  1. Caden sighed, allowing the Raveness to lead him away for the moment.
  2. The creature's thoughts moved rapidly, considering and disregarding many ideas faster than one could blink. All of a sudden, its mind stopped as if it had come to a conclusion, but none was apparent in its head. Very slowly, the creature spoke. The words that escaped its mouth sounded and felt so foreign to the speaker, that it might as well as be just another series of sounds, pointless in origin and meaning. The voice itself seemed to grind, as if it were being created in part by the screech of metal on metal. "Service? No . . . function as one . . . How?"
  3. The creature held its peace, or whatever it was that clouded its mind. It kneeled, but the action wasn't hated or resented, simply done as an action to further its goal. It did not speak, but a single thought pierced its mind with a painful intensity, it was to kill Narrators. No one commanded it to do so, it was simply a duty that must be done, and the creature would see it through to its end.
  4. The creature continued to struggle at first, but it quickly recognized the futility of what its actions. Its strikes against Star slowed consistently as she gained a more powerful grip on the creatures mind. It still remained elusive, specific thoughts and plans appearing and disappearing faster than should be possible as it quickly tried to think of a way out of the current bind. A single thought became clear in its mind for a brief moment, despite its impenetrable facial expression. It was willing to listen to whatever Star had to say to it.
  5. Caden looked towards Ivian to make sure that was his will. His expression was indistinguishable from that of a toddler, looking to their parent for an excuse not to go, but was willing to go anyways.
  6. Caden sheathed his blade, watching the Raveness with a precise and careful eye. He felt doubt about Ivian's decision to keep such a woman alive creeping up on him, but he quickly shoved such treasonous thoughts aside.
  7. Caden gritted his teeth, glancing towards the King. "All the more reason I should end it now!"
  8. Caden growled, moving his blade closer to her throat. "Give me a reason, witch. I beg you."
  9. With a single look at the King to confirm that he was serious. Caden leapt from his chair and reached for Riva's shoulder with one hand, drawing the blade that was at his side to hold it towards the Raveness threateningly.
  10. Caden glared at Riva, grumbling under his breath. "I would graciously accept that honor, if you will it, my liege."
  11. Caden scoffed, rolling his eyes at what obviously was an exaggeration.
  12. Caden started coughing, as he had taken in a breath at the revelation while he was sipping his drinking. After firmly pounding his chest and clearing his throat, he tried to act as if nothing had happened and he continued to ignore the Ravenness; or try to ignore her, anyways.
  13. Olivier arrived at the assembly doors just as they were closing. He tried to dash up towards them to squeeze inside, but he was winded before he even got halfway there. He stopped ten feet away from the door, panting from the sprint and spitting out the extra saliva that was in his mouth. He silently cursed himself for having one of his fits right before the assembly. He knew how important it was for him to get inside to watch what was going on, but he instead sighed, walking off to get some of his other work done since he couldn't enter the building. He would have to chat with Theen about what was going on in there, he just needed to know. @JesterLavorre @The Unknown Order @Mystic Syn @Enter a username
  14. Outwardly, it almost seemed that the creature didn't notice save for its aim being thrown off from Star. The blade made a direct impact on the wall off to Star's side, but is was withdrawn faster than it had landed. The brick wall that it had cut through decayed at the touch of the blade, forming a crater in the wall that grew slowly. Star's chains were formidable, but the creature didn't seem to care. It's mind was impossibly focused on one thing, killing the Narrator that stood before it. Its mind seemed to shift and slide, all of its willpower focused into a single thought, empowering a single action that managed to force its way past the chains. It gained just enough leeway in a moment to lash out at Star, trying to physically pin Star before trying to strike at her core again. When the creature escaped Star's chains enough to strike, it considered what little it knew of Star's character and compared it to her claim. Even though the line of thought had come quickly, it was dismissed with barely any hesitation as the creature didn't bother to stop itself from trying to land the killing blow.
  15. The creature barely acknowledged the intrusion, its thoughts focused on killing Star. The blades whizzed through the air, aiming with razor precision for Star's core. It moved with a sense of urgency, working to overcome Star before she could do anything more to stop it.
  16. When the Narrator's foot made contact, the woman didn't give in. Her chest chest felt harder than steel, and her footing was immovable. Her face barely displayed any reaction, with no anger or pain, only focus. The woman's blade wanted to consume and destroy whatever it came into contact with, but it was withdrawn just as quickly as it had been lodged into its target. Then just as the blade had been pulled away, another one came from her right hand, striking towards the Narrator's core faster than the blink of an eye.
  17. Caden stood up, his chair being thrown back by the abruptness of the action. He didn't speak an excuse, his mind far too hot with anger to even bother. He turned to walk away from the table, and his wife.
  18. The moment that the Narrator had knelt next to the child, time started to run out. In a flash quicker than any mortal's eye could follow, the young woman lunged towards Star with a speed that was easily beyond any human. Her left arm was raised up, and a dark blade was produced from it, aiming for the Narrator's heart.
  19. Caden's better judgement seemed to disappear as a deep and powerful growl escaped his chest, the fork he had pick up in his right hand bent like wax in his grip. But he didn't speak, his mouth clenched too hard for any words to escape from.
  20. The woman shook her head, "I don't know what happened, but he has a broken arm; I can see the bone." She slowed and pointed to the side of the alley, allowing Star to go first. "He's just over there, behind the dumpster. Hurry!"
  21. "Down the alley, this way!" The woman shouted as she turned back down the alley that she had come from, barely checking to see if Star was following.
  22. Caden's stomach sank, and so did his confidence. Just looking into the Ravenness's eyes for a brief moment made him feel uneasy, but the way they she said that made all of his perceived power flee. Caden shuddered, deciding to shut his mouth while turning back to face his food. He tried to regain the confidence that had just been there, but to no avail.
  23. A voice cried out for help. Not long after the cry, a young woman came stumbling out of an alleyway. She was dressed as a common citizen, but her clothes had a layer of grime covering them. She cried out again, her words becoming clearer as she approached. "Please, you have to help! My boy, he needs help! Anyone, please!" Her voice was loud, but the pleading tone was powerful, sounding as if she could only focus on getting the help that was so desperately needed.
  24. "What does it matter, mind or body? For every one man you 'break,' I slaughter dozens, if not hundreds of traitors to the crown!" Caden scoffed, his confidence starting to become overpowering. "And your mythical age doesn't bother me, woman. All things must die."
  25. Caden opened his mouth offer a quick retort, but it hung open as he tried to think quickly of a response. He cleared his throat once again, "I have stained countless fields red with blood, and black with ash! None dare challenge the king, lest they bring down the wrath of my armies upon them! I crush anyone who stands against my king, woman." Even if that includes you. Caden dared not to finish that thought out loud, but he feared that he couldn't hide it from his expression.
