  1. I'd lean towards expressed more profoundly and altered a bit, but still recognizably the same resonance (i.e. Windrunner who is Savant of Adhesion might have extra tight-nit group of squires, whereas Windrunner who is Savant of Gravitation would attract more people to their orbit than usual, but that 'surpluss' would also leave more easily). Possibly. The original idea of resonance stems from constructive interference, so greater peak of wave (more power) more pronounced resonance. Though remember that Resonances are more 'metaphysical' than direct powers, so the greater power would not be necessarily that noticeable. I'd say this is similar to effect Savantism would have, so yes. Different means, but similar outcome.
  2. And The Almighty is just another name for Shard Honor. That is why Heralds are sacred. Heralds were also elevated, so having assistance of Herald to elevate someone would not be sacrilege, at least not in eyes of all. You asked for possible reasons for restoring Honor, this is one reason. Them choosing another option to fight, does not mean this is not a possible reason. Not to mention that contest of champions works only because Dalinar acts as if he was Honor (by virtue of being bonded to Stormfather who merged with cognitive aspect of Honor). If you think that is rational you were not paying attention. Odium has little reason to negotiate if he is in position of strength, which he is so long as Honor is dead. Only because Rayse is impatient (and Shard is struggling against him) did he agree to Contest. Smart Odium would simply continue crushing humans till either Dalinar agreed, or he could manipulate e.g. Ishar to stealing Bondsmith and freeing Odium. You seem to be missing the fact that Odium is malicious by nature, and his plan is to basically enslave the entire Rosharan civilization as his slave armies for Cosmere conquest. That is no desirable outcome. No, that was Odium quite likely in both cases. Regarding point one, we have zero information on the circumstances of what happened after Ashynites arrived. Only that within ~20ish years after arriving, Honor has switched to supporting Humans, Odium supported Singers, and Honor created Heralds to protect humans. (You might notice that basically all acts of Honor are in order to protect something or someone). Desolation are result of Odium trying to escape, and Honor being blinded by Intent. And the reason Odium is there, is that he wanted to kill both Honor and Cultivation. Odium is the aggressor who arrived into the system intending to kill and splinter Shards, so it is Odium that plunged Roshar into Desolations. No Odium, no Desolations. No Honor, destroyed or enslaved Roshar. I have no idea how you got that from reading the books. Without Honor there would be no humans or singers left on Roshar! They would be enslaved as Fused to Odium, waging war on everything in Cosmere, killing civilizations and Shards. If you seriously think they should be happy about the sole reason for their continued survival being dead, then will all due respect (and I honestly don't know how else to phrase this) you might have some issues with reading comprehension. Honor is the primary reason humans (and free Singers) even have a chance of survival, not to mention being the reason e.g. Scadrial was not wiped out by Odium millenia ago. Blaming effectively a murder victim for not protecting everyone else but themselves well enough (since they you know...got killed protecting others), is certainly a bold statement.
  3. Because Honor is their god, and many believe in it? Because enemy (Singers) have Shard on their side, so having one would help level the playing field? Because it is better than alternative (see The Evil, Dor plasma storm, etc.)? Because they might feel compelled by their Oaths (Unite, etc.)? Take your pick, there is a lot of reasons. Enemy has a Shard on their side, having one to counter it is vital. At first sure. Eventually, checked by the Intent. And handing that power to someone might be better alternative. Ehm, there is some difference between undirect power of god and broken chair. One cannot get sentience on its own, nor create plasma storms. It is altruism, because Honor has provable history of helping people (as far as we know). They helped save humans after they destroyed Ashyn, they protected humans from Singers and Odium (Oathpact), and they are protecting wider Cosmere from Odium. So yeah, restoring Honor is potentially altruistic act, both on Roshar level, and on Cosmere level. And saying ''no one'' wants a Shard, is rather ridiculous statement. @Quantus answered that rather well. Either she had to wait for optimal conditions for proper Vessel (which is not unusual for Shards), or it required Desolation to start again (so that Stormfather would be willing to Bond someone), in which case this is literally the first time she could even try this plan. Honor is the only reason humans (on Roshar) are still alive, if not for them they would be wiped out after Singers turned on them. So no, Splintering of Honor is not the best outcome for humans, and in-fact restoring Honor would help. Who knows what horrors unchecked Odium would wreak upon Cosmere.
