Well, ive got my first person to read some of sandersons books. Downside is theyve read rithmarist and reckoners and are super against reading more of his books. I eventually had to make a deal that i would watch avatar season 1 if they read mistborn 1

Not quite sure. I think i might have talked about it a bit too much. They have referred to it as a cult several times. They arent a huge epic fantasy person(their favorite author is rick rordan) I have another classmate who is obsessed with Tolkien legendarium but doubts that Sandersons books are as good as i say. My plan to get them to read it is to get the other kid first and then try to convince him with 2 people. Now that i think about it this does sound like a cult.

Does anyone else wish there was a way to show music visually? Like a picture. Nothing ever comes close to how music sounds. Occasionally, I will think, "maybe I should change my profile picture." but then I realize I want to change my profile picture to music instead of an image, and then I feel sad that I can't do that. That's why I admire people who can draw so much, I think. It's like music, but visual. Music is much more important to me than drawing, but I feel like they are similar.

As somebody with synesthesia I can absolutley confirm that all sounds have their own colour. I could probably paint a picture of some songs

I finished the (extended) Lord of the Rings Trilogy! It's truly a masterful sequence of films! Music, set design, choreography, acting, costumes, cinematography.... It's all *chefs kiss* Magnifico!
Anyway, my sister and I were interested in the making of the movie and we found a couple fun facts!
- Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn) did not have a stunt double and used a real steel sword while filming
- Christopher Lee had read the LotR books every year for over 40 years before getting the role of Saruman.
- Nazgul screeches were made by scraping plastic cups cups together
- Viggo Mortensen formed such a strong bond with the horse he rode on set that he purchased him (and another horse to give him a friend) from the owners after filming.
- Apparently Tolkien wasn't allowed to publish the trilogy until it was typewritten, but he didn't have any experience, so he typed all 1,200 pages of The Lord of the Rings with the two fingers technique!
- Several of the Riders of Rohan were portrayed by women wearing fake beards
- Sean Bean (Boromir) refused to fly to set in a helicopter so each day he hiked in his heavy armor up the mountain to film.
- Ian McKellen and Elijah Wood never actually acted alongside each other because of their immense height difference and so their scenes were spliced together post-production
Kinda crazy, right!
In other news, this next week, I'm going to be very busy, so I don't think I'll be able to be on the Shard much (if at all) until later in the week. Everything's already starting to pick up- school is stressful, y'all!

School started today! it was great but ill be more busy on the weekdays. I will probably be on enough to respond to messages/continue roleplays im in but probably wont be starting new ones

Oh im going to a newn school and loving it. Distinct lack of sanderfans... but ive already started fixing it. got 1 classmate to start reading the rithmatist.

You know, I've realized something. I have a deep comprehension of a lot of things, but not in others. I have the instincts of a young teenager at the same time. This is not a good combination lol.

what really affects things for me is that I look younger than i am, read fantasy, but am more generaly mature than my age. So i get this whole"oh look at that smart little kid"(people usually put me at 2 years younger than I am so not kid but..) You would think they would treat me like i was more intelegent but they just think what i say is cute but not important. There is also this whole thing about little kids reading fantasy and adults growing out of it. Its patently untrue but that doesnt stop people from thinking that liking fantsy is childish

I keep wanting to reccomend brandon sanderson to you guys but then I remember that everybody here has read it. You should read the cosmere is usually like the 2nd sentence i say when i meet somebody so its surreal to not have to say it.

Okay, so for those of you who don't know, I'm love to improvise on the piano. The problem is, lately a lot of my playing has taken on the same vibe. I'm trying to experiment with different emotions and feelings, but I keep going back to what I'm comfortable with and staying "inside the box" (for me, that's playing really melodramatic and emotional music).
So my idea was to come to you guys to get inspired. Give me your craziest prompts! Surprise me with the most bizzare and wild stories! Hit me (don't actually hit me) with the awesomest concepts that you've been dying to be turned into music form!
Who knows, if I'm inspired enough I might post a recording of one of the prompts

Does anyone have any advice on how to get a hesitant sibling to read? My brother loved Mistborn era 1, but has resisted other books. I’ve been trying to get him to read more but he’s convinced that Mistborn was a fluke (also didn’t want to try Mistborn as a western in era 2) and doesn’t want the commitment. But I know he’ll love the cosmere if he gives it a shot. Anyone have any tips or cool ways of pitching any Sanderson books?

i would also recommend reading a wayne quote or 2 talking about tensoon and sazed showing up ect, convince them this is more of the same

I need advice.
A friend is starting Mistborn. She likes Kelsier. She says she will quit if Kelsier dies. I said he doesn't.
Should I give her the right to make an informed decision? Will she be more likely to keep going if she knows from the start?

IDK I warned my family about vin&elend in hero of ages and they refused to read it. Let them get further in. Point out kelsiers flaws. Maybe she will find it easier to bear once she has seen him be a nasty murderer. Id say dont tell her, its pretty foreshadowed in the books so she will probably figure it out. Also be ready to tell her about ghost kelsier. Let her know he isnt really dead
