  1. Does anyone here do any sort of craft-type thing, like knitting or crocheting or sewing? I'm learning to knit and I was just wondering if anyone here does that. >.>
  2. Well, I plan to get my Associate degree in Liberal arts, and then go to a 4-year school and hopefully major in English, leaning toward the Creative Writing thing like Endra. I did want to major in Psychology for a while, and who knows, maybe that'll end up happening, but I want to learn more about writing, because I enjoy it and I want to know how to do it well. Practicing helps, of course, but a college education will be valuable, I'm sure.
  3. Believe it or not, I have this terrible fear of zombies, so I probably wouldn't be able to watch the movies if they made any. >.> Which is horribly disappointing; I LOVE the books. XD
  4. Poem 1: Much Younger Men I don't see how Age matters in the end Isn't it maturity That makes all the difference? If that's the case, Then I'm not a cougar Because everybody knows I'm the least mature of all. Poem 2: Treetops Sunshine, warm and bright Birdspecks lofting high Wondrous is the sight Of trees beneath the sky Poem 3: Delicious Terror This delicious terror Welling up in me Tastes of adrenaline Of racing breath, Pounding heart, Fear of life-ending death; Thrilling and perfect Poem 4: Flicker A flickering flame Moved here and there by each breath A candlelit night Poem 5: Waitress Clinking glasses Hushed murmur of many voices Fork there, spoon here, knife between Don't stop moving, look busy My job is fun
  5. OOooo, really? I'll have to look those up and see if I can't get my hands on them; Mogget is pretty much my favorite Old Kingdom character. Question: If they somehow made Old Kingdom movies, would you go watch them? >.>
  6. @Feather....Your post oozes awesomeness. And I bow to your superior amounts of experience and wisdom, and will memorize your tips!!! (or at least, come back to revisit them often because they're so awesome) @Crazy--I totally used to love milk chocolate, but my tastes have changed a lot in the past couple years and now milk chocolate plain isn't something I'm a fan of, though I'll eat it, because it is still chocolate and chocolate is awesome. And thanks for the suggestion on getting a print copy of WoK; I can't afford it right now or else I'd have gotten one already. =S I only have the audiobook because it was free with the trial membership of Audible. >.> But as soon as I have money....yeah. *nods* @Silus--I love taking online friendships into RL, it's so awesome! Yes, I've read all of the Keys to the Kingdom books except Lord Sunday; I just moved away from my hometown and the local library here doesn't have any Garth Nix at all.... -.- Luckily they do inter-library loans so once I finish an audiobook I should go request that. Have you read his book Across the Wall? It's a collection of short stories by Garth Nix, it's SOOOOOOO amazing. @Joe--You just have to know what to ask, apparently. >.> Yay, a bodyguard!
  7. Good point. Do I have to submit a website to count as a partipant? If so, I think I'll just participate unofficially. XD Do you have a site up, Puck? But yeah, I'm totally in. I'll write 5 poems today to make up for my late start. >.> **edit** I found your blog, and your website, and I think you're doing great so far, though you'll want to get caught up. I really like your poetry, though. I'm hosting my poetry in my blog, too...
  8. I'm going for about a month; we'll mostly be up in Lancaster, but we're planning on hitting London for a week or so as well. And of course we want to go see touristy things and take lots of photos.... Where at in England did you two visit?
  9. Som1, if you have a setup for a mafia game but you're hesitant to run it, I'd always be up for running it. I love modding mafia games. I can always throw a game together and put sign-ups up tomorrow or something, too.... >.>
  10. Hey Kerry! Ooo, awesome surprises, those are, well, awesome! When is the surprise going to be unveiled, might I ask? >.> Ooooooo, RP.... I haven't really ever seriously tried RP, but it always sounds fun. Maybe I'll check it out! Well, I'll DEFINITELY check it out, but maybe I'll participate, too! I'm going to pretend to know all about martial arts and ask which kind of martial arts you teach.... >.> (thus displaying further my true ignorance of the topic, no doubt ) It's nice to meet you too, everyone has been very friendly so far and I'm enjoying this forum already. Hmm... I had a question to ask, but then I lost it.... So this random topic generator asks, "Chocolate or vanilla?" In general I like vanilla-flavored and scented things more than chocolate, but I do love me some dark chocolate and chocolate chip cookies....
  11. So I noticed there was a rant thread; how about a happy thread? What are you excited about? What joys have come into your life recently that you just want to express your excitement about? I'm super-excited that I get to go to England in September; the tickets are bought and everything! The trip is going to be amazing, I just can't wait for the day to arrive when my friend and I leave for the airport! Also, I just started my new job on Thursday, and it's going great! Yay for earning money!
  12. I would like to announce that I am playing in a Mistborn-themed mafia game over on the Dragonmount forums. Yeah. It's awesome. Also, I wonder if anyone here plays mafia, elsewhere?
  13. Darn, I wish I'd heard of this sooner! I love writing poetry!
  14. Awesome, I shall present myself there and participate! I like livening places up, too, so watch out! Yes!!!!!!! Okay, awesome story.... My best friend was rereading Lirael while I was spending the night at her house, and she let me read it. I stayed up ALL night reading Lirael, and took Abhorsen home with me the next day. I read Sabriel a few weeks later. They quickly became my MOST FAVORITEST books EVAR and stayed that way for several years. Then when I was a junior in high school a few years back, I took Creative Writing and we had a student teacher. One of our assignments was a "Rent-a-Character" short story, and I "rented" Mogget (because, let's face it, Mogget is the best). Our student teacher was so impressed with my story that she asked me about where I'd gotten my character from. I recommended the Abhorsen trilogy, she recommended the Wheel of Time, and my life has not been the same since (because yeah, I found Brandon Sanderson b/c of WoT). End of short awesome story. I was actually glad to have read Lirael and Abhorsen first, because when my brother read Sabriel first, he was disappointed with Lirael because it wasn't about Sabriel anymore. Whereas I read Sabriel as almost a prequel.
  15. Ninja posts... -.- Awesome! I guess I can look around, but is there a particular board where the writers hang out? >.>
  16. LAWL, I don't mind being stalked, I'm used to the paparazzi and all. >.> See what I mean? I'm being stalked already! Good thing I love the attention. (and I LOVE THAT YOU GOT THE REFERENCE YOU'RE MY NEW FAVORITE)
  17. Aaaaaaah, ninja-posts! I am answering them, hold on. >.>
  18. *looks up upon hearing her name called* Excellent question! What do I do? Hmmmm.... Well, I was going to make up some fascinating story about how I work as a psychic for a hotline, but then I decided the truth works just as well. Right now I'm just working part-time as a waitress for Hotel Nauvoo's "World-Famous Buffet." I hope to get another job as tourism picks up this spring so I can save up tons of money because I am flying out to England with a friend in September. To visit Joe. I took classes at a community college in 2009, but I kind of dropped out of that because my heart wasn't in it; now I actually WANT to go back to school and am working to make that happen. Hopefully I can take some online classes and start this fall. It's a work in progress, but I think I can make it happen. Um, I want to be an English or Creative Writing major, though since I'll be at a junior college I'll probably just major in Liberal Arts and wait till I can get into a 4-year university to go with my intended field of study. I'm also kind of writing a book. I say kind of because I started it for NaNoWriMo, got to 50K words, kept going a little bit, and then my creativity and ideas just kind of petered out. I'm still working on it, but not nearly as much as I was before, and I'm trying to get my inspiration back. XD Writing is hard sometimes, I tell ya.
  19. I LOVE these books; I just finished The Wise Man's Fear a few days ago, or maybe a week ago, can't remember. >.> I can't say which one is my favorite so far; Rothfuss is just amazing with his writing. I really like how the story develops in tWMF though; and I guess I can't say too much more without getting into spoilerish stuff, so I'll wait for other people to finish first. Unless people don't mind spoilers. >.>
  20. I'm reading...no, wait, I'm not reading anything right now. I have about 5 audiobooks to finish yet before I get to read anything else. >.> I'm LISTENING to The Way of Kings right now, as well as Mr. Monster by Dan Wells. I have over half of WoK finished, it's all downhill from here, I hope, because I have a bookreading goal this year and can't afford to dilly-dally around.
  21. Hello, folks, it's Darth Squirrely here. You can call me Darth, Squirrely, Meesh, or "Hey You." I'm not fussed. Ummm....should I introduce myself more than that? Sure, why not.... I'm 19, almost 20, I'm a fan of Brandon's, though I discovered him because I was a WoT fan first. I was a Storm Leader at the Chicago signing of the tour for The Gathering Storm, and I was really impressed with Brandon Sanderson, so I checked out more of his stuff (I did get a free copy of The Final Empire at DCon about a month previous to my Storm Leader-ship) and loved it. I like to read, write, sing, laze around and spend time on the internet. If I had to choose a favorite Sanderson work, it would be the Mistborn books. Though I'm a little over halfway through Way of Kings right now and I do love it. Umm, if anyone has any questions, they can go ahead and ask me, I like talking about myself. Oh, and I joined this site because my boyfriend told me I should.
  22. "Joe ST has no profile comments yet. Why not say hello?"
