  2. I finished listening to tWoK! ^^ Now I'm reading Triss by Brian Jacques and listening to Mr. Monster still.
  3. I finally finished listening to The Way of Kings! I am beyond excited! =D

    1. Chaos

      Chaos

I can't wait to see your theorizing!

  4. I have finished listening to The Way of Kings, finally! ZOMG EPIC! I'm heading over to read theories and discussions right now. XD Woohoo!
  5. I don't blame you, though; they're really difficult to pull off. I did it back in high school, but I seem to have long since lost my touch for decent poetry. XD I think it's because I'm not as angsty as I was back then? >.> Also, I would like to announce that my [favorite] brother is now officially an Eagle Scout! Technically he completed all his requirements and did the Board of Review thing months ago, but he just had his Court of Honor yesterday and got the pin, certificate, and all the formalities taken care of. I'm so proud of him. ^^
  6. I don't have anything against how it was written; I think J.K. Rowling did a pretty good job with it. I just don't like Harry anymore. >.> He's kind of a jerk.
  7. My brother's Eagle Scout Court of Honor is today, so I'm actually really busy this weekend helping my family get ready for that (and working), but maybe Sunday or Monday night? Thanks for being willing to help me out with that, it looks pretty overwhelming to someone who's never really done RP before. XD ♥ you, Joe...
  8. *twitches* Did someone say...nuts? *dashes over to the RP* Yeah, I already have one question....where do I start? Not meaning "how do I join" but more...there's so much stuff, where can I fit in? >.>
  9. I studied Spanish for 4 years; I think it didn't really strike me as odd because of that. >.>
  10. Here is today's prompt. I'm going to give it a shot: Today’s prompt is a bit of a smorgasbord, and reflects the fact that we are at day seven. It asks you to write a poem with seven different phrases, ideas, or just plain old “things” in it. These are: 1) an example of synasthetic metaphor — one that describes one sensory perception using adjectives more naturally suited to a different sense (e.g., “a red noise,” or a “a bitter touch”) 2) a fruit 3) the name (first or last) of someone you knew in school 4) a rhetorical question 5) a direct address to the poem’s audience — “Reader” or “mom” or “Michelle,” or maybe just “You”) 6) a word in a foreign language 7) a reference to a game of chance (darts or pool or the lottery or etc). _________________________ How can you, a reader, know What reddish thoughts run through my mind? A haze of bloody tendencies There for only me to find? Like solitaire, I'm solitary Keeping my motivos close Hidden from the world around me Wanting things that no one knows A pink-brushed apple I am not Though Mr. Cherry claims it's so A daring accusation made That only brings unneeded woe I shall unleash the wrath within When certain things have come to pass But till that moment comes to be Remember, troubled, that I last
  11. Where are you, and I'm so sorry, I cannot sleep, I cannot dream tonight; I need somebody and always this sick, strange darkness comes creeping on, so haunting every time; and as I stared I counted the webs from all the spiders, catching things and eating their insides, like indecision to call you and hear your voice of treason. Will you come home and stop this pain tonight, stop this pain tonight....

      Puck

don't waste your time on me; you're already the voice inside my head.

