The Ward's Guard

Bandar watched as his new companions settled down to sleep, he grabbed some orange crystal to keep on hand as he went on guard. As he stood on guard, he took the time to organize his equipment from his bags, taking catalogue to make sure the he did not forget anything. As soon as he was satisfied, he whipped out a small notebook, and then he jotted down a few notes before putting it away. The night might be long, but Bandar was eager to see what the morning held in store; maybe Lady Luck was smiling on him for once.

"What wonderful motivation. Don't worry, if I fail, we'll all probably be dead anyways." @Channelknight Fadran @Condensation @Experience @MusicalReader and whoever else.

"Ah yes, the age-old question; will I do the job that you're paying me to do?"

"I can live with both, especially since I'll be using my hardware."

"Good thing I was there, wouldn't want her settling for some two-bit wannabe. You got yourselves a good ol' one-bit wannabe-because-I-am." Bandar paused before stroking his wispy facial hair. "I guess that didn't make as much sense as I thought it would."

"A fair bit I'd say; my homeland is quite far, and I didn't take the straightest route."

"Like my dear sister used to say, if you don't make any enemies, you've never done anything with your life. Of course, she was a bit batty, but it makes sense to me. You lot seem to have taken this advice to heart as well."

Bandar smiled. "It seems that I found the most interesting job purely by accident. I don't think that I've ever been this lucky in my life! Not that there's much competition, you won't believe how much I've lost at games of chance. I officially take back all of my curses to Lady Luck."

"You mean to tell me that I just happened upon a person in a tavern with a long list of enemies devoted to ending her life, and I just signed up to protect her?"

"I'm glad you asked. Mainly I've dealt with tough idiots who try to beat up me or the guys who hire me. I love the jobs where just being there makes it so that the problems solved, but I doubt this is the case. If you want the specifics, then you're out of luck; I'm no good at keeping records."

"I tend to drift a little, not sticking in a place when I'm no longer wanted. My last job was for some purpled eyed guy, he needed some extra muscle in his town; I decided to split as soon as my contact was done, not a good job if ya catch my drift. Now you crystal merchant folk, you attract a lot of the wrong kind of attention; the kind that you hire me to deal with. I can see myself sticking with you guys for a while."

Bandar moved to take a seat next to Jack, he then adopted a lounging posture. "I walked up to her, and we started talking. That's it if you disregard the 20 or so sets of eyes and ears that really wanted to watch us. Can't figure out if it was me or her that they were interested in."

Bandar made his way over towards Jack. "So you're the financial guy, right?"

"Who me? I'm flattered, honestly, I am. I know what's going on with the important hot-shots, but I'm not one of them."

"I've never liked the rain, can't imagine why anyone would. But I guess that it's not my choice where we set up the base of operations."

"Rain is coming, within a few hours. I wouldn't worry too much about it, you're not supposed to be leaving anywhere."

"Blue."

Pior gave Aerith a wink. "I don't know about that, but I guess I gotta take your word for it."

"That you remember, you could have your special someone wondering around already."

"Now I'm sad that I missed seeing you having such a great time. How many times did you get married while you had the liquor in ya?"

"And yet, I'll probably say it tomorrow. At least I had a real good time last night, not that you would know what that's like." Pior gave Aerith a cheeky smile, evidently feeling better.
