I also read pretty fast, though I find music to be a bit distracting. I'm pretty sure some of my reading speed comes from the fact that over time, my brain has learned to skip details that aren't neccesary. Now this doesn't really work with things like Wheel of Time, where the details matter more (Or at least, I think they do). Also, not playing it out in real-time. Now, I do imagine the things happening, that's how I read, but also, my mind just kinda processes the information and makes it feel like it's in real time. Like, in a book, a conversation might have taken, in-world, five minutes, but happened in the real world in 30 seconds or so. Now that's not exactly advice, but I've thought about this a lot and I need to get it all out. Basically, if you get in to a book, this'll probably start happening, so... I guess my advice is to read a lot? (I could have just said, 'Practice' and been done, but whatever...)

"Huh. I guess I'm not quite as crazy as I thought." What did I expect? Of course they have a talking sphere of light. Good I wasn't hallucinating though.

"Oh, now don't degrade yourself that way. I'll make fun of you no matter how far away your wit is. In fact, that might make it a good deal easier..." He said with his ever-present grin.

"Well that's certainly not much of a standard. Still, I appreciate the wit," Said Twice.

"Sure, so long as the food's half decent," Said Twice, "Is it?"

"Yep and quite possibly yep."

"Oh, I'm Twice," He said, "Twice the fun, Twice the wit, Twice the steel, etcetera. Even I sometimes forget my real name. Oh, Twice is my fake name. In case you hadn't guessed. You probably had, you seem smart enough." He paused. "I'm fast. Kinda my thing. Fast running, fast talking. Fast's a weird word. How 'bout you? Your name, I mean."

So, once upon a time, I got some dice, set out some rules, and started to play a little game. It went like this: Roll a ten-sided die: If first half (Smaller numbers), Allomancer, if second, (Larger,) Feruchemist. Roll a twenty-sided die. Each number 1-16 corresponds to a metal and power. if one of these, write down either the Magic-metal abreviation, (Ex: A-gold, F-iron). If 20, write down either Allomancer or Feruchemist, depending on the First roll. If 17-19, Twinborn: roll an eight-sided die for allomancy and feruchemy. First half (Smaller numbers), first eight powers, second half (Larger numbers), second eight powers, roll again for specific metal of each. Repeat this process 16 times. After this, comes the part I like to call: Budget cuts: Spikeage edition. Allomancers and Feruchemists can have their powers spiked into someone else, killing them, (And opening that slot,) and giving that power to someone else. I like to mark someone who's been spiked with either a simple spike drawing or an X. Each person can only have three spikes, and each slot can only be spiked four times. In the end, there will be 16 far more powerful Allomancers and Feruchemists. I'm still currently figuring out a part of the game in which these people are used. Perhaps something akin to DnD, but on a larger scale. I'm not sure whether people will draw as much entertainment as I do from this little thing, but I find it to be fun. If there are any questions, feel free to ask them (I mean, the dice-rolling might get a little complicated, but once you get into a rhythm, it's pretty easy.)
