Quick Fix 48: Welcome to the Family
Quintessential replied to Elkanah's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I mean, you still wouldn't have been able to. Ghander was protecting me; we made sure that even if there was a tie, only Gears would be lynched. If you'd gotten enough votes to lynch *just* me, it would've made things more difficult for us next turn, but we still would have been at lylo -

Yes, this was great! Certainly fun surviving my first game lol @Ashbringer @GearsI suppose I should apologize to both of you... I was sort of the one who suggested killing you lol Also I love how it was easier for me to pocket you, Gears, *after* you knew I was an elim.- 442 replies

Quick Fix 48: Welcome to the Family

I'm not an elim, and Connected only works once. I have no idea what Reading is, though yes, of course I am an alignment scanner. Not really much more I can say at this point. -

That's certainly possible; I don't know their play-style any more than I know anyone else's, being new and all. Whatever Gears' normal reasons for reaching out to new players, in this case he *was* trying to pocket me. -

Okay, I have something important to say: I am Connected. I've been keeping quiet about it to avoid being targeted, but last turn I used my ability on Gears. I've been kind of suspicious of him since the beginning--I'd been warned about elims trying to pocket new players, and Gears PM'd me offering "strategic advice" almost as soon as D1 started... anyway, I scanned Gears and he is a Diagrammist. I'm still worried about the elims targeting me but at least by speaking up we can hopefully take out an elim as well. So, without further ado, I vote Gears. -

Okay, I'll respond to this post in order; if we lynched two villagers this turn, we would go 7-4, not 8-4, because the elims still get to kill some one. I don't personally have much of an opinion on Alv, or on anyone else, at this point in the game. As you said, I'm a new player, so I don't know anyone's play styles here, and even then my own play-style in other mafia games is generally more on the cautious side. Which is what I'm advocating for here, to be perfectly, crystal clear. I'm not opposed to finding someone else, I just don't think that voting two people out is a wise move at this point, not without further information. And I don't see how you can make an argument for voting me out because I'm *not* targeting Alv, while at the same time saying that you're finding it hard to read him despite having played with him before. Can you really blame me for not jumping on that train? -

Yeahhhh that may not be such a good idea. We've already lynched two villagers, and the elims have killed two more. Assuming there are four elims (which seems the most likely according to the calculations from D1), we have 10 villagers left. If we lynch two people this turn, there's still a good chance that one or both of them will be village; if both of them are, then we would drop from having 10 villagers to 7, and there would still be 4 elims left. They'd only have to kill three more people to win. Under the right circumstances I think a double-lynch could be a good thing, but it certainly deserves a bit more caution and forethought than "I wanna see two people die" -

Wait but Experience was lynched. And was a villager. I mean, I suppose it's possible the other two are elims? But we definitely know XP isn't. Edit: wasn't. oof -

I went back through Ashbringer's posts as well after I saw he'd been killed; the only posts he had of substance were the one where he announced his presence and the one where he explained exactly why the suicide pact wouldn't work. Neither of those seem like reasons to make him a target (since other people had *already* pointed out flaws in the suicide pact), so I would guess that Matrim's Dice is right that the elims were just killing him to avoid giving away information. Unless he had PMs with anyone, and let slip that he knew something? Edit: I phrased that poorly; I meant "let slip what his role was" -

What's that bit about the Abyss looking back from? It sounds familiar.... Edit: I sort of think I might remember that it's from Skyward... is that right? -

But that would require the Elims to cooperate, right? If they pretended to go along until last minute then they might end up winning instead (only one would have to survive, right?) -

Yeah actually come to think of it I wouldn't want Eva (not her real name) on this site with me either... -

Wow your family is... into this. That is such a weird concept for me. My sister thinks all things nerd are dorky as heck. It's sort of frustrating, really. -

For the record, I'm going to be busy for the next couple of days so I'll be on when I can but I may not be able to respond as often as I'd like. Not that I know what I'd say anyway lol I'm a bit new at this...- 442 replies

Oh, yeah, I love the books (I mean, I'm rereading SA right now, so....); but I've loved the books for a long time, and I'm only joining the site now that I know SE exists, so I figure that should count as the main reason lol
-
Yes, I'm very much looking forward to SE; my first game will start sometime on Thursday or Friday (QF48). My favorite magic system is either that of Mistborn or the magic in the Emperor's Soul (I especially think the latter is really neat). No crazy theories so far, though I do love looking for Hoid in all the books, of course. And I don't see anything strange about your profile pic at all, Ghanderflaffle. Perfectly normal for this discussion forum, as far as I can tell.

Okay, so a) I don't really *make* memes, I just enjoy perusing the thread lol. So I have no idea what character I'd immortalize. And b) I think my favorite character is probably Shallan, though Kaladin comes in as a close second (and I'm definitely not partial to Shallan just because she and I both have red hair lol). And of course Hoid/Wit is intriguing as well.

In response to both of you, I think so far my favorite series as a whole is definitely Stormlight Archives, with my favorite being Oathbringer. I also really like one of the stories in Arcanum Unbound--The Emperor's Soul, I think it's called? I found the magic system in that one to be really interesting.
