  1. No. The Nahel bond is not formed until the words are spoken.
  2. He was not bonded to the Stormfather. It's as simple as that.
  3. Gavilar was bonded to the Stormfather? huh? If that's true then I'm surprised I didn't know that. Also, all 10 Alethi kingdoms were formed by Sadees' 10 sons, so the Kholins are direct descendants, but so are all highprinces.
  4. Hence, "one Dawnshard is different from the others". Sure it's a weak theory, but there has to be something there with the Kholin bloodline.
  5. Yeah it's absolutely insane how much foreshadowing exists in the Cosmere.
  6. Just a little something that popped into my head recently: So we know that one Dawnshard is different from the others. We also know that Gavilar had been seeing visions before Dalinar did, very similarly, until he died. Then the visions started to come to Dalinar. We know that both Gavilar and Dalinar are descendants of Sadees aka Sunmaker. There is one very strong connection between these 3 people. They all were driven with an insatiable desire to unite people (some would call it conquest, but I digress). Also, "I am Unity". Ok, so what I'm trying to get at is there is something special about these Kholins, obviously. But even more so with the head of the Kholin family. Sunmaker, then Gavilar, then Dalinar after his brother's death. Keeping with the theme of ancestral magical abilities in Mistborn, could this Dawnshard (Unity) be the one that is different from the others, being passed on through blood in the Kholin family tree? There certainly is a pattern of "Uniting" among the Kholins. So yeah, pretty crack-poty theory, but among all of the crazy Dawnshard theories, I personally like the Dalinar/Unity one the most, and this could give it slightly more credibility.
  7. Hoid had a DS at one point, and he's been around since the very beginning. Stormlight was indeed the first place where Brandon explicitly named them as Dawnshards, but I have a strong feeling that we're going to be able to go back into previous books and see hints of them as the Cosmere progresses. Seeing as they were used to shatter Adonalsium, I'd assume that they have played a part in other worlds in the past. I think Brandon simply uses SA to introduce a lot of Cosmere-wide ideas and concepts. We have 3 Shards, a bunch of Hoid, the epigraphs of letters between Hoid and Frost/Harmony. Many more opportunities to see characters that actually have knowledge of these things. For example, we didn't learn about the pure tones of Shards until RoW, and now we know that Brandon hinted at them all the way back in Hero of Ages. Seeing as Stormlight is the biggest and most epic series in the Cosmere, it's safe to say that Dawnshards will play a major role in the story, I just have to imagine that we won't see all of them in one place until at least book 9-10. I expect to see more Dawnshard stuff in Mistborn era 3, Elantris sequel, Warbreaker sequel (if we get it) etc.
  8. How? It doesn't make sense for Brandon to place all of them or most of them on one specific planet in one series, seeing as they are immensely important to the entire Cosmere.
  9. Feel free to contact a mod and prove me wrong.
  10. I certainly don't want to spoil anyone, but any threads under the RoW Cosmere discussion allow full Cosmere spoilers, so I'm gonna let people who haven't read everything proceed at their own risk.
  11. Sorry for the minor spoilers, but you can't really debate this topic if you don't have all the information. Actually, never mind. All Cosmere spoilers are allowed in this thread.
  12. That in no way implies that Honor was referring specifically to multiple Dawnshards that currently exist on Roshar. He could have been referring to Dawnshards in general. He could have been saying that any Dawnshards that did exist on Roshar no longer do. We don't even know if Honor was aware of the Change DS that was in Aimia, let alone how long Change has been there in the first place. Also, why would he imply that they wouldn't have access to the Dawnshards if they indeed were located on their world? If anything, the fact that Honor said "without the Dawnshards" leads me to believe that Honor either didn't know of any that were on Roshar at the time, or he knew that there were none located on Roshar at the time.
  13. Yes we do. If you want more info then go read the chapter Brandon gave out from the sequel to Sixth of the Dusk.
  14. Definitely NOT Peace. That is way too similar to Harmony, and we know that Roshar and Scadrial are going to be in a large scale conflict later on down the line. Doesn't it seem much more likely that the Shard associated with Roshar will be in direct conflict with the idea of Harmony?
  15. Is there a WoB?
  16. I think it would be very convenient if Kaladin happened to be a Dawnshard. Especially since one is already on Roshar for sure, and if Nightblood was a DS, that'd make 3. Some people also believe that Dalinar is connect to a DS as well. Dawnshard are even rarer than Shards in the Cosmere. There are tons of worlds and stories in the Cosmere, and I really doubt that all or most of the Dawnshards would be present on Roshar, especially at this point in the timeline. I do think that it's possible that Nightblood is connected to a Dawnshard, but we have no idea. Kaladin is special, but not a Dawnshard.
  17. No, and this is why: Honor's light is called Stormlight. Cultivations light is called Lifelight. Odium's is called Voidlight. So, if the combination of Stormlight and Voidlight is called Warlight, then the Shard of Honor and Odium isn't gonna be called War. Storm, Life, Void, these represent an aspect of the Shard they correspond to. The idea of War will be a major component of the Shard, but not the name. Conquest seems more likely to me. Personally though, I think all 3 Shards will combine by the end of Stormlight.
  18. I have not been assuming Unity is a Dawnshard... I'd bet a lot of money that it isn't.
  19. I'm pretty sure their body gets instantly vaporized by the Investiture.
  20. Has anyone considered one of the Dawnshards could be Connect? Connection plays such a huge role in the Cosmere, and I personally think there is one Dawnshard that applies to each realm, with one of them being "different from the others". Connect could be the Dawnshard specific to the creation of the Spiritual Realm or something like that...
  21. Other than the eye color thing, which Brandon has messed up in the past FYI, none of these points disprove the idea of Chana being Shallans mother. I agree that Shallan didn't start the Desolation, but this actually seems like a plausible idea for who her mom is. Also there's a reply above about a WoB that sort of supports this.
  22. Really cool theory and well thought out. There is one major issue for me. I don't think any Herald breaking is what started this last Desolation. The Everstorm is something new. The gem that Ulim is in was also brought on to Roshar by some other means. I have my own theories about Taln, and I agree that he didn't break. I think that's part of his characterization. But, I don't think Shallan caused the Desolation, because Odium had found a way around the Oathpact by way of the Everstorm.
  23. if Hoid is on Scadrial in Mistborn era 2, then he either severed his bond with Design or figured it out right around the time of book 5.
  24. Brandon didn't really say he was trapped on Roshar, he said "yes, that's a problem". If Hoid really was trapped on Roshar for good, I don't think he would have told us that. Also we saw Radiants in space with living Shardplate and Shardguns, so it doesn't look like spren are going to lock people on Roshar, at least not for very long. I don't expect to see Kelsier on Roshar for a while, so there is plenty of time for them to figure out inter-planetary travel.
  25. Because it would give Kelsier a solid Connection to Roshar that would allow him to travel there.
