  1. Kerin deflated. “Oh. Well, that’ll be five chits up front, then.”
  2. “Where’s Allera?” Kerin asked.
  3. Allera didn’t respond.
  4. Inside the hatch, Allera pressed a button. They heard the ship doors open.
  5. Allera slid back into the hatch. @Channelknight Fadran
  6. Not really. I don’t like them much, but I’ll eat one in a pinch. TPBM has completed more than 40 totk shrines.
  7. “Perfect.” Allera let out a breath, then checked to see how Variance was holding up.
  8. “Like. I. Said. Someone is already going to get help. “LEAVE. NOW.” He grinned slyly. “I’ll go wherever Allera needs me.”
  9. “I am watching my friend. They’re currently having some sort of magic epileptic fit, and my other friend is going to get help. And you’re distracting me. So please leave.” If Allera went outside the ship and there happened to be a mindmage guard on patrol, they would be done for.
  10. “This morning, there were no devices of any sort attached to my ship. I don’t see how that could have changed.” “That would be me.”
  11. The clerk returned, another Winged at their side. They looked older than the clerk, and had darker feathers. “What do you need?” they asked, eyes gleaming. “Can you describe the device?”
  12. “Wait.” Allera blinked. “What device?”
  13. “Mewre, this is my private ship. Please leave or I will alert the authorities.” Merwe was a polite Winged term; they knew the person’s translator chip would insert the equivalent in their language. “Oh. Oh! Stay here. I’ll get Mewre Kerin.” The clerk dashed into the back of the shop.
  14. What? If the person was here for Allera, this was an odd way of getting their attention. They decided to take a risk. “This spaceship is fully registered and authorized,” they said, stepping out of the compartment. “What ‘thing’ do you speak of?”
  15. Allera didn’t respond. They tried to keep their breathing steady. It’s okay. In… out… in… out…
  16. Gales. Allera tapped on one of the walls twice, and a small compartment opened up, which they slid into and closed.
  17. “How can I help you?” asked the clerk, a bespectacled Winged with sleek grey-and-black feathers.
  18. The shop was somewhat of an anomaly. Wedged between two large, imposing buildings, it looked more than a bit out of place. Unlike most of the buildings Ayia had passed, it practically burst with life; only three stories tall, plants of all kinds adorned every inch of its wooden frame, to the point where it looked like it was made of curling vines and bright, colorful flowers.
