I'm reading The Stormlight Archive for the first time

This: Which connection? That both Sadeas' camp and the Ghostbloods aren't nice people, or that the Ghostbloods didn't like Amaram who is good buddies with Sadeas' camp? Ah, thank you and welcome! SA3 chapter 22: Still feels like Shallan is out of her depth dealing with Mraize. The only reason I'm not worried for her more is that Brandon rarely writes that kind of dark stuff. I guess maybe sometimes a little. Maybe I should be more worried. Yes, now I'm definitely worried. Though I'm more worried for Adolin, seeing as he's the one who killed Sadeas and now has to run an investigation on it, plus everyone is trying to figure out who did it. Glad the highstorms are coming back. We definitely need those! -

SA3, chapter 21: Another chapter of mostly setup, with something interesting happening at the very end. Honestly, we shouldn't be surprised that the Ghostbloods are associated with Sadeas' camp. They're not exactly nice people. It is a little funny, I suppose, that they were at odds with Amaram in book 2 iirc, and Amaram was close with Sadeas, and now Mraize is there with Ialai. But still, it mostly feels like it fits. -

SA3, chapter 20: Kaladin starts seeing the other side. I look forward to him reporting back to Dalinar. If Dalinar is having difficulty now, trying to unite the humans against a common enemy, what will he do finding out that this enemy is in the right? -
Check out my Yumi unboxing vid!
I still have a lot to learn making videos where I talk at the camera, but figured I'd start practicing

Thank you everyone for explaining about the drinks. It makes sense. Sorry, I still don't think the hand thing is realistic. Just like she wasn't properly ready for how much the drink would burn, she wouldn't have been ready for how much that knife would hurt. Yeah, right now I do. If there will, it sure isn't now. Nice Look what showed up: I made an unboxing video too, but it's accidentally reversed. Once I either manage or fail to fix it, I'll link it in my profile. SA3, chapter 19: Dalinar continues to be a brainless, heartless badass. I don't have anything else to say about this chapter. When I'm finally dying to hear more about Shallan, we're going back to Kaladin. You did this on purpose, Brandon, didn't you?? -

Thank you, and you're welcome! SA3 chapter 18: What the what?? Okay, I don't think the murderers are hypnotized to murder another person in the same manner without remembering they did it, because if this were the case, the corpses wouldn't end up so precisely the same. So either each set of two corpses are actually the same person transformed via Lightweaving or some other method to look like someone else, or the second person in each case is somehow magically killed in the same manner, like a duplication of the murder? Gosh, it's so bizarre. Now I really want to hear more about this; why do we have to go back to Dalinar's past? But let's backtrack. Shallan is starting to lose it, trying to bury her trauma under illusions. Meanwhile, I didn't really understand the thing with the hard drinks. She tells Pattern that her goal wasn't to get drunk, and that 'it's complicated', but it seemed at the beginning that her goal was to experience being under the influence so she could fake it at a later time. If this was indeed her goal, why would she tell Pattern 'it's complicated'? Finally, do surgebinders feel less pain? I know they can heal themselves, but stabbing yourself through the hand is hard to do, and then not scream or even react is also hard to do. Both are near impossible, and Shallan does them casually. I mean, it would make sense if they don't feel as much pain, since they don't need to, with their ability to heal. -

Dragonsteel said they would send me a replacement pin, yay! SA3, chapter 17: Yay, back to Kaladin. Kaladin is starting to make friends with the parshmen after realizing they're not evil voidbringers. And next we're going back to Shallan, why? I want to keep hearing about Kaladin! -

I didn't think in that direction, but now you made me want to read it even more. Welcome back. Look what finally showed up: A little frustrating to only have it show up after I already finished reading it. Hopefully SP3 will show up sooner. Also, guess what DIDN'T show up in the same box? The cosmere pin! (I submitted a ticket.) Thank you everyone for 1000 rep! I only have 244 posts, so that's an average of 4 rep per post! If anyone has a better ratio than that, speak up. Otherwise, I will wear the crown of #1 in the forum. But 'nough chatter. SA3, chapter 16: Dalinar wonders what to do with Szeth's honorblade, then goes sparring, where all the ardents treat him like that one kid in school that everyone hates because he has opinions differing from the norm. VERY relatable for me personally, as someone who always has opinions differing from the norm. I was a little confused by his debate of whether to tap out. In martial arts, you tap when your opponent is about to snap a part of your body. There's no debate any more than there can be a debate of whether to pull your hand back when you accidentally stick it in a flame. But maybe it's different for wrestling. Anyway, Navani shows up and Dalinar fails to win over yet another ruler, this time the Iriali queen. And finally... Dalinar can suddenly hear his wife's name?? What the what? What brought this about all of a sudden? -

Dude, no spoilers! SA3, chapter 15: Adolin teaches Shallan to wield her Shardblade, and Shallan creates another persona for herself. Adolin thought it weird that she called him "Brightlord Kholin", but at one point she referred to Shallan in third person while talking to him, and he didn't react to that at all. Are we supposed to assume that she actually said "I" but "Shallan" was what Radiant "heard"? It is also mentioned at one point that Adolin left his Shardblade summoned, and it again feels inconsistent with that one part in book 2 where he was struggling to even throw his Blade a few feat without it puffing into smoke. Sadly, next chapter looks to be about Dalinar; I want back to Kaladin! -

Pattern is adorable. SA3, chapter 14: Back to Kaladin. Finding that the parshmen didn't transform into the parshendi stormform, and are in fact just trying to survive and escape their slavery. He decides to let them capture him, and now I can't wait to see what happens next and am rather annoyed we're going back to Shallan next chapter! -

Yikes, I suppose I've inadvertently sighed up to book blog the entire cosmere! Awww, thank you!! SA3, chapter 13: I like Pattern. He's so funny. I want Shallan to find out Adolin killed Sadeas. If anyone can help him get out of that mess, it's Shallan. -

Thanks. As I was animating my series for YouTube, one of the side characters looked like me, so I adopted her as my avatar. I was talking about past Dalinar, not present day Dalinar. Glad to hear it, because I haven't liked the flashbacks in the previous books too much. Thank you for calling my thread 'fantastic'! I definitely intend to keep going, although you all will have to bear with my slowness. SA3, chapter 12: Dalinar talks to other world leaders via spanreed, and they generally don't want to go along with his plan. Then Elhokar walks in and it seems he's trying to take Kaladin's advice, at least partly, and step down, in a way. He also wants to take Kaladin with him to Kholinar, which will be amusing, since Kaladin hates Elhokar. Finally Taravangian of all people agrees to work with Dalinar. What's that guy plotting now? This should be interesting... Ever since the reveal about Taravangian in book 2, I've been curious to see more of him. -

SA3, chapter 11: Another Dalinar flashback. We see Dalinar now has Shardplate, though we don't see how he got it. Then in this chapter he gets his Shardblade... by killing a kid, one could say. Plus, you know, tons of other people. I liked that Teleb the archer made an appearance. Still not sure where these Dalinar flashbacks are going, though I guess we're still kinda setting the scene. I'm guessing the plot of these will be what happens as Dalinar has to adjust to running a kingdom instead of conquering one. -

Listen here. One of the options I listed was basically "anything else," so it can't very well not be "one of those" SA3, chapter 10: Kaladin finally found a village attacked by Voidbringers, and discovered that the Voidbringers are heading toward Kholinar, so he's headed there now. I wonder if he's going to meet Elhokar's horrid wife and discover why she hasn't been responding to spanreeds. Should be a lot of drama, so I kinda look forward to that. Also, Kaladin seems to have become a celebrity, which I find kinda cool - it also makes a lot of sense, seeing as, you know, he can fly. Next up we see Adolin visiting Gallant, and Renarin stops by. Renarin can heal other people! Kaladin will approve of this (or maybe be jealous). Renarin is also being super insecure, I feel bad for him. I hope he finds a place where he feels he belongs soon. Do we get to meet his spren at some point? This topic has 32 followers, so I'm going to abuse my power: -

Thank you SA3, chapter 9: WTF? Okay, guessing time: Option 1: This man is another Lightweaver. He disguised himself as Sadeas, and Adolin killed him, thinking he was killing Sadeas. This is the same corpse. Option 2: This man is in fact Sadeas, and someone did a Lightweaving on him to make him look like this other man. It's the same corpse. Option 3: Someone is trying to take credit for the murder of Sadeas, by murdering this other person in the same manner. Option 4: Someone wanted this guy dead and decided to do it and pin it on Sadeas' murderer. Option 5 (most likely): Some other explanation I haven't thought of. Yikes, Adolin will have to fess up to his dad at some point! Wondering what Renarin's powers are. Can he detect that it's Adolin who killed Sadeas? Something is up with Renarin... -

31, huh? That's a ways off. I'll reply inside a box because it's off topic: SA3, chapter 8: I liked how Dalinar suggested they ask Pattern for advice. I also like seeing Dalinar make progress on his goal of uniting/helping the world. I want to see both Renarin and Dalinar surgebind. We haven't really seen anything from them yet. Another murder? Oh no, is this someone from Sadeas' camp claiming a blood price for the murder of their highprince? Has Adolin started a horrid chain of murders?? -

Your wish is my command... SA3, chapter 7: Very nice chapter. Summons Shardblade: "Any other questions?" Lol, that was great. And then at the end he showed them how he's a Radiant. I really like how now finally Kaladin is no longer trying to hide his surgebinding and Shardblade. It's so much more fun to have him awe people with them. And Kaladin contacting Dalinar via spanreed was way more fun than Lift contacting what's his name imo. Ah, characters in stories always return home so powerful, and all the old problems they had seem so silly and irrelevant. In real life, I feel like becoming an adult only broke me. What would I give to be powerful for once like Kaladin and those other characters in stories... Also: Kaladin's parents had another kid! So cute! -

SA3, chapter 5: Ugh, barely anything happened! Most of the chapter was Kaladin walking toward Hearthstone and then finding the destruction. I feel like I got no answers! It sucks that he missed the storm, though. I hope his parents survived. I want to see his meeting them again, or at least someone he knew from his childhood. Even Roshone would be interesting... Edit: chapter 6: Yaaas, this is exactly what I'm talking about!! Great chapter, and then Kaladin punched Roshone in the face, go Kaladin! -

Oh. I thought that was part of the fun, my reactions bringing up discussions about what happens later that I can't look at yet and get to be curious about. SA3, chapter 4: Yay, I'm so glad Dalinar told Navani that he can't remember his wife! Also very glad he married her, even though he's getting into a lot of trouble with the church! Yay, next chapter is about Kaladin, finally! I really want to hear about him going home to his parents. -

Wait. Are there aethers in SA? SA3, chapters 2-3: We see the contrast between present day Dalinar trying to unite everyone in peace and young Dalinar being a killing machine. I wonder if the Thrill is somehow the same as the listeners' rhythm of war. I can see why Dalinar and Sadeas used to get along. And as horrible a person as Dalinar was, it's fun to read about someone with a high level of skill at something. I liked how he decided to take on that archer after being impressed with his skill. -

Okay, top favorite definitely Szeth. Number 2 Taravangian? Now that we know about the Diagram, I'm super interested. Yeah, my top two are villains, huh. 3rd favorite is Pattern. Kaladin used to be #2 but I really like him less after WOR. Took him way too long to figure out that killing Elhokar was wrong. Next up, 3 characters I dislike the most. Sadeas!! Do dead characters count? I hated Sadeas. I can't help but dislike Venli after what she did to the listeners. I'm not sure this next one is fair, because I haven't met her, but I really dislike the Nightwatcher. Why does she give people boons and curses? Does she enjoy toying with them? She creeps me out. For sure! I don't think so, because I love the silliness in SP2 (was actually sorry to see some of it was stripped out between sample and publication). I just specifically don't like Lift and Hoid's brands of silliness. But I know Brandon can also write silliness I love, because I loved the Alcatraz series. Stormlight 3, prologue: LOL, loved the detail that Klade went to buy a slave just out of curiosity and ended up buying an Alethi. Except later it turns out to be Szeth?! (I guess Eshonai doesn't know the difference between Alethi and Shin, haha.) And whose voice whispered to him and led him to Szeth?! So many mysteries. Gosh, after hearing Gavilar, I'm not really sorry he's dead. His plan was to start a great war in order to unite his people against a common enemy? That's not very nice. He sounds like a villain. -

SA2½ chapter 20: Lift is going back to Azir, and here I thought she'd go to Urithiru to meet up with the other characters. Final thoughts about the novella: I expected to learn more about Lift's past and why the Night Watcher didn't grant her request, and what she did grant and take (Lift's boon seems to be her a bility to touch the cognitive realm, touching spren and turning food into Stormlight, wich is very different than what she asked to gain - not aging - and what's her curse side of the deal?) The novella felt like a very long interlude! I'm just glad I saw more of Szeth. I still don't like Lift and Wyndle too much, but I guess they're okay. So I'm wondering what's up with the Heralds we've been seeing lately. Are they just now returning from somewhere, or have they been wandering around, half crazy, for centuries now? Hope we find out in book 3. As a bonus for finishing ED, I'll tell you how my own writing is going. I just finished the 2nd draft of the script for the YouTube project I'm doing! Drawing and animation is next. Now it's time for Oathbringer! -

SA2½ chapter 19: I feel like Lift took down Darkness/Nale a little like Kaladin took down Szeth. If only it were that easy to convince people they're wrong in real life! It was definitely entertaining to have her hug him. Only one more chapter left! -

Oh, the others were already flying, so I didn't realize Szeth couldn't yet. SA2½ chapter 18: WTF was that thing? Makes me think I must know nothing about Roshar. Who knows how many other different creatures are about? Also, is Axies Hoid? As soon as he said the surgebinder was someone else, I thought for a moment and realized it had to be the Stump. Edit: I looked it up and Axies was the guy who's cataloging spren. He's immortal??
