  1. Thank you! Everyone here is so nice! And smart, answers are easy to come by. Thank you again!
  2. so your bondsmith rank is based on your upvotes not your number of posts correct?
  3. Ive seen people with gold names and seen people with grey names. How does the reputation and the title system work? Do get different titles do people have to like your posts? Or is it number based? I'm confused and request assistance!
  4. i know what the metals do dont worry . i didnt realise what you meant by allomantic speed. and i agree fully with your standpoint on it. thanks for your info!
  5. When you say allomantic speed what metal do you mean? I'm confused. Pewter or bendalloy bubble? And yes I meant a movable personal bendalloy bubble. Thank you for clarifying
  6. I decided to post it to see what others think cause the mechanics of feruchemy aren't obvious to everyone. I have my opinions on the topic of how speed works but certain people may disagree, and cosmere is interesting to debate.
  7. Ah that makes more sense that what I was thinking of. The only reason I have to disagree cannot be said in this specific forum (RoW spoiler) so. But I do have small evidence for why I believe it's investure based and so may need some connective stuff
  8. From what I understand, perfect pitch allows the user to hit any note they wish with flawless accuracy, as long as they have the breaths for it (second heightening I think is 200? Could be wrong) My question, how does perfect pitch know what notes the user needs to hit? Like if there were 2 songs basically identical other than one note, how would the ability know which note to let them hit? I propose it is a sort of connection between the cognative intension and the song itself. I believe it's confirmed music spren exist so I don't think this is too far fetched Lemme know what you all think!
  9. I read an almost essay length answer about speed feruchemy a while ago, which covered a well written theory on how speed worked. They said it was slowing down the time it took to perform actions (speed=distance÷time). When bleeder uses speed, she's seen as a blur Of course we know another thing that makes speed look like a blur. Bendalloy bubbles. I propose that speed slows down the time it takes to complete actions by essentially erecting a miniature bendalloy bubble around the user (and specifically the user) that's intensity varies with the amount of speed being tapped from the steelmind and a cadium bubble when the user is filling. admittedly the cadium bit is less solid as it doesn't slow time for the user but makes them seem as if they are 'moving through molasses' but the first part holds. Lemme know what you all think! If I can find it I'll link the original paper in the message somewhere. https://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/55640-feruchemical-steel-steelrunning-a-comprehensive-conglomeration/#:~:text=You store a percentage of,the shorter period of time.
  10. i had considered that but didnt assume it would take THAT much investure. Kaladin during the final ob battle was quite literally streaming with enough stormlight to blind onlookers (not mentioned but i believe he says he is near overflowing with the stuff at some point) after being near honours perpendicularity, and i had assumed that it would take less than that. there is a high chance im wrong though, investure levels being strange as they are. though i suppose he never tried to lash amarams (spelling may be off) two shardblades so your point is probably true, unless he assumed hed be unable to anyways or it would be worthless to do given amaram can summon it back. anyways thank you all for commenting! hope to see everyone in later questions
  11. Alright, makes sense. Thank you for answering, this has been helpful! Conclusion: it takes a lot of stormlight (or investure in general) to destroy an invested object like a blade, plate or metalmind, but it is doable Investure will negate investure in this way, but stronger investure will overrule the other spren are likely unable to be divisioned, as they are fragments of pure power, even the animalistic ones surges are useful but not limitless is this all correct before this gets closed?
  12. Allow me to rewrite. We know living shardblades are spren in blade form, or even dead ones for that matter, so would a blade be able to be destroyed by division?
  13. Apologies, I had thought that was pre RoW. I realise my mistake and have changed it
  14. We know from the use of transformation that an invested objects are harder to soulcast than non invested (jasnah I believe said this) and that investure often interferes with investure in the cosmere. The surge of division has been seen to destroy or burn all the things it touches so far, but none have been invested. I am aware that division can split atoms apart (though not the atom itself) but again haven't seen any sources saying it's affect on an invested object or person (as we know division can be used on a person) My question is does an invested object work with the division surge. Does it take more stormlight to destroy, or does it simply not affect it? Shardblades destroy plates over time so would it take time for division to take effect? Would it resist?
  15. Ah thank you for clearing that up. I assumed from spook as an example that control wasn't incredibly precise for savants (him being the only confirmed savant we have, wax having meant to be one but not confirmed yet). And they grow to rely on this greater investure when using their abilities yes? What are the main downsides then? Overwhelming senses for tin yes, but other than that it would be better to be a savant no? Why would one not want to be one?
  16. Thank you very much. Looking at the metals in relation to the spiritweb, I read somewhere that the metals act like a conduit for or preservations power and shapes it into the effect? Like a keyhole? My understanding is that savantism chips away at the keyhole, allowing more power to go through at the expense of control and being able to cut the flow through easily. Is this correct?
  17. Apologies, didn't know where to put this
  18. So Ive been into the cosmere for a while and have been searching the forums for this but I can't find any answers. Savantism is the end result of overflaring metals too often and damaging the spiritweb as a result yes? Questions are: How exactly does it damage the spiritweb? How does savantism itself occur in relation to preservations power and the metals as a conduit when burning? How long does it take to become a savant? Those are a few I thought up. New here, hope this piques someone's interest
