  1. “Merl, herald of Dax, the rainmaker. You can just call me Merl,” he ripped a vine off his shoulder, “I seem to have lost my rainmaker!”
  2. Merl stood, shaking off the wriggling bits of vine from his trousers. “Thank you! Craven, was it? Sounds like a noble name!” he turned to Andante, stomping on a vine that was coming close to (her? His?) foot. “Those little swords are very useful.”
  3. That’s good, but no. 1. Complains a lot 2. is known for his skills
  4. I can post again!
  5. I’ll take it. 1. This character complains a lot
  6. Merl fell over, his legs enveloped in vines. The tree canopy began to grow together, slowly blocking out what little light they had.
  7. “Hey! Pale man!” Merl yelled, stomping on vines. “Come help! I don’t have anything to cut these vines.”
  8. It has evolved since then. So far, the story goes that a baker and his wife were making classic idris desserts, cookies. The wife was killed by assassins because she was collecting too many breaths, she gave those breaths to her husband as she died and he didn’t want them so he put them in one of the cookies. Because of how invested it was, it wouldn’t go bad. He put it in a locked box and told his children that their mother’s soul was inside. After generations, the investiture molded into what people thought of it as (as investiture does) making a sapient cookie with the mother’s personality. Eventually they discovered hemalurgy blah blah blah now a cookie with the power of the lord ruler leading and army made from a cult of her descendants is trying to become a shard Dont worry, a very bad San-fic will eventually be released about her
  9. Merl stayed behind Stefan, warding off any dyrelings that came behind with his staff. “Now I’m grateful for that armor of yours. It’s a shame I took from Dax when I did.”
  10. merl, stumbles to his feet, still leaning on his staff. ”I’m too tired for this right now.” but he breaks into a defensive stance.
  11. “Incredible.” merl seemed to use that word a lot, “we have similar ideas about different worlds where I am from. Except in our culture, we know that worlds are all the greatest of creatures, ones beyond our imagining. But you must have some stories to tell, with all those worlds you’ve been to.” Merl sees crispin and jers nearby. ”and what about you two? There are many people here I have not met yet”
  12. “But it’s so… uncomfortable. If this snow grows on mountains, every beast would have it on its back! Anyhow, now that I’ve met some of your knights I am very intrigued and impressed. Tell me more.”
  13. “Yes, unfortunately. There are not quite so many where I am from, many have been leveled. Excuse me, I must sit down.” Merl flopped to the ground, spread eagle. ”I have to ask. WHAT is this cold white powder on me?”
  14. “I couldn’t agree more.” He glances to the side, “Ah, lord Stephen! Was it as good a show as it felt?”
  15. Merl and Stefan land firmly on the ground, throwing up chips of rock. Merl’s glow fades. “This might have been a bad idea, my lord is in pain.” He catches sight of his staff laying on the ground a few strides over, he picks it up and leans against it, looking weary. “But thank you anyway. It was invigorating.”
  16. “Merl. And yes, it’s better we take it slow. Dax will be too tired to lend me strength for a while. We can probably get back in a few bounds.” He dug his feet into the snow for support and offered Stefan his arm. “How are you with heights?”
  17. “Oh, that? I jumped. With a mountain sized creature’s strength all concentrated in my legs, we can jump pretty far. I would say we went a few greatstrides. Quite a trap you got me in there. A blade that flies, incredible! You’re the rightful winner of that duel, I’d say. Shall we jump back?”
  18. Merl sees the glint of the sword in the corner of his eye. It’s close, too close for comfort. “call off your sword I yiel-“ they hit the mountain.
  19. Merl slams into him, paying no heed to his surroundings, they are both carried past blurred trees and hills. A hill rises slowly on the horizon in front of them, and the rainbow sword catches up slowly from behind.
