will try to do it next week, but no guarantee
But for all of you: I love you so much and I don't have the words to tell you how much you gave me
Keep on being amazing
Because yes you are all amazing, even you

@SpiritOfWrath wait you waited for me? ...thanks *feels weird inside*
@Mag A little joke to make you confused. There is an area sometimes nicknamed the hen because the two valleys around it make up a hen shape. I was around where the bowels of the hen would be

*appears in doorway*
It's Bastille Day, my dudes.
*Marseillaise intensifies*
Been planning to post that tomorrow, but I won't be able to so here it is. Well, I guess it's already the day here.
Just got back from the fireworks. Was cool but it rained and we got wet. Couldn't take good pictures from ubder the trees we sheltered ourselves under, so you get an internet sourced pic from another year and another place lol
SpoilerYes, smaller towns do their fireworks today. That way they avoid competition from bigger cities with bigger money and bigger shows, who do it on the 14th

So I've been cleaning up stuff in my room today
Like, over half a decade's worth of stuff that I kept in/on my desk because I might need it someday, I didn't feel like throwing it, or for no particular reason
And like
For most of those things or old papers I'm like "yeah I guess I don't need it"
But when you have to physically take the trash bag out into the bin outside
It still feels weird
To just... send off all those things that were part of my life, that in some little way made me who am I today
I did take out the most important stuff and kept it, sure
I did take out what could still be of use, sure
But still
Non-exhaustive list of the stuff I found in my desk today:
Spoiler-A single work glove (sent to garage for eventual later use)
-The box of a long-dead cell phone I had around middle school (like, a phone with buttons)
-A whole set of colored pencils (also saved for possible later use by other family members)
-The entirety of my 11th grade classes (I... guess I kept them for 12th grade in case, and forgot they were there when throwing out the 12th grade classes?)
-The sheets for an exam that I had to reprint after my water battle opened in my bag
-My 12th grade philosophy teaching manual
-Various papers used as drafts for... anything (usually math/physics problems, but also completely random things)
-An authorization signed by my parents for me to get tested for Covid
-A certificate by my then school director that I am allowed to move around during lockdown to go between home and school residence (schools weren't closed at that point)
-Plannings for oral exams, stretching over two years
-A 2021 cinema ticket for Dune
Also, entirely unrelated but I'll be away and unavailable for tomorrow and most of the day after. Idk when the GS prequel RP was supposed to start, but if it was in the next two days, go ahead, I'll just catch up when I'm back.

Am I the only one