  4. There are Bondsmiths, and they are no longer restricted as they used to be. Unrestricted Bondsmiths are the most dangerous thing in Cosmere. And we already have a scene of Bondsmith repairing a broken temple, which could be foreshadowing. People (and dragons) can do things that are not of benefit to themselves, it is called altruism. And Cultivation is about improving things, growing them. Cultivating Vessels seems right in her ballpark.
  5. Honestly, I think the answer will be stalemate (based on the Emberdark readings). But I'd give slight edge to Roshar. Individually they are stronger, thought at the cost of reliance on more exotic fuel (i.e. Investiture), compared to more self-sufficient Scadrian technology. We know that Connection issue of Radiants will be resolved, and that their technology (fabrials) can run on various kinds of Investiture (fabrials using voidlight). Also, I'd think that Roshar will have an edge in the earlier stages, as they will have easier time moving between systems, since they have much easier access to Cognitive Realm (Oathgates + Radiants + perpendicularities). But eventually Scadrian will have better mobility, as space-ships will be more flexible and possibly faster, which will move the balance on the other side. It is also notable that Scadrians sent ship to First of the Sun, but Trellium bomb would probably not doo much, it is still 'just' a nuke. It might hurt Sibling, but they would regenerate. And Urithirue is gigantic, so you would need something like Tsar bomb to even do proper damage. But it would not hurt it spiritually, so it would not disable the Investiture generation. Also, while theoretically Bondsmith can generate infinite Light, they are limited by 'throughput', i.e. they generate finite amount per second, and it tires them out. Not sure what is 'handwavy' about using pre-established facets of the world? Connection and issues it presents to cognitive entities was established in Secret History, and at the same time we saw there are workarounds, as Ire had Dor there. From the very first Stormlight book we also knew that the answer to these issues exists (Vasher on Roshar), and also that people on Roshar are actively researching it (Gavilar and experiments with moving Voidspren from Braize). Both the problem and its solution have been heavily foreshadowed, so I don't see how it is handwavy at all. Stormlight is one of the prime pillars of Cosmere, one that is more 'magic' heavy than Scadrial. So presence of few supremely powerful individuals should not be surprising.
  6. Nothing in the WoBs you quote supports that Godmetals are not burnable by anyone, they solely talk about Mistborn and Hoid. This WoB is rather clear that there are other Godmetals anyone could burn (and it might be all of them, since Atium should be burnable by anyone as well)
  7. Or more likely Brandon changed his mind, as based on Pattern's description it is 'sort-of' a place, he even literally calls it a place. And since basically all the info on SR is WoB, it would not even be a retcon. If anything, just because of that description I do expect Shallan do actually go there. Hmm...could 'Unite them', have been BAM all along? In that she is calling to him, because she wants to 'unite' deadeyed spren (or singers) with their fragments to restore them? That was by far the best surprise of the chapter Maya deserves the best. That is just Kelek's opinion, and he has not been in contact with Mishram for literally millenia. Sure, it is likely bet, but things change. Perhaps having the vantage point of SR granted her some 'perspective'? Reasonable assumption I think.
  8. They are pretty decentralized, basically only connecting through Kelsier, but he is rather hands-off (if Roshar is evidence of anything). And regarding communication, they uses Seon boxes (Roshar), possibly Tamu Keks (were considered by Brandon as the means of communication) and some trusted couriers would be also an option.
  9. Just because character is sure does not mean they are right. Wax was hundred percent sure Lessie was dead, and he was dead wrong. As such I'd trust Ars Arcanum over the story, since Ars Arcanum has been used to provide us, the readers, with additional information. Or even more accurate information, like in the case of Allomantic table from hardcover HoA which contained the effect of Pure Atium long before most readers realized Atium in Era 1 was alloy. Harmony cannot interfere much if at all, what he let slip is that moving pictures are possible, but absolutely no details about how to make it. Letting Marsh know about how exactly to hack together multiple Invested Arts is rather different sort of information, equivalent information would be letting it slip that Hemalurgic compounding is possible but no other details. And nowhere did such information help them save the world, in fact saving the world was completely independent of knowing how to Compound with Hemalurgy. In fact, Wax was Harmony's chosen agent to save the world (what with being his Sword), so if he was to provide someone with that knowledge Wax makes more sense (especially since he is weak Mistborn and has Hemalurgic spikes). Yup, which makes it more likely that Identity is not the only problem with Hemalurgic compounding. Yeah, but we are talking about Hemalurgic Compounding, i.e. when someone makes themselves (or someone) Compounders on purpose. They absolutely would make themselves OP Compounder, why would they do anything else? Imagine Miles with C-Steel, Wax would be dead. Metalborn while rare are still something like 1:100 if I recall right. So Elendel alone has ~10000 -ish Mistings. And there were multiple Steelrunners in the Terris Village (still probably in single digits), the one Bleeder killed was among the few that left and as such was plausible target. You mean like Set went through the cumbersome process of kidnapping Spooks descedents, and then keeping them in a hidden villlage underground for breeding purposes? Kidnapping two people and spiking them is far easier. Hell, Set are experimenting with Hemalurgy so this is rather close to what they are already doing regularly. Yeah, this thread is talking about future technology. If Hemalurgic compounders became a regular thing, Hemalurgy absolutely is public.
