The Longest Thread (Misadventures)
Thaidakar the Ghostblood replied to ElephantEarwax's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
nahhhh, it'll just be where it is. he'll find him when I bring in Spook. Nowhere turned, raising an eyebrow, "Excuse me?" Impossible stood next to him, holding a rather large sword, though it wasn't Mordite. Impossible grunted, raising his blade towards the gooey figure who was talking to the poor person named Nobody, "Stop eating him." "You want to know why?" Thaidakar lifted the hood, revealing his face. "Because there is no other way to get what I want. If I help you, it will ruin what I'm doing. Platypus, there are things in motion in TLT that I can only change if I do this. I cannot interfere in what you are doing with Desolation because, if I do, I will survive in the end. And if I survive in the end of all of this, it will not work. None of this will work. But, I will tell you one thing, I'm allowed to, anyways: You need to stop Desolation from getting Mordite. If Desolation gets Mordite, I want you to find me and kill me. Immediately." He walked forward, his clothes forming into his normal scholar's attire. He grabbed Platypus by his shoulders and looked directly into his eyes with his intense gaze, "Promise me that you'll do this for me, my friend. We may be enemies, but we've been friends as you keep insisting. We still are, I think."- 111832 replies

Thaidakar the Ghostblood replied to ElephantEarwax's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
"I am sorry, Platypus," he said without looking back at him. "If I interfere, it will ruin my plans... to interfere would be to do the opposite of what I need to do. You have my apologies." Feanor turned, his robe forming around him, "Do not forget, we are still enemies. I am still the Antagonist. If Desolation thinks he is the main villain of TLT, he will have many to deal with. I am not the main villain either. We must not forget the Witherlord lest we grow lazy in our short but wonderful peace that we had." It'll take a good while. I don't plan on Spook being killed or manipulated too easily. And, yeah, I can see how Desolation would think that. "You do not understand, Desolation. Every instruction I will give you is necessary. Get your Plotblade, but Mordite is necessary for you to achieve what you want." Feanor was the antagonist before Desolation came onscreen. And, besides, I've been planning on Feanor and the voice for ages now. Feanor is still a main antagonist and quite current.- 111832 replies

Thaidakar the Ghostblood replied to ElephantEarwax's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Spook is in his early twenties at mind and holds the Plotblade of Character as you said. Spook is currently hidden in a place that I think I've visited in the role-play at least once before. He can be found eventually, but it will take some searching. Spook being manipulated won't be as easy as Desolation thinks, however. There's been some fun stuff happening with Spook off camera. The voice is also something you'll want to be wary of. There's some antagonists and villains I have planned for the near and far future. The voice, sensing this train of thought, whispered, "Mordite is what you need... It cannot be removed as easily as you think. It is what the Withergeists are made of. They were powerful beings that destroyed many, many people. Do not underestimate what you can need for this plan. Patience, Desolation, patience..."- 111832 replies

How Way of Kings Should Have Begun
Thaidakar the Ghostblood replied to Benedictify's topic in Cosmere Discussion
We have to remember that Kalak's scene isn't the prelude to the Way of Kings. Rather, it's the prelude to The Stormlight Archive as a whole. It's not exactly meant to be understood the first time around. Ahartiam could've been told in epigraphs, but we wouldn't have gotten the exact feeling of cowardice that we needed to get from the Heralds at the beginning to show us that they weren't gods. And, plus, it foreshadows things for later books in a better way than the epigraphs could've. -

