  1. @Tani @The Unknown Aon (@Anyone else who wants to be an anti-epic) Cibor stood atop Victory Column overlooking the modest Berlin skyline. It was a nice city, Berlin, one of the better-off ones on the continent. It wasn't ruined, abandoned, or even majorly damaged by Calamity's spawn after she appeared and "blessed" the epics. Hell, it had electricity, running water- commodities half of Europe didn't have these days. It was relaxing, almost. Looking from atop this monument, he could almost pretend that Calamity never happened. As long as he ignored the lightly glowing TV tower in his peripheral, and pushed away memories of many other cities he had seen from a similar point of view, it was beautiful. But those forsaken cities... some felt like miniature hells made just for their residents. Rotterdam, flooded. Helsinki, under a never-ending snowstorm. Saint Petersburg and it's horrible Lakhta Tower. He had been to so many places... In comparison, Berlin seemed peaceful. It was genuinely comforting, seeing it so pristine. He had visited Berlin once before, as a child before Calamity. His father had been on a business trip and had decided to bring Cibor and his mother with. What carefree days those were, walking down the roads, eating street food and gawking at the Brandenburg Gate... Cibor wasn't one for nostalgia, but sometimes a little was needed in these times of trial, to remind us what we're fighting for. Still, however, there was work to do. Cibor turned away from the railing and began to walk back down the stairs to the base of the structure, descending down it's 285 steps to his partner at the bottom, Rosalin. The EAEC officially had sent them and a few other agents to scout the city, gather intelligence, and prepare for larger operations there. They were specifically told to stay somewhat low, pick off easy targets. Cibor, however, had other plans, for Berlin was a sickly city. "Apologies, Rosalin. Just wanted to take in the view for a moment. Now, come on- we need to get some know-how on the city. We know the basics, but I want the specifics, yeah?" He continued past her and began to walk out into the street. He considered contacting the other members of his team that were already out and about, but decided against it. He wanted to minimize the use of cell phones, as you see Berlin had one of the densest Epic populations of any city he had ever been too, and you never really knew what twisted powers those monsters had. Any one of the city's epics could have some sort of signal-tracking ability, and if they tapped into the wrong call- well, that would be the end for him and his team In fact, This large Epic population was the primary reason the EAEC hadn't started operations here before. To them, Berlin was a wall that they had just decided to try and breach. To Cibor, however, Berlin was a city infected, teeming with the filthy and the malicious. Thankfully for the innocent, powerless Berliners, Cibor saw himself as a doctor, here to treat this blighted place. And his cure, for this virulent disease? Cold, hard lead.
  2. Cool. I'll probably wait to post until you two have your characters.
  3. I have a secret to tell you- but be forewarned, the information contained in this document might change your life forever. In the world there are these strange entities known only as CSPs See, they may seem like ordinary cats at first glance, but do not be fooled. No one knows how they came to be, or how they exist at all- Some say they were once ordinary cats warped into strange forms. Some say they're extradimensional creatures trying and failing to disguise themselves as our feline friends. The uninformed may say that is simply how cats are. No one knows the truth of their nature. But the organization I belong to, the CSP Organization, seeks to find these CSPs and capture them, making sure their mysterious goals never harm humanity. (CSP, of course, stands for Control, Shield, and Preserve) Here I shall record some of these CSPs, describe how they look, how they act, and how one can keep them at bay. CSP001 Description: CSP001 is a bipedal, black-furred entity with four tentacle-like appendages, with two used as legs and two used as arms. Other than these limbs and two yellow eyes it is practically featureless, with no nose, ears, neck, or even mouth. It is unknown how it manages to survive without nourishment, or how it seemingly retains the senses associated with missing body parts. Controlled Security Protocols: CSP001 can get highly hostile if it is deprived of entertainment for even short periods of time. It is highly advised to always keep at least (3) methods of entertainment inside it's enclosure at all times, including but not limited to: A scratching post, a laser pointer, a worm-on-a-string, a cat wheel, and danglers, with the appropriate staff to handle these. CSP002 Description: CSP002's main feature is it's abnormally long front legs and complete lack of back ones, making it's movements a dragging motion. Other than that however, CSP002 is practically identical to a normal feline, with a ordinary head and tail. It seems to enjoy laying near edges with it's front legs hanging over the edge, as pictured in it's official image. Controlled Security Protocols: CSP002 requires few special controlment protocols- however, due to it's long legs, any harmful or