man, that album came out so long ago! good times

  12. *loves on green* Now that's just downright mean! I had no idea you were a meanie! ....Wait. Yes I did. So I have another question: Are you cute? >.> As in, are you fluffy, cuddly, and preferably a kitten?
  13. *raises hand* Yeah--what's your favorite color?
  14. I have to recommend the Old Kingdom books by Garth Nix, they're superb. They were my favorite books of all time until I found the Wheel of Time. Also, anything by Kenneth Oppel--he's more of a YA writer, but his stuff is pretty good. His Silverwing books really left their mark on me as a reader. If you like steampunk, read the Leviathan trilogy by Scott Westerfeld. Only 2 books are out so far, but they're amazing. That's all I can think of for now. >.>
  15. Oh good lordy, I can't remember exactly when I became a die-hard fantasy fan.... I grew up watching Star Wars, so I guess that ensured that I turned into something of a nerd.... I think I read some light fantasy here and there but my introduction to it was really Harry Potter, when I was 8 years old. I read the first book in 3 hours, and since then I've read all the books up to Order of the Phoenix a minimum of 10 times each. After that I also really liked Kenneth Oppel's Silverwing books, and I read The Amber Spyglass when I found it at my school library. I can't remember when I discovered Lord of the Rings, but that was somewhere in my past. >.> It was only a matter of time before I stumbled across a friend who was more of a fantasy fan than I was at the time, and who recommended all the books that led me, eventually, to the Wheel of Time.
  16. I used to really like the books, but now, I've read too many well-written books to think that the Inheritance cycle is that great. Still, I'll probably read Inheritance just to see how the story ends; I own all the other books anyway and I might as well complete the collection. I don't DISLIKE the books, I just don't particularly like them anymore. Not like Harry Potter. I don't know if I could make myself reread those books these days. XD
  17. Sure SOM1, go ahead and shoot me a PM and I'll look over the setup for you. I don't mind not playing, I have enough mafia games on my hands as it is. XD
  18. I can't wait for the surprise, then! ^^ I will definitely check out the RP, I have plenty of free time on my hands lately. XD Hmm, yeah, I've never heard of Choi Kwang Do, but it sounds pretty awesome. I've always had a secret desire to study a martial art, I just never had the money to do it. Maybe someday I will be able to! I haven't read Lord Sunday yet so no spoilers, but do you think Garth Nix did a good job with the ending of the series? >.> I've heard of the 7th Tower books, I just never get around to searching them out and reading them. XD I'll check that one out, too, then!
  19. I would like to announce that I attempted to write a villanelle for NaPoWriMo. It is kind of rough. And junk food is tasty!
  20. When I was in high school, I took an AP English course. In our poetry section, I was introduced to the villanelle, an interesting poetic form. The poem we read was "Do not go gentle into that good night" by Dylan Thomas. It remains, to this day, my favorite poem ever. We also were given the assignment of writing our own villanelles; everyone liked mine but I lost it ages ago, and anyway I should write a fresh one as it's NaPoWriMo, not "Show off Poems You Wrote Ages Ago Month." So here I go, this is my attempt at writing a villanelle. Sadly, I used the same rhymes as Thomas. >.> Dancing smoothly in the misty night Turning gracefully on their way Figures made of shadow and light Drifting in and out of sight There since faded light of day Dancing smoothly in the misty night They leap and twirl, a dance that's quite Unquestionably wild and fey Figures made of shadow and light Stately still, all grace despite Their haunting, fierce display Dancing smoothly in the misty night Heart pounding, soaring like a kite I watch the magic scene at play Dancing smoothly in the misty night Figures made of shadow and light
  21. That's so cool! Any particular place in London you'd recommend hitting up before we head back to Lancaster? Awww, that's awesome! I want to visit Ireland at some point before I die; hopefully if everything works out I'll be moving to England in a few years and I can visit other countries after I get indefinite leave to remain.... ^^ I'm sure you folks will have a blast, though! ^^ Today I'm excited about my close friend's birthday; he's turning 15 and I'm going to shower him with Happy Birthday surprises. I love being friendly.
  22. THAT is the coolest thing I will ever hear today. Maybe even all week.
  23. Hello hello, I'm brand-new here myself but welcome! Maybe we can be newbies here together, eh?
  24. Yeah, balancing games was always an issue I had too; once you start adding in extra roles and stuff you gotta think a lot more about how the game is going to go, and make sure the balance is right. There are always more experienced mods on DM that would be happy to look over any setup you might come up with, to make sure it's okay and not breakable..... The Mafiascum wiki says basically first just go crazy with your game setup. Add whatever roles you want to, etc. After that, run through all the possible scenarios of how the game could go, and prune roles where necessary, or add more if you really want to keep one that's unbalancing the game. I guess the key is to make sure that no role gives the town or the mafia the upper hand. I might take the setup of the Mistborn game I'm in right now, after it's over, and run it here, with the mod's permission (he's my good friend, so he'd probably let me). Or I might come up with my own setup, or we could collaborate and co-mod a game, if that sounds interesting.
  25. I too got into Brandon after Warbreaker was released.... I did think it worked out well, although I only found out about Warbreaker being free online because Brandon himself told me. >.< But it helped me get into him more as an author, and sealed the deal on my fanshipdom. For all that, I don't really have much of an opinion on whether or not it worked.... I think it's nice to have a sample of your work for free to get people interested in you, but only if you're well-known enough that people will even find out that you HAVE something for free. If that even makes sense.
