You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
ash's_eyes replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
when you do two of your four book reports for your ap english class on sanderson books and when you get distracted from writing that report because you go look up wayne on the coppermind and it leads to a huge rabbit hole of the cosmere -
be careful...I had never reread anything until the cosmere either, and then i went on a three year read and re-reading binge of mistborn and SA four times each, as well as elantris three times before i got myself to pick up anything else. but otherwise enjoy! there are so many cool things i missed the first time through, especially not knowing about the cosmere. there are so many awesome things you pick up on

I have never done Sanderson Elimination before. Would this be a good one to start with? -
Good point

Ok I did think about that; I thought maybe it was something that stuck since Odium used to be the god of the humans, thanks for reminding me of that. that makes a lot of sense Yeah it does seem to be heavily influenced by Odium. I wonder if there are more hints in Vorin practices and teachings that could give us more clues about humans before they came to Roshar and what happened on Ashyn

Not sure if this has been brough up before, I couldn't find a whole lot on it. "In the English language, the word "ardent" is an adjective meaning eager, zealous or passionate" (not sure how or if I need to link to the coppermind? This is in the "trivia" section of Vorinism). Odium is very adamant about making it known that he is not just hatred, but passion. Anyone know of any possible connections or have ideas about connections between the ardents and Odium?

religion How has religion impacted you?
ash's_eyes replied to Robin Sedai's topic in General Discussion
I have found a couple threads today where people have been discussing religion and I'm amazed at how respectful they have been, I love it! I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Sticking to a common theme in this thread, I don't know which part of my life isn't affected by my religion. There are inumerous ways that my faith has impacted my life, and I will share just one. Without my faith in a loving Heavenly Father, my mental health... well I don't know exactly where I would be, but it would not be good. When I get into a bad spot mentally, I always go to prayer. I am really bad at talking to people about my problems, even my parents. Prayer is the only thing that keeps me going sometimes. I know that there is a loving God who hears what I am saying, and truly cares about me too. Almost every time, I feel an immense comfort and like a weight has been taken off of me. Without this belief, I don't know if I could go on with all that I am doing. Emotionally, I would be in a pit and maybe even on the edge of my own honor chasm. My faith and the strength that God has given me has kept me going all this time. I am not happy all of the time, but it helps me to focus on the good and find joy in life and the journey. -
Emperor's Soul, Good or Amazing?
ash's_eyes replied to The Unknown Ajah's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
I haven't read it in a while, but from what I do remember it was really good! Like most of Brandon's stuff, I found it very unique, but this one especially. Every aspect of it was really well done; the plot, the characters, the magic. I found it incredibly interesting and I would really like to see more stories take place on this part of Sel and with the magic system of the soulstamps.- 25 replies

A-steel F-bronze I've thought about this so many times, and I have a hard time deciding. Can I just be a Lord Ruler please? I ended up going with steel because I have always wanted to fly. Whenever the "which superpower would you have" question comes up, that's what I always choose. I almost went with tin because I think so many times throughout the day "if only I had tin" so I could see myself using it all the time. The ability to be more awake would be so helpful in so many situations, especially as a high school student. I don't get nearly enough sleep, and this would help XD

Secret Project Online Reading Group
ash's_eyes replied to Trutharchivist's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I think that this is a cool idea! I would love to do it, although I might have a hard time pacing myself on the books... but if it was with a group of people, it might be easier- 28 replies

we know that ashyn was destroyed because surgebinding went unchecked. now, the ashyn form of surgebinding may have been different, we don't know for sure. but honroblades allow for surgebinding without any type of oaths. this could be insignificant or completely wrong, but is it possible that honorblades were as common as shardblades on ashyn and because there were no oaths to keep the people using them in check, this is what destroyed the planet? again, not much of a theory and i could be totally off, but any thoughts?
