I DON'T KNOW That's the worse part. I'm trying to find it.
-
Hmmmmmm I'm thinking of a book that did that....
-
I was thinking that this horror is more... existential than slasher fic?
-
Oh I was thinking about a team discovering it, not living on it. If we're pre-existing, then it should be SMALL
-
I was hoping for bigger. Like, the planet is one. Bishop rings are a type of space habitat. Imagine a ringworld, but orbiting like a moon around a planet.
-
I read a book like that recently. There was spacetime folding. And people where slowly vanishing.
-
oooh! Horror! I'm a good horror writer! If we're doing horror, we should do veils and lines.
-
You can both be villains you know... Two bad guys are better than one.
-
I'm open to playing. Are we looking for more hard sci-fi (Three body problem) or soft sci-fi? (Star war)

I’ve had a kinda cool idea for a Shardworld, which I’m gonna call Sult, to explore some more mechanical forms of investiture with a cool backdrop. In this thread, I'll outline the ecology, world building, and some examples of magic devices. Basic Worldbuilding Essentially, the entire planet is a desert of red, ferrous sand. At the same time, invested winds blow constantly from east to west, picking up, weaponizing, and investing the sand. When invested, the sand will move at incredible speeds, shredding anything that goes in the way of the wind. Anything invested, including the innate investiture in humans and other life, attracts the sand, which often speeds up after passing through anything invested, having absorbed the investiture and converted it into kinetic energy. Even if somehow captured, the sand will not stop moving until it’s depleted its investiture. At that point, it can still be re-activated with either blood or an infusion of investiture. This, of course, asks the question of if there’s hungry, life-eating sand, how on earth does anything, much less higher life, like humans, still exist? The answer is simple: The Cradles. Each Cradle is a mountain of steel glass, the result of an ancient battle; remnants of the red sand turned into boiling glass and infused with the carbon of the long-dead life, curved into a sort of dome. (Think of that mountain from Evangelion that was melted by Ramial’s laser). Since these mountains are steel-infused, the realmatic powers of steel come into effect, repelling the sand enough to create a sort of “shadow,” where the sand doesn’t go, and life can exist safely. Over time, the humans native to Sult have discovered this interaction and have begun to figure out that the sand also interacts with other metals as well. The Allomantic metals each have an effect, much like they do in the rest of the cosmere. The Metals. No idea for the temporal Metals. Thoughts? (On the metals and in genreal) (I wrote this on my phone, so forgive any spelling mistakes.

Why did the Dawnshards behave like they did?
Argenti replied to Slayd_07's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I mean, we don't know that. Maybe in shattering ado, they ripped apart their mind in 4 directions, and each to a bit of it, breaking their power into 16 parts simultaneously. We don't know. -
That sounds good, thank you.

I'm curious about which sub-forum would be best for a cosmere-based writing project. I'm concerned about the spoiler policy, but generally, the cosmere and WAT sub-forums are for theories and discussion about the books. Would it be better served in the Creator Corner but with a spoiler tag? Curious what you all think.

Why did the Dawnshards behave like they did?
Argenti replied to Slayd_07's topic in Cosmere Discussion
It makes sense they're part of a whole. DawnSHARDS, they're a broken part of a whole. They were used in conjunction, as a whole, at least twice. Once to create the cosmere, once to splinter Ado. And why would they not be related to Ado? Ado predates the shattering; he made the dawnshards to make the universe. Now, what would have happened when they fused? Rysn would have died, i'm sure. I'm picturing those simulations of two planets smashing into each other, making a mess, and probably having a big boom, either physically or spiritually. It would have alerted T-Ret to the dawnshard's presence, and Ado only knows what he'd do. -
While this could be cool, it's impossible. It just doesn't work like that. A soul won't split this way, like alder said, it finds the larger one. The speed of light does not limit healing, nor the dawnshards. Most cosmere healing is based on the soul, which goes off the spitual realm. The spirtual realms often ignores speed-of-light problems, since everywhere and everywhen is one point (Quantam stuff or something). The breaths, while more psyical than the dawnshards, are invested in Hoid's soul, and will be carried aloung with his soul. The chunk of hoid in scadrial doesn't have it's own piece of the dawnshard, it's still a part of hoid.

With the asterisks of the dawnshards, they're not assigned a shard. Possibly also the Aethers, though that's contested, and the Aethers might be wrong in this.

Did book 5 affect your feelings of the whole series?
Argenti replied to christianrapper's topic in Cosmere Discussion
He absolutely needed honor to be taken by odium. First off, there's the obvious "Oh my god there's a super shard" factor, which kicks the shards into doing something, rather than just sitting around. They didn't do something when Rayse was murdering random shards across the cosmere before, why would they do anything now? The shards view this double shard as a larger threat, and thus will do something. There's also the aspect of intent, by taking up honor, Taravangian limited what he could do. Honor is very particular about things, and especially with the semi-conciseness of the power, it will limit what T-Ret can do. For example, do you really think he would have left azir with the sun without honor? Of course not, the oath was broken! It had no power over odium. But honor? Honor really wanted to follow it, even if it didn't bind him. -
There's also the fact that he's aware of his fakeness, which certainly isn't health for an entity based on perceptions.

He says he's not broken.

37 Allies, possible new pattern showing up?
Argenti replied to FarHorizon's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Maybe it's the Dor's number? 15 and 12? Otherwise, I think it might just be coincidence. -
Wind and Truth Full Book Reactions (Cosmere Edition)
Argenti replied to LewsTherinTelescope's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I wouldn't call it idiotic, but it is a consequence of Dalinar's actions.