  10. With what tools could he study it? Terris and even Kandra are barely starting to crack spiritual metals, and unlike Marsh, some Kandra are scientifically inclined. Plus Harmony is not sharing information regarding basically anything (and kinda cant), so he would certainly not communicate it. And Harmony is not really sharing info, not with Kandra, or Wax, or Kelsier, and most likely not with Marsh. And even after the interview, she did not include Marshes speculation that Compounding issue was due to Identity Contamination. So he either did not mention it (which would be odd), or it was dismissed. You could spike the donor with 4-5 spikes, then break into them via the Flaw (with assistance of some Nicrosil misting) and control them to store away Identity, before spiking what you want. Kinda cumbersome, but theoretically doable. Yep, it is interesting piece of info. 1-1 Compounders would be still kind of game breaking, F-Steel and F-Gold in one person is quite dangerous combination. But primarily the issue would be societal, not personal. Any society in which such level of power is just two murders away would be quite...different.
  11. Marsh is not necessarily the most knowledgeable on the subject, unless he became scientifically inclined. Marsh is not exactly a scholar, so we should not take him at his word. In fact Ars Arcanum (i.e. Khriss) just says it is no longer possible, and makes no note of possible reason for it. Marsh could speculate it is due to Identity, as he was aware of issues with burning metalminds of others, but that does not mean he is correct. From IRL perspective Compounding is too powerful to be available 'freely', it would distort in-world dynamics too much. Set would be unbeatable, any villain (Trellist in Era 3) would have gigantic advantage (especially if they had access to Trellium to shield from influence). Why would Brandon close this option, only to open it up again? I suspect if it will turn out to be possibly, it will be rather risky and complicated process, and as a result only very few will be capable of it. There is no additional step needed there, if you spike Feruchemist, you can use their metalminds. So Identity is not nearly as much of an issue in Feruchemy as it is within Compounding.
  12. Nothing to apologize to for! It is still feasible, it just has large ore-requisite to remain mindful of. I try Well, Ghostbloods 1 is still 4,5 years away, and Ghostbloods 3 6,5 Hence my estimate Indeed, though maybe Emberdark will provide us with some guidance.
  13. Thank you, you are kind We will eventually know...at minimum in 5-6 years Fair enough, I do agree that there is a degree of purely magical enhancements as well, but we do disagree on its magnitude. Yeah, technically only F-Pewter causes those changes, which is problematic, the rest is just magic. I mean, the WoB (https://wob.coppermind.net/events/270/#e7711) is rather clear that non-power spikes will cause changes ("it would change the body of the recipient greatly"), quote: and that it is distinction between power spikes and non-power spikes ("when that happened, the receiver was twisted much more than if an Allomantically charged spike or a Feruchemically charged spike was used") Sure, Brandon can change his mind, he only included this because he needed origin of Koloss and Kandra, and did not want to introduce another magic system. If in the future attribute spikes are needed to not cause mutations, it will be so. But personally I don't think that will happen, with larger crossovers he has access to numerous other Invested Arts that can achieve similar effects, and so I think this limitation will remain. @UltimateArchivist I agree with this standpoint. Brandon sees Roshar as the magi-tech planet, not Scadrial. Scadrial is Earth-analogue with some magi-tech sprinkled in, but in more technological way. Do note that Hemalurgic compounding is no longer possible as of end of Era 1, only pre-existing Hemalurgist can do it (i.e. Marsh). It might be possible again in future, but it would require Shardic intervention (as apparently it was only possible because of 'Ruin pressing on reality').
  14. My point is that Hemalurgical strength boost is magical, it is done in a way that is similar to what is happening with F-Pewter, you directly add more of the attribute to your spiritweb. Some of the effects seen with Koloss can also be from the fact that they are Hemalurgic construct, not just humans with spikes. Or it is because their souls are more Invested, and as seen in TSM, more Invested soul typically grants physical improvements (greater strength, speed, reflexes). But there seems to be a general principle in Cosmere, where your baseline Physical state is your Spiritual Ideal filtered through Cognitive (but that has less of an effect). We see it in Feruchemy, F-Pewter has effect on your physical form. Similarly, healing works by aligning you to your spiritual self, if you change your spiritweb, you change the physical self (if you have Investiture). Singers change their spiritwebs by bonding spren, and that changes their physical forms rather drastically. Manipulating spiritweb can be used to effectively shapeshift or even grow wings (https://wob.coppermind.net/events/390/#e12722) I don't see why Hemalurgy should be except from this rather general effect, Spiritual change leads to Physical change. Spiritweb demands that Koloss is modified human with 4x the strength, and the body grows to accomodate. Sure, I am just saying that I think you won't be able to control the mutations to the extent you would want, and that there will be tradeoffs. Get more strength, become larger/bit disfigured and possibly dumber (if Koloss are any example). Get more senses, the sense organ in question enlarges/shifts/grows more numerous. You can get attribute upgrades from Hemalurgy, but there will be tradeoffs, it won't be simple direct upgrade without any cost (not including the fact you have to mutilate soul of someone else, unless they figure out programmable spikes). There is a reason we don't see anyone with attribute spikes who is not horribly mutated monster. Not in Era 1, or Era 2, or even the Scadrians in TSM, and I think the reason is that that it cannot be used safely, as per the limitation Sanderson outlined in the WoB I quoted.
  15. I doubt the changes would ever be beneficial (as Brandon philosophy of limitations), but it is plausible they could be limited/minimized. I personally still maintain that the physical changes are because of the attribute, as the physical body changes to accommodate spiritual changes (It is no accident that full grown Koloss are 2x the size of adult human, and hence have ~4x the muscle strength from simple scaling). As such, you would have to find a way to change the attribute into something more along the lines of what A-Pewter does. Not all spikes are simple removable, many must be placed in places that make their removal impossible (see Wax) without killing subject. I'd bet that effects in non-lethal bindpoints will be diminished/different than lethal ones, and for some uses lethal bindpoints will be necessary. It is after all Invested Art of Ruin.
  16. Well, there is that issue that apparently Attribute Hemalurgy causes rather awful physical effects (see Chimeras or Kolloss), which is seemingly innate part of Hemalurgy. Since Set don't use any attribute spikes, this limitation seems to hold still, and even with Autonomy they were unable to circumvent it. So these 'chip' spikes would give you the attribute...and mutate you horribly. Of course it is possible that in future they will figure out a way around it, however I would not bet on it.
  17. As @Isilel said, TLR had millenium, and already had Realmatic knowledge from his time being a Sliver, and was unable to do anything you proposed. And he wanted to create more hemalurgic constructs, so he would have motivation to try and leverage Atium if he could. He did not even discover all the standard allomantic metals, despite their usefulness. So yeah, I think you have knowledge in the moment of burning, and something is left over, but not nearly enough to properly act on it. Edit: Additionally, Pure Atium is specifically called out as granting knowledge of future, not of SR in general. Nor does it say anything about granting comprehension. It only enhances the mind to be able to make sense of what they are seeing, because future is not set, so Pure Atium would show you multiple branches at once (which would certainly require enhanced mind to process, understand and hold). So yeah, I don't think Pure Atium can be used to gain any kind of knowledge like you posit, only very specifically knowledge about future events, and impacts of your (or others) choices on those futures.
  18. Few notes: Lerasium making you into a Mistborn is a side-effect of what it actually does (https://wob.coppermind.net/events/270/#e7708 , https://wob.coppermind.net/events/69/#e6133), so we still don't know what the primary effect is. Honorblades are not 'just' Tanavastium, they are more along the lines of Medallions or Bands of Mourning, mechanical tool for accessing Invested Art. (https://wob.coppermind.net/events/331/#e9408 ) . They are even self-aware (https://wob.coppermind.net/events/508/#e15901 ), which piece of Lerasium/Godmetal in general probably isn't as it could not be simply Burned otherwise (e.g. Shardblades cannot be burned because they are alive https://wob.coppermind.net/events/522/#e16250 , at least not without some workarounds). So, that is 2 out of 3 examples that don't actually do what you say they do, which kinda makes the conclusions rather precarious. Sand Mastery can be obtained by by alloying Lerasium with Trellium/Bavadinium and burning it (https://wob.coppermind.net/events/358/#e10624 ), so it does not make sense for Bavadinium alone to do the same thing, as alloys have different effects from primary metals. At first glance yes, however Ruin is bad at future sight as a Shard, yet his Godmetal grants very good vision of SR and hence future. Any Shard can grant any Invested Art if they so choose, those primary ones are most 'natural' expressions of the interaction between Shard, planet and natural laws (https://wob.coppermind.net/events/368/#e11844 ), so to have Godmetal effects tied to what are effectively 'accidents' seems a bit odd to me.
  19. Yes to both. F-Gold can heal spiritual damage, and so can Stormlight healing, and there is indeed WoB on the matter
  20. True on there being somewhat questionable logic involved regarding physics. I don't think we t see Jerick manipulate forces, at best you could argue the lightning was one instance, but even that Frost describes as 'gathering/flow of sub-axi'. Ryalla's power is definitely early precursor to lightweaving, so it is possible her powers are natural, and not of Dawnshard origin. Still her powers are too different from those of Jerick/Topaz, so I think they might not be able to do what she does to such extent. (Like Topaz would be unable to do what Jerick does with lighting/cutting). But if there's later context that contradicts this then nvm. No that is the line, I just misremembered, thank you! Sound can be conceptualized as 'phonons' (effective particle-like excitation), so that would fall in-scope of this early Lightweaving. Huh, true enough, I did not even consider that. Indeed Though it would make a measure of sense, to hide Dawnshards in places that would be opposite to them, perhaps to hide their Spiritual imprint? Hide Destroy/Destruction in place of life? Hmm good points. I do agree that it most likely personal then.
  21. Yeah, that WoB stumped me too, that is the only reason I put Ryalla aside, because otherwise what is happening to her seems to match Topaz and Jerick rather well. I think there is a distinction, in that all can manipulate all (possibly), they have different strengths + limitations. Topaz can barely manipulate light, Jerick never does, but Ryalla does it extremely easily (up to creating a laser from ambient light!). Ryalla cannot make flowers grows, neither can Jerick, but Topaz does it even passively (flowers in his room growing when he is coming back). And neither of Ryalla or Topaz can seemingly do what Jerick can, i.e. effectively soulcast arrow into fire/smoke, create lighting bolts, cut people in half. And most importantnly, Ryalla does not see Axi, and Topaz and Jerick don't see light. Where does she do that? Her scream? If i recall correctly that was Cognitive phenomenon, not physical one. Good idea. I think that the topaz ring is now no longer Dawnshard, as it passed into Topaz directly (as he has his powers even after the ring was taken from him). I think Jerick got his power from that ancient tree, or perhaps from the castmark he is wearing. There is too much emphasis on that tree and how odd it is, plus his inability to recall how he first found it. The question then is, where did Ryalla get those powers? It must have been rather early in her life, as Frost was watching over her since she was a child (and this was probably the reason).
  22. So, we know that in many ways Dragonsteel is story of people who unknowingly became Dawnshards (https://wob.coppermind.net/events/443/#e14300). I think we can see two or three. Hoid He holds Dawnshard that based on later description, effectively seeks to bring Physical realm representation of the object as close as possible to spiritual Ideal. This then translates to growth and healing powers. His Dawnshard is then something along the lines of Perfect / Heal, or perhaps simply Life. This would explain why his power is such Anathema to the 'Void' god. As a result of holding it for so long, he can no longer harm others, as it would take them further away from their Spiritual Ideal I think. Jerick He seems to hold Dawnshard that is direct opposite to the one Hoid has, one with powers of Destruction. He can use it to effectively soulcast an arrow, or to destroy items with lighting (or cut his father in half). I would suspect that his Dawnshard then is about taking things away from their Spiritual Ideal, hence Destroy/Break/Death, dawnshard. I also think Ryalla might have Dawnshard. Admittadly, her powers are different (she does not see Axi, but Light instead), however her power does seem be quite substantial. If so, this might be the precursor to the one Dawnshard that is different from the rest. What concept it represents I have no idea, perhaps Seem or Connect, dealing not with items but with forces that Connect them together?
  23. Bullet proof vest, or aluminum bullets are going to end them rather fast. Aluminum lined vials so that they can hide the fact they are mistborn from Coinshots/Lurchers.
  24. True, however Iron's increase in strength is far smaller than the increase in weight, Wax never moves when tapping a lot, and indeed is more sluggish when tapping weight. So based on that, F-steel increase in speed of thought would be minor again. Second, strength derived from F-Iron is only with respect to changes to the body, but it would not let Wax e.g. lift heavier items. Which would then imply that F-Steel increase in speed of thought is solely relevant when it comes to processing things directly related to speed. E.g. you process your surrounding fast enough to be able to move, but you cannot think of a plan (because that part is not relevant to movement at all). Per Ars Arcanum, you yourself quoted, speeding up thinking speeds is the main thing F-zinc does. So no, it does not 'speed up toughts somewhat', that is the main thing it does. There might be an overlap, but it will be minor effect on F-Steel side of things, with odd limitations (like with 'strength' in F-Iron). Ars Arcanum literally calls out increased thinking speed in F-Zinc, and does not mention it at all with F-Steel. If that is not evidence that F-Steel does not increase thinking speed too much (if at all), I don't know what is. I mean, yeah it is magic as you say, magic can cover that part pretty well (as in strength increase in F-Iron, which makes no sense from any physical stand point). So trying to extrapolate from 'what should happen physically' is pretty shaky. I am just working from what stated primary effects are, and those are clearly intended to be distinct, F-Zins is mental/thinking speed, F-Steel is physical/moving speed. Some overlap might be there, but any change in thinking in F-Steel will be by necessity minor effect. I mean, humans can move at hundreds of km/h, we just need relatively empty areas do so safely, like when driving a car. So speed alone does not require increase in thinking speed to be survivable or usable. And yes, I think Steelrunner would not be able to write things faster than they can think. So in that situation, while they could physically move fast enough to write out hundreds of ideas, they would be limited by what they can think of to write. They would be able to write, but they would write much slower than they theoretically could. The one idea they would have they would write out fast, but then they would sit there thinking of what next. With both F-Zinc and F-steel, thinking and moving speeds would be matched, and it would allow them to write things out as quickly as they come up with them. Basically, F-steel is external speed, how quickly you interact with your surroundings, F-zinc is internal speed how quickly you interact with yourself (like thinking). If you have only F-zinc, you think fast, but you cannot externally act on it any faster. If you have only F-steel, you can act on external things quickly, but internally there is little to act on (as it is not producing new ideas fast enough). If you have both, you can leverage them to full extent, like Full Feruchemist could (and Marasi possibly did when she 'tapped everything'). Also, Bleeder is Kandra not human, deriving anything about experience of Steelrunner from her is flawed. To summarize, the stated description of what F-Steel does and what F-Zinc does, seem pretty clear to me that F-Steel does not let you think faster (no matter how much we can argue that physically it should). If it does it is minor effect, with unknown and odd limitations (like F-Iron 'strength', that effects literally only the mass of the user, and even that not fully). As a result, Steelrunner cannot perform actions they cannot think of, they cannot formulate new plans any faster, adapt to changing circumstances other then reflexively etc. They would not be able to speed up, and start coming up with plan in increased speed as they are approaching enemy. But they would be able to dodge if the enemy swung at them, or quickly execute plan they thought of before hand.
  25. Thanks for those quotes! Citation please. Nowhere is it stated that F-steel grants you sped-up thoughts. And F-Zinc does give you sped-up thoughts (see both Sazed quote above, and Waxes experience with it). F-Steel is Physical speed, F-Zinc is mental speed. Why on earth would F-Zinc grant only 'a little bit of sped up thought'? And greater intelligence also does not fall under it, again, Wax when tapping it didn't suddenly become far smarter, he just thought through a lot of scenarios quickly. Bleeder also happens to be Kandra, one good enough to be personal servant of TLR. They have rather great control over their biology (possibly up to DNA level), so she might simply have engineered herself to have sped up cognition. @Returned those 'required secondary powers', are typically so that the user actually survives it (up to a point), especially in Feruchemy. E.g. you don't crush yourself. They are not about making the power useful on its own (see F-Aluminum, which alone is basically pointless). F-Steel does not have to grant sped-up thought do be survivable, increased reflexes are sufficient. Edit: In fact per Ars Arcanum, when storing F-Zinc, Feruchemist is slow in thinking, but such effect is not present when storing F-Steel, they only move slower. Hence, it does not make sense that F-Steel would speed up thinking to the same extent as physical speed. Some increase might be present but it would far below the physical speed increase.
