  1. Hey-

I joined last week, and I decided to make a little introduction speech.

So, I had a bookclub, and someone I met there introduced me to the Stormlight Archive.

So now, a few months later, I've read all four books in the Archive and both novellas. I've finished the Mistborn Saga, and I am reading Arcanum Unbounded. If anyone has any books to recommend, I am v e r y open. I personally think that Stormlight is the best Brandon Sanderson series I've read.

Also, we all love Wit/Hoid/Cephandruis. Literally my favorite charcater... in all the books I've ever read.

    Spoiler

And did anyone notice in the last three Mistborn books how Hoid became the coachman, and gave the gold coin to Wax? I was laughing and smiling so hard at that! It was amazing (and... symphonian ;) )

Well, yeah. Hi people. I exist.

yes, I love KOTLC. there is a club, linked here

I also love KOTLC (Shannon Messenger write the last book all ready...) though—since I am a very picky reader (Brandon Sanderson books are some of the few that made the cut into my top 3) and unfortunately I hate Sophie Foster. Your opinion on her? Also, do you ship Sophitz or Sokeefe?

What do you wish to know?

    :D

Well, if you're okay with it- I've been wanting to make a D&D 5e Stormlight campaign, but the logistics have been... eluding me- so, if possible, could you share some of the stuff you've made?

It's okay if you decide not to. How long did it take to make it?

  5. Hello,

I'm new to this website, so hopefully I put this question in the right place. I was wondering if Sanderson drew inspiration from the Middle Ages for his Inquisitors in the Mistborn Saga? I know that in the 1000-1300 CE time period, there were Inquisitors (part of the Inquisition started by the Pope) who carried out making sure Christians were following protocol (as far as I know), so were the Inquisitors in the books based off of the ones in real life?

    Thanks for reading my question!

  6. I don't want to shame Shallan for her problems, and she shouldn't suck it up...

The thing that I hate about her that I noticed-

When Jasnah comes back from the dead...

Shallan just thinks, "Look at Jasnah! Of course she came back. Classic Jasnah. Damn, why did the Stormfather make her so beautiful and smart? She makes me so insecure." And then, "why is she bossing me around? It's not like I am her ward or anything..."
It just makes me so mad. Her mentor came back, and the first thing she thinks about is her jealousy...

  7. I absolutely hate Shallan Davar. I am not going to shame her for her dissociative identity disorder, but... one thing I noticed-

WHEN JASNAH COMES BACK FROM THE DEAD, SHALLAN JUST THINKS HOW JEALOUS SHE IS OF JASNAH'S INTELLIGENCE AND BEAUTY. Anyone else realize that? When Jasnah arrived, Shallan's first thoughts were, "Oh wow, she's back. Damn, why does she have to look so pretty and be so smart? I feel so insecure about myself now." And then Shallan goes "Oh  why is she bossing me around it's not like i really wanted to be her ward or anything-" and complains about her.

I just wanted to say how much that made me mad... like, it's not okay that she didn't care that her mentor was alive......

  8. "An uneducated, half-brained serving boy with a hangover could make mock of you."

              - Wit

    And because I really can't choose which insult I like better;

"I hid your honor in a place you could never find it: in the arms of someone who truly loves you."

              - Wit

    I mean, I should have one actual inspirational quote, so;

"Some people feel the rain. others just get wet."

             - I'm not sure but I like the quote.

  9. I play D&D (Love that game so much) and I did play Curse of Strahd.

I love role-playing ad backstories, so hello new character! She was wonderful. Strahd had killed her parents when she was young, but---SURPRISE---he had actually mindcontrolled 8-year-old her to kill her mother... Anyway, she was very blunt, went around asking people if they were evil, mistrusts everyone (and rightfully so... her senses are surprisingly accurate. I'm just waiting for Blinsky to be evil), and has no manners whatsoever. She was also a were-bear for a while.

    Also, she hates Strahd (surprise!).

Well, I just wanted to put that out there.

(Oh yeah, she's an elf 2 levels cleric 8 druid with a wicked passive perception).

    Jasnah started the fight.

Yes, but if Ruthar hadn't been sexist, the fight wouldn't have happened in the first place. Wit wouldn't have had to insult him, and Jasnah would not have had to stab him. Like I said before, it is a sexist world, but I still can't forgive that. Even drunk, he should know better. In what way do you believe Jasnah started the fight---by talking to the Mink about war tactics?

By the way, I just wanted to say that my tone is lighthearted- I know tone can be misconceived when typing. I am not trying to sound angry or anything like that, and I know what I wrote could be interpreted that way.

I do tend to ramble don't I.  The unarmed drunk asshole was Ruthar the last questionable highprince that Dalinar and Navani had to contend with and he was old time ways in terms of men battle women read.  So when he was drinking away during the battle planning and saw Jasnah with The Mink chatting away he got stupid angry like everyone in the room knew he would.  This was not an expertly maneuvered happening this seemed like an everyday thing he would have done minus getting stabbed in the neck naturally

I just wanted to say that you are entitled to your own opinions, but I think that Roshar is a very sexist world, and even if that's normalized, it doesn't make it okay. I am not saying you think it is, but if Ruthar is going to attack Jasnah because she's participating in "manly" activities, I think she has every right to also fight him. I also think that she did plan out to have Renarin heal him so she wouldn't cause too much damage, so, while she might not have expertly maneuvered the situation, she did make sure there wasn't permanent harm to Ruthar, while still getting her point across.

Also, thanks for welcoming me to the Shard :)

  12. This is very off topic, but I wanted to say-

I love the Jasnah and Wit thing going on. I am pretty sure I am the only one who absolutely loves the relationship. I feel like they are perfect for each other. An intelligent, heretic queen too smart for her time with a tongue as sharp as a knife and looks to match, and then my favorite character of all time, Wit---the immortal trickster god with the best insults I have ever read. I think that they are the only ones who can understand each other- Wit doesn't care that she's a heretic, and I think he'll get over the asexual thing. She knows that he's immortal and knowledgable, but she likes him because of that. They fit together so well, and honestly I hope they stay together and get married or something. I hope Jasnah will become a worldhopper and travel with Hoid throughout the cosmere, and rule the world. I think Jasnah could teach Hoid how to be serious sometimes, and he could teach her how to have fun. They would have incredible philosophical conversations, I would think, and I think that they would enjoy each other's company because both are mostly misunderstood.

imagine a world led by Jasnah and Wit...

Anyway, that's what I believe wholeheartedly.

(This is my first post, by the way. I'm new :) )