The Longest Thread (Misadventures)
Thaidakar the Ghostblood replied to ElephantEarwax's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Thaidakar Von Kelsier, Narrator extraordinaire, resident philosopher and one of the current antagonists knew that, to the person he used to be, he was doing the wrong thing. Currently, he knew he was doing something that, in the end, despite its unsavory nature, would bring about something beautiful. Something he could be proud of. It was, in his eyes, unfortunate that no-one would see the true purpose of what he was doing. But that was one of the sacrifices he had to make. It killed him inside that he had to watch them all regard him as a horrible person, but he knew that that this was the only way. And that scared him to the very core. What if what he was doing wasn't good... What if his plan failed and he ended up in history as the villain of the story? He didn't want that. Thaidakar stroked the side of a dust covered painting in a library in the ruins of a city he loved very much. He missed the days when he could ignore the tragedies, when he could ignore the cruel side of TLT. When he could ignore what had been done to him and what he'd seen. He dearly wanted to be back in ignorance of the truth, those glorious days of inconsequential battles, those squabbles over things no-one truly cared about. That had all changed in his mind on one crucial day. One moment had changed it all. That's all it had taken, one moment. And that moment had shown him the truth of the place he had used to call home. TLT never valued hard work, not unless it was illogical. That was the way Thaidakar thought now. TLT was cruel. It valued no work over hard work. It valued those who didn't try to save people over those who wanted, in their hearts, to help. And... Thaidakar wanted to change that. Change it so that people like him could find their place in the world. It had to change somehow. He'd sat down in the afterlife after he'd realized this and had come up with the plan. It had taken a while, but he'd finally sent it back into the past where the past version of himself had discovered it and implemented it, removing their own memory at the perfect time. Things could finally change. He just had to help them along to the point where he could let go and let them do it themselves. He smiled softly, wiping the dust off of the painting, "Change... the selfish people will no longer have control over us, love. We'll finally be free..." A woman's face stared back at him lifelessly from the portrait. Of course she did. Could he expect her to talk back to him? He wasn't in some kind of Rowling novel, after all. A part of him was disappointed, despite that. "I wish you were here right now... then we could join our purposes and fix this place. I wish you were here to guide me and figure this out. I wish you were here to tell me the truth of it if I'm wrong or right in what I'm doing. You're the only person I ever could truly talk to... The only one who understood what I was seeking to do in my life... Come back to me." If only she could. If only she'd be able to come back. It had taken nearly every trick in the book to remember her, to remember her and so that others could. If he hadn't, even her sons- even Spook would've forgotten her. And, yet, he hadn't. He'd immediately sensed the hole, immediately had seen that there was someone he'd used to talk to about everything, someone closer to him than anyone in his life. He still didn't remember everything from the hole in his memory, the hole in everyone's memory, for that matter, but he remembered her. And that was enough. And... the other things he could remember... those were what changed it for him. Those were the reasons why he knew that he was doing was for the greater good. For, what was lost was what needed to be found. And, with that knowledge, Thaidakar knew that it was coming. In the end, Spook must've been wrong. For, if he was right... Thaidakar wouldn't be able to live with what he'd been doing. If Spook was right, Thaidakar would be forced to remove his defenses next time he faced Platypus and, by doing that, he would be letting Platypus kill him once and for all. Because... if Spook truly was right about what he'd seen... if the roles were different than Thaidakar perceived... he would truly be the villain of the story. He would be the person he never wanted to become. And that in and of itself would be unbearable. Eyyy, if you want any tips, I can lend you some. A very, very, very good example of an invincible character is Homelander in The Boys. I haven't watched the show, but I've seen a load of clips of it. He is just the best written villain I've probably seen clips of. The shard is the best, to respond to your later stuff. We admit when we're wrong and we don't make a big fuss about it... We don't have toxic people like it was in the MC role-play stuff. Soooo muuuuuch better. Desolation, in my head, classifies, if not as an evil person, as an antagonist. Whenever I say villain or evil person, I generally am meaning an antagonist in general.- 111832 replies

The Longest Thread (Misadventures)
Thaidakar the Ghostblood replied to ElephantEarwax's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
There was a brief silence. Finally, the voice said, "No. Offer him the chance to experiment on the unbridled power of a Narrator in exchange for his assistance in our efforts. He is not one to refuse an offer like that." Invincible characters can be fantastic if written correctly. If they're just there to be like "I can't be killed, go ahead and try it." If heroes are coming in who're supposed to be really good, it won't be great writing. BUT, then again, if they're given character and have problems in themselves about several different things or have a certain unpredictability that maybe, if they slip, they can be killed... there can be some amazing things done with invincible characters. Like, I might, in the future, have a character who has to almost constantly think about being invincible to be invincible, so they get injured when they're distracted. Then I could put in things where they feel like they're slipping and feel like if they're invincible, they're something different, something freakish. Characters need reasons to be invincible in their makeup. The doesn't undermine how good an invincible villain can be without these reasons for why on the surface. With Thaidakar, I'm on the edge of this and am in dire need of showing what's going on in his head, otherwise he'll turn into just that one OP guy who's doing what he's doing for nigh inconceivable reasons. Speaking of which... ima write a Thaidakar scene that shows this because, as I said, I need to do this to not make myself look like a hypocrite after saying this.- 111832 replies

Ooooh, that'll work out nicely, as long as you're fine with it taking almost entire days to get responses because school. "Nowhere has labs all around TLT in locations little known." The voice said. "Nowhere and his assistant Impossible disappeared after a long while. I believe you can find them, however, where TLT began. They may be studying how to fabricate Narration without having a Narrator on hand."- 111832 replies

"If I had Mordite... I would use it to kill the person who murdered Lindy and my son. Surely you have more sympathy for vengeance coming from a character than from a Narrator. I'm no Narrator, so, as you are against Narrators, it seems you have no quarrel against me." He said simply.- 111832 replies

"Even if I did have Mordite, why should I when I have Unintelligible on my side?" Micheal said. Micheal slid his fingers against each other in his pocket, a small note appearing in front of Moni saying "Come, Desolation is here. I need your help to stop him from killing us." @Nameless*- 111832 replies

Of your many awesome OCs, which one would you say is your least favorite of them?
-
Guys-
I did it.
I have a full their list of how I rank ever novel and short story by Brandon Sanderson that I've read. Some things could be moved around easily, specifically the top few and middle few, but it's a pretty complete view of my opinions.
Here ya go if any of you want to see it.
Don't get me wrong, I liked almost all of the books (except for like white sand and the eleventh metal) but this is how they go in terms of comparison. I stand by my rankings for the most part here, though Skyward and Starsight should probably be closer together.

Because it just does not compute in my mind. I like Rysn, I like the Dawnshard, I like the sleepless, I feel like it wasn't a good collection of things I liked turned into a story.
Don't get me wrong, it's a great novella, but it is not better than all the other things (welllll maybe better than Cytonic).
Also, don't get why people don't like Aether of Night. Then again, I read it when my taste in books was far less refined and I didn't notice bad plot structure then. It aint better than a lot of the books, but it's still a great story imo.

I get it. Just not your cup of tea. I still need to read Aether of Night tho. Don't know much about it.
