  1. You'll be back...

Dear Theodosia (or something like that)

    I just finished Hamilton.

I... that was an amazing experience of history and music.

There were things I didn't like, some of the swear words and the abundance of them, that one scene that I know you know, their portrayal of Thomas Jefferson. But... there were the amazing things too.

The music, just all of it, the casting choices, the brilliant interpretations of historical things, the awesomeness of Jonathon Groff.

Wait, let's talk about Jonathon Groff for a minute. It's Kristoff from FROZEN. That laugh of his in that one continuation of you'll be back. Jonathon Groff is the best part of this movie. Screw the story, screw the character arcs, screw the music, Jonathon Groff is the best.

Speaking of characters, that whole thing at the end where Angelica was like "Eliza's happiness means more to me than anything. I hope you're happy, Alexander." That was just... that was a pure genius ending to her arc. It ended all question to where her loyalties lay. It was BRILLIANT.

    Amazing! 9 outta 10! AMAZING!

HAMILTON IS SO GOOD. 12/10! Soundtrack, acting, staging, everything fantastic!

  2. Stellan Skarsgard would make a stellar Prof in a Reckoners adaption. Just look at his performance as Luthen in Andor and tell me he isn't perfect.

      YEP

He's perfect, just throw a lab coat on him and we're ready for filming.

Now we just have to find out who would play the other characters, cause I've got nothing.

  3. Yeah... there was a lot of things I noticed, especially in Shardcast stuff from the way y'all were talking on there. Y'all almost had me on that April Fools episode. Whenever you guys get to it, it'll be good regardless.
  4. Ahh, cause I've just been wondering about it. Makes sense if there's a lot of stuff happening. Thanks for the update.
  5. If we're bringing up reputation, and mods are looking at this... Rep limit change Is the rep limit change stuff still being looked at or is it just discarded at this point?
  6. I win. Definitely Let's get this show on the road again!

    I need to quit

I need to just let it be and quit it.

No excuses, I just need to quit...

Not here, oh no, not this wonderful place that practically bleeds encouragement, optimism and pure awesomeness. No, the toxicity of Minecraft roleplay. I know, I said I quit. And I did. But then some things started going insane and friends were messaging me about it...

Mc friends, if you're reading this, sorry.

    I have no excuses anymore.

I just need to let it be and move on to what I truly want and need to be doing

First and foremost, spending time with my family and friends who perhaps need a friend too.

Second of all, writing. I've been replacing it with roleplaying which has helped in writing, but hasn't... hasn't been a very healthy form.

Third, my physical body, I've been neglecting exercise among other physical activity.

    Fourth,

    mental

    health.

Mental health, it turns out, is important, folks.

That is all. Now I need to go tell them I quit and call it good.

If you need me, I'll be doing that, writing like a madman or playing a Dune boardgame with the family.

      mental health IS important.

im on sertraline now for depression and anxiety, and i have therapy. go on bike rides, get some cardio, and other things that make you feel good.

do spiritual things too: pray, study scripture, read conference talks, etc.

      y e s

I must find a way to come.

  11. I would, but I don't think I actually have the time now... maybe another time.
  12. The first time I finished Dune: Messiah, I looked at the cover for a moment, then I set it down and said, "What a waste of time, that was a bunch of garbage." Then, a few months later, I finished Dune for like the third time and decided to give it another go. And I realized what a masterpiece it was. The story is, as you say in your essay, about human fallibility and how everyone is mortal. It's about how sometimes there are things that we just can't do. Paul Atreides is a character with complex motivations, goals, wants, needs, failings, triumphs, corruption and so much more. Messiah is the story of a complex figure, given a mythological view by the public eye because of what he did. It's the story of someone painted as a hero, a legend given life, who doesn't want to be the hero, someone who wants to be his own man. The future molds him, the future is trying to shape him into a God who can lead humanity on the Golden Path to a greater existence. But, in the end, our tragic hero realizes his own faults and knows that he cannot do what is asked of him. And, so, he goes on the path to where someone else can do what he cannot. Where he can do his own thing at his own pace. He loses so much in the process, but he gains what he wanted in the end. Paul Atreides, in rebelling from that future, great and good at the end as it is, gets what he wants and needs for himself. He gets to do his own thing, pave his own path, leave behind the darkness and corruption necessary to bring about the good of mankind. Some say that he is a coward for doing this. I both agree and disagree. On the one hand, Paul Atreides is selfish in abandoning this path. But, on the other, this is a very human thing to do. It helps paint the picture that the author perhaps wanted to portray. That picture that heroes aren't perfect people, that everyone makes mistakes and that we have to know when we can't do what we're asked to do and know when to step aside and let someone stronger take the lead. Paul Atreides, despite how much he doesn't want the title, is a hero. Once the responsibilities for leading the Golden Path passed from him, only Paul remained. Just Paul. Simply... Paul. And, so, I end this response to your wonderful essay about an even more wonderful book with this: Dune: Messiah is a story about what it means to be human. And that, in and of itself, makes it the most relatable of the Dune Chronicles that I've read.
  13. Spoiler

"You know... they used to call me a Jedi.

"I was one of their best, one of their warriors, one of their chosen, one of their peace keepers.

"They said I was meant to bring balance, bring peace.

"My old master said I was supposed to destroy the Sith, not join them.

"But he, like the others, never understood.

"I was doing as I was supposed to do.

"There was a need for a period of darkness so that the light afterwards could flourish.

    "I am the Chosen One.

"I am Anakin Skywalker, Darth Vader, Lord of the Sith, Apprentice of Obi-Wan Kenobi, and, most important of all,

    "I am Balance."

The holocron buzzed softly, turning off in Luke Skywalker's left hand. The blond haired Jedi just stared at the blue crystalline holocron in his hand, his militaristic black uniform seeming to glow eerily from the reflected light of the holocron and his lightsaber, which was held in his right hand. The castle which Luke was in had been owned by his father, Anakin Skywalker. The dark halls were filed with a creepy, evil presence that always had him on edge, but knowing that this had been his father's home made it that much easier to traverse their halls. The holocron had been found in a chest with a few other items of interest: a few lightsabers, some blasters, some maps of distant places.

"Father..." He whispered, finally smiling softly, "You constantly amaze me..."

As you can see, I have found a new appreciation for the Prequels. And for Anakin's arc, though it was poorly executed.

They could've been fantastic movies if some scenes were revised, the dialogue was edited a bunch (specially in RotS where it needed to be spectacular), if George wasn't directing all three. He should've only directed Phantom and then let others direct the other two. Like, say, David Filoni directing RotS or AotC.

So, I still like those movies, I just wish they could've been done better.

  16. E I win, your winnings are merely delusions of grandeur, for, mine is the only true winning known to reality in this thread.
  17. "everyone except you." Something shifted in the thread. Something dark. Something unholy. Something shadowy. Something burst into existence nearby Tilly. Shadow, cameo holder of role-plays, arrived. He stood there with his suit and tie, both a dark velvety shade of purple, his eyes like a raven's, his hair as dark as night, "Rp, in TLPW? The universe really is falling..." He snapped his fingers and roleplay ended, thereby removing Shadow.
  18. Yes. TPBM knows how much of a Paine in the butt Common Sense was to the British in the Revolutionary War. History joke.
  19. *cursing*

It makes sense now, the ending for Count of Monte Cristo.

    Friiiiick.

    It's so good.

It's not just about revenge, but redemption.