otherwise fragile objects should stay at least 5 feet above CSP002's enclosure's floor. CSP003 Description: To an untrained observer, CSP003 might appear to be an amalgamation of multiple different black cats. It has eight tails and seven eyes laid out horizontally, almost like an octopus that it uses to scuttle across the floor. Strangely however it still only has one mouth, nose and pair of ears, as it appears to have a primary face. X-rays have proved inconclusive however as it does not have any organs, instead being a single solid mass. Controlled Security Protocols: CSP003's enclosure is to be regularly inspected for even small holes, as similarly to octopuses, CSP004 can slip through even small cracks. CSP004 Description: CSP004 is identical to an average housecat save for the fact that it's two front paws have been replaced with human hands, with human skin, fingernails, and opposable thumbs, of which it has full control of. The fur around it's human wrists curls into itself, creating the illusion of sleeves. It habitually grabs anything put in it's hands, similar to human newborns. Controlled Security Protocols: CSP004's enclosure is to have autodoors, as using it's hands CSP004 can quite easily open and even unlock simple doorknobs. CSP005 Description: CSP005 is another white-furred bipedal specimen. However, unlike CSP001, CSP005 retains it's nose, mouth, whiskers, paws, tail. It does lack ears and arms, however, and also unlike CSP001, it is totally deaf due to this. It is also quite fast, it's two legs being surprisingly powerful. Controlled Security Protocols: Each entrance is to have two doors using an airlock system, as CSP005's high speed makes it difficult to enter it's enclosure safely without it bolting for the exit. CSP006 Description: CSP006 lacks limbs of almost any kind and is abnormally long, with one end having a normal cat's head and the other splitting into two, creating a Y structure. It slithers along the ground like a serpent, and has even been observed to slide sideways similarly to a Sidewinder snake. The nature of it's fur should prevent this behavior, however it seems as if it's regular grooming adds extra grip to the bottom half of it's body. Controlled Security Protocols: A standard enclosure will do for CSP006, as it has no special abilities that would aid in an escape. CSP007 Description: Another black CSP, CSP007 has a normal feline head but almost completely lacks a body, mostly consisting as a hub for it's three tentacle-like appendages it uses to walk. To be honest it's kind of boring. Honestly I'm not even bother with Controlled Security Protocols on this one. CSP008 Description: CSP008 is egg shaped with nothing but two green eyes and two limbs to walk around. Similarly to CSP001, it is unknown how it eats, if it does so at all. Overall, CSP008 is rather mysterious and secretive, usually keeping quiet and lurking in the dark corners of the enclosure where it is kept. Controlled Security Features: Lighting in CSP008's enclosure is to be kept dim, as too bright lights make CSP008 more aggressive. CSP009 Description: Everyone already knows cats are liquid. However CSP009 takes this to the next level, having an almost glue-like viscosity. Be forewarned before dipping your hand in it- it's body is highly acidic, as this is how it digests food. That leaves it's mouth free for communication, which it often does in the form of high-pitched meows. Controlled Security Procedures: CSP008 is to have a 75-gallon fish tank as a enclosure instead of the standard room. It shall be cleaned every month, with CSP009 lured into and kept in a glass cup during the process, as pictured in it's image. CSP010 Description: CSP010 is a normal feline save for it's incredibly large front right leg. This arm is highly muscular and incredibly strong, being able to punch through wood, concrete, and even steel if CSP010 is motivated to. However this extra large arm does make movement difficult for it at times- interestingly, to alleviate these struggles, it completely forgoes using it's front left arm, instead running on the forearm of it's strong leg. Controlled Security Protocols: Keeping CSP010 regularly fed and entertained is of upmost importance, as CSP010 when bored tends to punch holes in the walls and escape. Trust me, we've tried to reinforce them. It doesn't help. Why am I telling you all this? I need your help. There seems to be an ever-increasing number of these CSPs, so If you spot any more possible CSPs out and around, we need you to report them using the same format as our catalogue. Importantly, an image is required as proof of it's existence. We don't take any phonies here, alright?
  4. Yeah, Berlin works. Oh, and another question: Would anyone like to be on an anti-Epic team with my character? I'm fine being solo but it would make more sense to have some teammates. @The Unknown Aon oh and about your comment on my sheet, go ahead.
  5. @Tani A specific city would be nice. Maybe somewhere in germany? Also I'm adding a bunch of lore into my character sheet so just look over it see if you like it

  7. I don't think Antarctica would work very well. I mean... why would you want to rule over frozen wasteland? I feel like there would be one or two Epics whose powers don't mix well with humanity for some reason or another and that would be about it.
  8. I swear, for every tense issue I fix 4 more crop up I've also changed the permissions of the original link so you can critique there. I would like it if you continued, thanks
  9. Wrote the first part of a story. Find it here:

  10. Hello! This is the first part of a serial story I'm writing. I'm hoping to get parts out monthly, but do not rely on this. I was originally hoping to get this first part out on New Year's Day, but editing took longer than I hoped. Word count for this first part is ~8300 for anyone interested Contractual Woes Part 1 Enjoy! Criticism is highly appreciated.

  12. Spade does not flinch at the blade. "I am inclined to agree. The Narrators of the hall are idiotic and shallow minded buffoons, which is why I left many years ago. Now, could you please lower the weapon?"
  13. A little of the previous disgust creeped back into Spade. Just a mere character created the beautiful misery he saw in this woman's eyes? He found it somewhat pathetic. Still, he could not deny the hurt that this Maverick's death caused. "If I may," says Spade, "I am sorry for your loss. I can relate to losing something you love."
  14. Spade was silent, but that was concealing a deeper, all consuming emotion: Spade was astonished. You could say he was confused, or baffled, or any other synonym, but in the most simplest of terms, he was astonished. He didn't show it, of course- it would quite ruin his stoic reputation- but he could not believe his own two eyes. For many, many years, Spade had gleefully ruled over his little kingdom away from the eyes of the Narrators. In that time he had become quite adept at reading not only a character's current emotions, but also their overall emotional state. It was practically a requirement to properly revel in their misery, of course. The trick was to look into their eyes, of course- a window to the soul and all that. He had tried it on the Narrators back at th hall but had gained no results. He had figured it was just an inherent property of Narrators, being so far above characters. But this Narrator... Star, was her name...? As he stared into her eyes, he saw a pain he had caused many times before. The pain of losing the one you love the most. Lovers torn apart, children taken from parents, magnum opuses burned in front of their artists... That pained flared bright in this Narrator's eyes. But it was impossible! What sort of self respecting narrator would get attached as so? Emotions churned within Spade. He realized that the flat, plain eyes he had seen from other Narrators hadn't been a failure of his own, or a inherent property of their greater power- it had just been apathy. Such plain, uniform apathy that Spade had mistaken it for something else. He stood, frozen like this for a couple moments before the astonishment faded away into disgust. What sort of weak, pathetic narrator would stain their own reputation and attach themselves to something like that, then have the AUDACITY to somehow lose it- His train of thought halted. He would. Him and his kingdom of misery, out on the edge of the world. He internally smiles. A kindred spirit, then. His disgust vanished, replaced by a strange sense of admiration spawned by his self awareness. Finally, that respect mixed with a strong sense of beauty. That pain- oh, it was wonderful! Compared to the woe of characters, of those fake little pawns down below, it was just so... real. If only he could've seen the event that had caused it. He was sure it would've easily topped anything he had created back in his kingdom. It nearly brought a tear to his eye, just thinking about it. Alas, he couldn't go back in time and watch. What he could do, however, was figure out what it was. That might be a close second.
  15. @xinoehp512
  16. "Oh, fine. This feels like finding a needle in a haystack by randomly grabbing tufts of hay, however." He walks up to the closest Narrator to them and asks, once again, if they recognize any of the names on the list.
  17. Spade blinks confusedly. Something felt off to him, but... Ah, who cares. Spade turns back to the mime accompanying him. "I don't think this is going to lead anywhere, girl. Do we have any other leads on this person?"
  18. @Szeth_Pancakes Oh this is cool. Have you heard of the IPA? It's the internationally recognized and standardized chart of all sounds languages make, sorted by where and how in the mouth it's pronounced. Using it would really help clarify how stuff is said. For example, this line: O = space (ah) - really, kind of a blend between “ah” and “uh” Would be easily clarified down to O = /ɤ/, which is a vowel sound between /ɑ/ and /ʊ/ which roughly correspond to "ah" and "uh" It obviously wouldn't help with nonhuman sounds, but still.
  19. Just came out of the theater. And I can't wait for the inevitable crossover with Spiderverse- I hope they pull a Roger Rabbit and mix live action and animation, that would be SO fun
  20. For the past year or two I've kind of been in a reading rut. I've struggled to find anything I wanted to read and to get the motivation to read it.
That's why, right now, the first suggestion in the replies I will be OBLIGATED to read, given I haven't read it before.
