  1. While not the official AMA, Brandon still replies to the occasional question in the Oathrbinger thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Stormlight_Archive/comments/3dlncy/oathbringer_spoilers_stormlight_three_update/cv1n71j?context=10000
  2. This has always been an assumption on our part. Could be something else entirely. As for the hereditary rules of Hemalurgy, I could've sworn there was a WoB somewhere, but I can't find it...
  3. Those words will always bring Breeze and Sazed to my mind.
  4. Could be. It's a little tenuous, but possible.
  5. I don't think there is much good that can come out of that. If you want to be convinced that the new ending is better, maybe I can marshal some convincing argument, but you have to want it. Otherwise we'll both be just shouting our opinions at each other.
  6. Done with Men at Arms - such a great book. Out of my reread so far, it's one of the best. On to Feet of Clay.
  7. Eh. I don't agree, but I won't argue with you. @LordSnuggleBeardIV, it's somewhere on the website...
  8. That's not how I read it. The impression I got was that Kaladin was waiting to see what Szeth would do, and Szeth just let himself go into the storm. In the original ending it was Kaladin who decided to end Szeth's life; in the revised ending, it's Szeth deciding to give up.
  9. Mixed reviews? You found good reviews of the second half?
  10. I am curious, hypothetically speaking, would you be willing to change your mind? Obviously sometimes people feel however they feel, and that's that, but other times there is a reason for such strong emotions, and understanding and addressing that reason can at mitigate the response. Not that I am going to stick my nose in your business either way, I am just curious why so many people loudly proclaim they hate something I feel Brandon has explained and justified so well.
  11. Regarding tours, I feel I need to remind you that it's the publishers that set the schedule, not Brandon. He has very little control over where they fly him. As for the AMA, I've made Peter (and, presumably, Brandon) aware of the situation - Peter at least didn't know about the archiving. I'll give them a couple of days and nag them for an update after that.
  12. Yep, thread was archived. I wonder if Brandon will be interested in continuing this in a new thread. Or maybe /r/fantasy can reopen it. To Twitter!
  13. At this point the AMA is just ridiculous. I am half convinced Brandon will do another one in, say, 2017, and this one will be active not only until the new one comes up, but after. Yeah, that sounds about right. https://www.reddit.com/r/books/comments/2ytg2h/im_novelist_brandon_sanderson_ama/cuu82l4?context=10000 https://www.reddit.com/r/books/comments/2ytg2h/im_novelist_brandon_sanderson_ama/cuu819t?context=10000 https://www.reddit.com/r/books/comments/2ytg2h/im_novelist_brandon_sanderson_ama/cuu80xz?context=10000 https://www.reddit.com/r/books/comments/2ytg2h/im_novelist_brandon_sanderson_ama/cuu809a?context=10000 https://www.reddit.com/r/books/comments/2ytg2h/im_novelist_brandon_sanderson_ama/cuu7zr1?context=10000 https://www.reddit.com/r/books/comments/2ytg2h/im_novelist_brandon_sanderson_ama/cuu7zlb?context=10000 https://www.reddit.com/r/books/comments/2ytg2h/im_novelist_brandon_sanderson_ama/cuu7xdx?context=10000 https://www.reddit.com/r/books/comments/2ytg2h/im_novelist_brandon_sanderson_ama/cuu7w0c?context=10000
  14. I am feeling for Marasi so much here. Having been Wheel the Third on a few occasions myself I know how it is. Also, nice parallel between the final scene of this chapter and the final scene of The Alloy of Law's prologue. Only, in the prologue, it was very much about what Wax would do when the woman he cared about was held at gunpoint, whereas here it's really about how Marasi will deal with being held at gun knifepoint. And I'll be honest, I am a little disturbed - I don't think Marasi is the type of character to casually blow somebody's brains out, I think this action will stay with her for a big chunk of the book. Also (x2), mistcloaks, mistcoats, what's next? Mistsuits in Era 4?
  15. Finished Guards, Guards! by Terry Pratchett. I have mentioned before that I had read some Pratchett books about a decade ago, and that was apparently long enough for me to forget which ones. Well, Guards, Guards! was one of them, and I was as delighted to read it again as I was when I read it for the first time (probably more so, actually, because my original read was a translation, and much of Pratchett's play on words is lost there). I am now quickly making my way through Men at Arms, another book that rings some bells.
  16. I was referring to the post before mine. As to why I have this information and you don't, I can't tell you that either. I've already said too much...
  17. I can actually confirm those answers are coming in Oathbringer. I know just the tiniest sliver of information, but I promised Brandon I'll keep quiet about it. Book 3 though.
  18. Guards, Guards! I am hoping to finish the Night Watch subseries before Shadows of Self comes out.
  19. If you look at the map inside the book, and account for what Sarene (?) says about Aon Aon (curve line for the mountains to the east, and a straight line for the sea to the north), then the chasm line in the new Aon Aon (the one Raoden created by fixing the old one) should be roughly parallel to the straight "sea" line, and almost intersect the curved "mountains" line about halfway (so it looks a little bit like a flipped F). If you track Raoden's run when he was fixing the Elantris Aon, however, you notice that he drew it in the wrong place.
  20. I believe Brandon just didn't catch the error before releasing the book. The new edition will correct both map and in-text description.
  21. It's stupid how easy it is for Brandon to hype me up about a book more than a year away.
  22. damnation. Didn't Navani said that Dalinar and his wife were a perfect match for each other (or was it the other way around)? If so, and given the Blackthorn's reputation, I could see his wife being some kind of equivalent of a rebellious warrior princess, teaching her eldest to kick butt and take names left and right.
  23. If anything drives me insane, it's going to be that - we open the first book with the Heralds, and then just as the hype train slows down a bit, BAM, (alleged) Talenelat'Elin, the Stonesinew, Herald of the Almighty.
  24. This fits remarkably well...
