  1. Yeah, I am afraid @Farnsworth has the right of it - the way theories survive is through the thorough elimination of everyone who disagrees with you. Only the strong will survive.
  2. Hey there! Welcome to our 100% definitely not insane corner of the Internet. We don't have Words of Radiance hardcovers, but we do have, um... I am sure we have something to make up for it!
  3. In this thread I think I would not discourage double-posting - makes it less likely that we'll miss something.
  4. Ironically, yours is the best audio of the signing line Fortunately I was able to figure out how all the different signing line recordings line up, so we should be able to use your audio for everything you have, and then use one of the others for the gap.
  5. You can click on the entry number and copy its URL (or right click on the number and select the copy option from your browser's dropdown) for reference - unlike Theoryland the entries in Arcanum have absolute IDs, so even if they move around within the event their ID will remain the same. So it's safe to refer to them by ID/URL.
  6. The reason metal glows in the Scadrian subastral is because its conduit to the Spiritual Realm manifests as light in the Cognitive; Stormlight actually does the same thing, it glows - because it offers a pathway to the Spiritual. The gems themselves seem mostly special for their ability to hold the Light.
  7. I got a very strong vibe that Navani was trying to figure out a way to have vehicles ride the storm, fly over it (hence the sails on the bottom) similarly to how Kaladin had been moving around.
  8. I don't know, my impression was that all the Radiants got supercharged initially, but the ones who actively kept using their Stormlight had to recharge from the conveniently spilled gems.
  9. I think I disagree. I agree that Glys was most likely a Truthwatcher spren once, and had the same kind of access to Progression and Illumination as all the other Truthwatcher spren, but Odium's investiture (through Sja-anat's Enlightenment) has changed the way he manipulate one or both of those Surges.
  10. This sounds reasonable, but he was Voidbinding (if this is, in fact, what's going on) weeks before the Everstorm was even created. And I don't think there is any foreshadowing about him having access to Voidlight at that time.
  11. I like @FeatherWriter's hypothesis on this - that the Truthwatcher Resonance allows them to "see truths", i.e. not only detect lies but also know the underlying truths, and so the "exceeding abundance of tact" they display is their silence, not revealing what they only know because of their... a little invasive powers.
  12. Oathbringer has been delurking people
  13. For all eternity. But hey, I didn't say who had a flat butt! I could've been talking about... some statue somewhere.
  14. Her original theory actually comes before my question. This is kind of what I've been assuming - that he Surgebinds Progression and Voidbinds Illumination. His Regrowth looks identical to other instances of Regrowth we've seen, but the stained glass futuresight (Fortune?) panorama is entirely unlikely Shallan's Lightweaving - but it's also a very visual thing to do, which makes me think Illumination is involved.
  15. A bit of background for those who have remained blissfully unaware of this meme (such as @Kurkistan, apparently). Early in 2015, after Brandon's Firefight tour, he came to Chicago and did an impromptu signing where I asked him about Renarin and his Words of Radiance visions, mostly because they didn't feel explainable with either one of the Truthwatcher Surges. The exchange in question (behind a spoiler tag, for brevity): https://wob.coppermind.net/events/3-firefight-chicago-signing/#e64 What you don't see in this exchange is my commentary where I explain that I can share as much as another eventgoer would've been able to glimpse - that Brandon asked me for my copy of The Way of Kings, the US hardcover, and pointed me to a specific page in it. A page that supposedly explained the visions. And a page that would come up in both public discourse and private messages every few weeks to few months. Well, Oathbringer is out, I've gotten a chance to check in with Brandon and make sure it's okay to do a reveal, and he said that it was. So, since I am running out of ways to tease - or troll - you all, I'll just drop it here, without my 2 years worth of speculations, and see what you do with it. A wiser man might've prepared a proper theory to go with this, to catch you up on my thoughts, but I am honestly too tired (and, to be honest, busy) to this right now. So. The Page
  16. Such as flatbutt!
  17. Can I interest you in this beautiful spacebar?
  18. You came to the right place, welcome!
  19. It is a bit of a bottleneck, and we are hoping to alleviate this, but it takes time.
  20. Hey Bree! You held your ground a lot better than someone with one post has any right to, I wouldn't worry about next time
  21. Hey, I remember this name! Good times, everyone! The Chicago Cosmere Club grows ever bigger with each new signing - and while new faces are to be expected, I am beginning to run into the "I know we've met before, but I don't remember you" problem with some of you guys. So if I didn't remember you, or if I didn't hang out with you enough (I do feel kind of responsible for these Chicago events...), I am sorry, I'll buy you sweets or something next time? Until then, come say hi in here, delurk yourself, as it were Every one of you I spoke with was a delightful (I assume) human being, and you should come brag about it so the rest of the community can bask in - dare I say it? - your Radiance. Except for @Zmann966. He is just an uncool dude. I am too tired to try to offer you a summary of the event (though I might do that tomorrow, as it was... less than ideal), or to share any juicy WoBs (while the Arcanum crew works on a proper transcription).
  22. No need to write an autobiography, just saying hi is good Welcome!
  23. What you are seeing here is, hopefully, not how future events will be handled. We are still figuring things out, and as a result we not only have fewer transcribers than usual (just the Arcanists), we also can't show you guys what we've transcribed (until Peter greenlights us). Once the Oathbringer craziness dies down a little I imagine both we and Team Sanderson will have a little more time to figure this out.
  24. Dang. @Pagerunner, you guys got Brandon sick! Sabotage! Unfortunately this means that we might not get a post-signing Q&A, though I certain plan to ask. Can't win them all though.
