The cyclops swung at him.

Elsie frowned. "You don't look like you are doing okay." She observed. "Why don't you go to the hospital?" She paused as a thought occured to her. "Wait, are you a runaway?"

"Nah, I'm good. Internally screaming, but good."

Elsie looked at Jenny. "Um. Do you need ibuprofen? Or Tylenol? Or Advil?" She asked. "I raided my mee-maw's kitchen before leaving, so I have all three."

She ate one of the crickets, then put the can back into her backpack. "That's probably a good idea."

She nodded slowly. "Something impressive..." She mumbled. "I have a can of dead crickets." She said. "You never know when you need to bribe the local crows."

"Maybe. I dunno. You said I could be claimed? How do I go about making that happen?" She asked, suddenly sounding determined.

Elsie gaped. "You can raise people from the dead?!?!" She let out a gasp. "Do you have a zombie army? That would be so cool." She paused. "Wait. Right. Powers. Um..." She zoned out, eyes squinting. "I... Can see in the dark really well? Does that count? I actually see in the dark better than I do the light. I wear sunglasses in the night time, cuz otherwise it's really overwhelming."

"But... Why haven't I been attacked before? I've been on my own for about a week, and this" she gestured wildly at the cyclops "is the first time anyone or anything has tried murdering me." She seemed genuinely confused. "Also, it would be my mom. I've never met her before. How do I figure out who she is?"

"Um. Nothing? I... I am so confused. What is happening right now?"

"I'm Elsie. It's nice to meet you. It would be nicer if we weren't in a situation with a high chance of death, but this is fine too. Also, I apologize for making you guys have to deal with this. You all probably think I'm a pest because of this. And... Oh. I'm rambling. Sorry. If you want me to shut up just tell me." She said anxiously. She was obviously trying not to panic.

Elsie took her hand, and got up. She listened, before taking a second to process. "Um. Ok. I... I'll just go sit over there." She said, sounding shaken.

Elsie ran past spear guy. She watched as a dagger flew towards the monster. "What? Where'd you guys get these things? How do I get one?" She asked, before slipping on a tree root.

Elsie gaped in awe. "Woah." She whispered, before shaking herself out of it, and running towards the guy with the spear. And, now that she was paying attention, his group.

She spun and saw a kid. "YES!" She said, panicking. She screamed, and barely dodged as the cyclops attacked. "AHHHHHHHHHH!" She pulled out her pocket knife, and tried to stab it's hand. It, being a normal pocket knife, did absolutely nothing.

Elsie felt eyes on her, and froze. "Aw nah, I'm not doing this. I've watched too many horror movies." She muttered. She turned around and saw the monster. She let out a yelp. "THE HECK ARE YOU?!?!"

Elsie was really lost. She mourned the loss of the jeep she'd crashed earlier that day, as she wandered the random forest aimlessly. She was starting to get really frustrated, and so she screamed at the trees. Unfortunately, this made it easier for the monster that had her scent to find her.

Hey people who I haven't interacted with for a year.
My life has finally gotten less stressful (kinda) and I now have the time and sanity to be on here sometimes again.
Yay!

Hey guys. I'm not going to be able to be on the shard for a while.
One of my parents has colon cancer. I just can't juggle this anymore. I'm sorry that I wasn't able to post this sooner. I hope that I will be able to come back onto the shard eventually, but I just don't know...
