  1. "We're nothing alike," Caden opened his mouth to speak the differences, but he closed it as he actually considered it. "I have my armies, tens of thousands of soldiers strong to command!" His chest rose, filling with confidence. "They are the greatest army that this land has ever seen!"
  2. Caden cleared his throat, "I don't know. I wasn't," Caden lifted a hand to adjust his collar as he cleared his throat once more, trying to hide how annoyed he was. "I wasn't expecting to get married at this moment." He glowered as he regarded the food before him, not finding it as appetizing as it had been when he thought it would keep the Raveness away.
  3. Caden tried to ignore the Raveness, but her presence seemed to be designed to grab someone's attention, or at least his. He growled in annoyance, pulling out a knife to cut up his food with, hoping that the Raveness wouldn't try to make conversation if he kept himself busy.
  4. Caden grumbled under his breath again, looking for something to eat amongst the table of food before settling on some sort of grilled meat. As he grabbed his food, he tried to use it as an excuse to subtly move farther from the Raveness.
  5. Caden reflexively growled, but he tried to disguise it as an attempt to clear his throat. He tried to bat away her hand, "precisely."
  6. Caden looked around, trying to see if it were possible for him to sit anywhere other than the spot next to the Raveness. Sighing in defeat, he sat himself at the table, slouching in the chair.
  7. Caden groan in annoyance, trying to resist the Raveness's pull until she dug her nails into his palm. He wanted to yank his hand out of hers, but after a quick glance at the king, he decided to follow the Raven- no, his wife. He shuddered that that thought.
  8. Caden moved out of Riva's reach after her elbow dug into his side, grumbling to himself. "It does to me."
  9. "My lord," Caden glanced towards Riva, "I don't think that's necessary."
  10. Caden tried his best to ignore the Raveness, feeling his hands clenching into fists when he heard her voice. He knew he shouldn't provoke her, and he did his absolute best to avoid doing just that. He bowed towards the king, "is that all, my lord?"
  11. Caden cleared his throat, turning towards the king. "My lord, I can't possibly move away from my estate right now."
  12. Caden glanced towards the door, trying and failing to be discreet about it.
  13. Caden, still not meeting the Raveness's eyes, grumbled under his breath. "For once, I agree with you." He shuddered slightly, not liking how saying that out loud felt.
  14. Caden tried his best to not meet the Raveness's eyes, but she was quite good at making him uncomfortable despite his best efforts. He cleared his throat, marching towards the Raveness and the altar. He forced himself to take deep breaths, as he felt a pressure building in his chest with every step he took that he couldn't explain. Something about this felt terribly wrong to Caden, but he shoved away those feelings at the thought of being in the king's presence, doing his will. When Caden arrived at the altar, he stood as far away from the Raveness that he could get away with while still being at the altar.
  15. Caden rushed from the training ground, the sudden memory taking him out of his thoughtless wandering. He didn't bother changing out of his current uniform, barely even trying to dust off some of the dirt that had gathered on his trousers. As he approached the room that the king has designated, he took a brief moment to gather himself, taking slow and deliberate breaths, before opening the door, his two guards at his side as they always were.
  16. Caden turned to leave, flaring his cape while he spun around to stomp out of the door, his two personal guards at his side once more.
  17. Caden scoffed, regarding the man with a small degree of distrust. "Not with you, priest."
  18. He stopped suddenly, taking the statement very seriously. But Caden considered it for only a moment, "No. My king has willed it, so I must go through with it." He nodded, sounding sure of himself, "the king always has a plan, and he never does anything without reason. So there must be a reason."
  19. Caden glared at the insufferable priest dead in the eyes, "she's is the most horrible witch in the entire kin- No, the entire world! She tortures and maims for fun, she can torture anyone if the king says so much as a single word, and I'm going to be married to her."
  20. Caden growled softly in annoyance, "obviously. Why would I purposely try to marry that witch?"
  21. "If you wish to question the king," Caden walked slowly towards the desk, "then take it up with him personally."
