Junior watched as her ship approached the delver and his ship zoomed past it. He suddenly turned the ship in jerky motion back, facing towards the delver from behind. In a few seconds, Aria's ship would be just far enough from the delver so that he could target it and shoot it down. It would be a risk... he could hit Arias ship if he wasn't careful.

"You have seven seconds to get out of my way and past the delver," He muttered through gritted teeth.

    Me fourteen hours later:

Aria zoomed past, jamming her foot on the accelerator and going as fast as she could. She gritted her teeth. "I can see that.

"I need you..." Junior raised his eyebrows as he was calculating how this plan could work, "I need you to fly in front of the delver. Cross horizontally by it."

Arian nodded. "Affirmative." She did as he asked, maneuvering her bulky ship horizontally.

Junior swerved his ship away from the incoming delver, fidgeting restlessly with the command board.

"Red alert," he muttered through his headset to Aria, "I need a favor."

He maneuvered his ship into a tight loop and reverse backpedal followed by a quick Minimal-Atmosphere Turn rushing into a banking roll as he turned on some emergency systems just in case events turned out... worse than planned for.

Aria chuckled lightly, but when she spoke her voice was devoid of mirth. “What do you need?”

I’m so sorry I haven’t been online… Everything has just been a lot lately with social drama and schoolwork and assessments and my extracurriculars.  I’m sorry again and I’ll try to be online more often-

"Agreed. And as far as water.... There's literally floating chunks of split ice in the biome I was first in."

    Spoiler

Don’t call me out like this 🫠

“I think we also need a ‘home base’ of sorts. Somewhere we can park our ships and rest. It’s not sustainable to be in the air for the whole competition. Any thoughts of where we might have an advantageous landing area that qualifies?”

  5. 1 hour ago, Lotus Blossom said:

Junior's voice crackled over the headset. "Aria let's abort this expedition and head east. It doesn't seem safe enough, and the reward isn't large enough to risk compromising the aircraft. Copy?"

    @SymphonianBookworm

Aria nodded. “Agreed, but we still need to find a sustainable method of getting food and water. Thoughts of where we head next?”

  6. 23 hours ago, Lotus Blossom said:

"Sure. I see some 9 degrees south. Beginning turn now."

Junior swerved his poco over the trees in the Tropical Rainforest biome.

Since I’m with Junior, I figured I might as well also try to ping you. Would you mind telling us if anything sticks out in the tropical rainforest, if there are any potential places to land, any water sources we can see, etc? Sorry for the bother!

  7. 1 hour ago, Lotus Blossom said:

"Not exactly. Do you see any supplies below? I wouldn't want to compromise our ships by landing, but I suppose we could lower altitude...."

“Wait, can we go find the trees? There has to be both food and running water there.”

  8. 8 minutes ago, Lotus Blossom said:

"Yes. I broke his hand," Junior clearly didn't see the point in dwelling on the same topic, "This arena looks rough. Just follow me, I'm heading over the Tropical Rainforest in 3... 2... 1... Crossed to the biome."

Aria followed in suit, matching the movements as best she could in the bulky Largo. “Is there a certain place you’re heading? Also, this is a good place to get supplies.”

  9. 41 minutes ago, Lotus Blossom said:

"Call it what you wish- He needed it. Builds character. And he won't need both hands to use air signals. If communication goes out or is compromised, the two of us need to be able to have a code visible to only us. Something safe... So as wingmen we can communicate through the cockpit instead of through the headset."

“…I was… talking about making him do hand signs… You’re the one who broke his hand?” Aria shook her head. “We can talk about that later. For now, where do you want to head first?”

  10. 2 minutes ago, Lotus Blossom said:

"Sure, that sounds feasible. We'll want to create a code using hand signals... And, yes, Jock's hand is broken."

Aria laughed. “A bit sadistic, don’t you think? But I suppose Jock will be able to sign using his… other hand.” Her voice softened. “Tell him I send my best wishes.”

    What exactly would exploring entail?

Aria shrugged. "No threats on this side. I think we'll be fine. Unless the others team up, we'll be able to deal with them. As for Sharp'i... why don't we try to avoid him for now? At least until we come up with a strategy; he'll probably be fairly difficult to kill." She paused. "Also... did something happen to Jock's hand?"

    @Lotus Blossom

Aria's voice crackled through the headset. "You up for exploring a tad before we do anything serious?"

  12. 32 minutes ago, Lotus Blossom said:

"Was there ever any doubt? Aria... Look who we're up against. Jock's hand won't be too useful for a very good portion of the games. That is, if he survives that long. It's a shame, really. Hard to pilot with a broken hand..." Junior looked at his right had with something of nostalgia through his small, weakened smile, "Anyway. How are the other tributes fairing? Any approaching threats I should beware of? Whiplash and Nova, I've been observing, have exceeded first impression. Sharp'i, seeing as his reputation precedes him, seems to have won the past Hunger Games."

Aria shrugged. "No threats on this side. I think we'll be fine. Unless the others team up, we'll be able to deal with them. As for Sharp'i... why don't we try to avoid him for now? Junior flied over the other tributes, finally feeling in charge. For once feeling free. For once, being on top of the world. And he wasn't flying away from his problems. No. He was flying into them. He was facing them, nose of the poco pointed straight at them. He was flying into the horizon. Into the sun. It didn't really matter where he was going, but he was flying forward. Advancing. Progressing. Freeing himself from his own chains. Because no one else was willing to free him.

He turned on his communication systems. "Aria?" he spoke into his headset within the helmet, "I'm in the air."

    He grinned.

If Lady Luck isn't on your side, the only solution is to lead yourself into a massacre... And win.

It wasn't a matter of odds. They were never in his favor. It wasn't a matter of chance. He never would be given any. It was a matter of risk. It was a mater of skillfully wielding possibility. It was a matter of walking through any open doors, and closing them behind you. He had to get ahead. That was the only way not to fall behind.

    @SymphonianBookworm

“Well what do you know? I figured if anyone could get a ship it would be you,” Aria said with a smirk. “By the way, how’s Jock doing?”

  14. Aria immediately turns the ship on and lifts off into the air, her eyes alight with mirth. She’s… probably not taking this quite as seriously as she should be.

But then her eyes darken and for a second, and it seems as though she has never seen it as a game.

    Not at all.

She fires at the second ship, intending to ruin any potential flight and attack capabilities.

It all suddenly started coming crashing down beneath the two, Jock scrambles after him, about five feet behind.

    "You son of a gun..."

It suddenly cracked in front of him causing him to trip.

She is about 20 meters from the ship, she can see the wall of flames go up in front of Silver.

She got ahead, but the ice was crumbling under her too.

The edge was made of rocks and had fog seeping off of it.

He just about gets to the ship, ten meters away, and a wall of flames go up in front of them.

The ground is now starting to catch on fire you need to move quickly, it is starting to burn your feet, but avoid the quicksand or you’ll be sucked into burning sand.

How close is Aria to the ship now that she’s been at it for a while? When will she get there?

also for roleplaying purposes Aria has burns now because that seems fair.

Aria’s arms start to sting from the flames, but she grits her teeth and continues onwards as fast as she can while still being careful. This pain. Pain is nothing. Pain is temporary. Pain-

    Is something I’ve felt before.
    Something that I’ve dealt with.

Something I can deal with again.

Is the sand also catching fire by me? If so…

Aria mutters a curse under her breath, though her eyes flash with respect for the game makers. She pulls her shirt over her mouth as to limit intake of smoke and drops lower as she starts to scramble to the ship.
