  1. Not everyone will have a role or an action. Any Honorblade or Unique Role (except the Truthless) gives actions, and the Honorblades can be passed around to different players as an action, granting their set of actions to another player.
  2. It's in the GM PM. So when the game starts on Friday, I'll send a PM to everyone telling them what their role and alignment (ie Village as the Shin or Elims as Szeth's Cohort). If you have actions to submit, just respond to the PM saying which action you want to use and on whom. Just make sure you do it before rollover (and preferably a while before rollover...).
  3. So the plan was almost ready. Cassie bustled about the shop, tidying up. Poller had been gone for a while longer than she'd thought. He'd probably gotten sidetracked again. His... condition had a habit of having that happen. She checked the cart she'd made. It was a bit sturdier than the previous one, and had better wheels - it was meant to be Pulled with iron, not muscle. And it was loaded with the caesium bombs that the Anarchist had taken a liking to, along with some daggers and some... special surprises if she needed to get involved herself. It's been too long, a part of her thought. No aid from the Ghostbloods, no word from the Anarchist... what if it all falls apart? Simple. Move on. It's worked before. Cassandra tried to relax. There wasn't much more to add to her list of metalborn, just a Coinshot or two. So she moved to the forge, covering the cart, and got to work forging some aluminum into an axe. She liked forging metal the old-fashioned way. @kenod
  4. "Sort of? A memory of a memory. It's not mem-" More private. Got it. "Uhhhh... well, we're at a - no, that's not really - aaagh. We could go to Cassie's shop. She has a few rooms upstairs that no one ever uses. Plus I can get the aluminum you wanted... right? Or was that a - oh nevermind. That's really the only place I know, I... don't really have anywhere else." He got quiet. "The War, y'know. That part I know is real." @Ookla the Uscritic
  5. Inactivity is alright, so long as you can post enough to avoid the filter. (And please get actions in if possible.) Actually, I can probably make an exception to the filter if it's a pre-arranged inactivity... hmm. I'll think about it.
  6. Okay, so you're still not good at acting stoic all the time. "... sort of. It's..." Poller searched for the right words. "It's not... I don't really know if it's the Dark Alley. But there's a memory I shouldn't have. Of the Seven Days War. I was a noncombatant... rusts, I wasn't even that, I was a refugee. But I can remember fighting... and trying to fight a... a..." Horror. "Something you see in fairy tales. Something you see the noble Misting knight defeat in honorable combat, but when you look at it you know it knows no such thing as Honor and that even a Mistborn alone stands about as much as a butterfly does in an Everstorm and-" He stopped, tapping bronze. Something about that memory - he still couldn't even see the thing, just feel it's... malevolence. It was almost like his body was trying to knock itself out rather than look at it. "If that's what the Dark Alley is, then... that's what I know." @Ookla the Uscritic
  7. So I am the First among Ooklas... alphabetically at least. Edit: I shouldn’t have quoted the entire thing, should I have...
  8. Welcome! Yes, just ask anyone (either in-thread or in the GM PM with me once the game starts) if you have any questions. Also, I'm trying out this Ookla thing now. So Ashbringer has become Ookla Fell From The Sky for the duration of Ookla Season and likely the game. (There's an explanation of Ookla Season... somewhere.)
  9. Yeah. Just don't repeatedly spam the game threads with RP (especially unrelated-to-the-game-setting-RP). I'm also going to make a 2-cycle inactivity filter. You must post at least once every two cycles. If you fail to do so, you will be replaced with a pinch hitter. If we run out of pinch hitters... uh... @Elandera? I'm not sure what the protocol of that is. Or if that's overly harsh. Or anything, really. Help.
  10. The Dark Alley. "Aren't those just fairy tales? Stories of things crawling through the dark and manipulating blood? I thought those were just stories, meant to explain away the chaos that the Alleyverse is, and what people saw in-" The Seven Day's War. Poller's blood ran cold. He'd been told those stories. Multiple times, occasionally from veterans who had come to share their story so people would know what had happened. The Crusade. Solace. And most importantly, the monsters that had terrorized both sides. Only... he realized that there was one image in his mind that was... an image. Something he couldn't really see. But... he'd seen it. He was sure of it. And even the memory of seeing chilled him to the bone. He tapped instinctively, but felt... something different than he was expecting. Wait, no, that was what he was - what? "Maybe not," he said in a small voice. He latched onto something else that the lady said. "Well, we do have aluminum in stock. We have a lot of powder, and weapons, just not in bulk. And if you really need it now, Cassie can just make more." He paused. "I might be able to forge it myself. I'm a e- a salesman by trade, but I've gotten pretty good at metalworking." Yes, think of metalworking. Not of Lightweaving or wars. Or of monsters that ravaged the mind. He tapped and shivered.
  11. The woman... changed. "Please say nothing about the lightweaving," she said quickly. "I'm fleeing an attack and don't wish to be recognized." A Lightweaving? That was a Surge, right? Fairly common in the Alleycity, but it was rarer than most. Surges were more combat focused than his Feruchemy, but Light was an exception to that. Poller. She said not to talk about it. So stop thinking about it. Metal shop. He could talk about that. "Yes! I work in the metal shop. A metal shop. Er... Cassandra Adama's Metallurgic Emporium. Although she tells everyone to call her Cassie." He scratched his ear. He wasn't great at... improvising, if that's what this was. He didn't know if it was the right term. "We sell aluminum, although recently someone bought most of our stock of sheets in it. Ms. Adama's got a Soulcaster, so it's not that hard to get. If you need some now I can probably get some... but she's not big on borrowing, exactly." @Rushu42
  12. Er... try and avoid double posting if you can. From the Coppermind (er, Wayback Machine Coppermind to avoid RoW spoilers):
  13. ... oh dear. 1: PAFO. 2: Nope. I considered it, but the only Radiants are Kaladin and Szeth. Edit: Well, there are secrets... but those are faction-specific, anyway 3: I believe that Honorblades need Stormlight? I think the Heralds were fueled by Honor directly, but when Szeth used his Honorblade he needed Stormlight. Regardless, yes Honorblade Surges consume Stormlight charges in the game. 4: The Truthless can be killed at night, however this does not count as a win. Also, it has come to my attention that a certain Ookla Season is coming soon... well, I'm not old enough here to fully understand the tradition, but I'd like to echo some of the statements that Matrim's Ookla's Dice made in the MR: I would greatly appreciate it if you kept your Profile Picture the same if you change your name. Keep your main name somewhere in your title/signature/as a part of the Ookla name. I think I can handle voting using the Ookla names, but on the condition you use the full name. If you vote for Ookla, your vote will be automatically Adhesioned into nothingness. It would be very helpful to put the traditional name in parentheses also in red (or green) next to the Ookla name in voting. When creating PMs, please ensure you have the traditional name(s) in the titles, in addition to the Ookla names if you so choose. Elandera reserves the right to overrule any of these for the good of the game I'll make a clarifications section.
  14. Szeth-son-son-Vallano, Truthless of Shinovar, was dead. Every passing day, Szeth realized that his Truthless-ness had been dead for a long time. He'd died at the Battle of Narak, and been reborn as... something. Something not quite right. But a second chance was more than many got. Particularly more than a stonewalker like him. But that was one of the many lies he'd discovered that the Shin told him anyway. So Szeth, Skybreaker, nodded to the men around him. Dalinar's chosen. The Alethi had been hesitant to allow Szeth away from him so soon after the events of Thaylen Field, but once he'd told him about the treasure the Shin had been guarding for so many years - the very treasure that Szeth had used a part of to kill the man's own brother - he agreed to the mission immediately. He even sent soldiers and his Captain of the Guard: Kaladin, the Windrunner who'd freed him. Even if it was by trying - and mostly succeeding - to kill him. "It's time to go," Kaladin said. "Odium's forces have been close to Shinovar for some time. We need to get there before they do." Szeth nodded, checking his sphere pouches and scabbard for a third time. He couldn't imagine accidentally leaving sword-nimi behind, but doing so would prove more than disastrous. Then the two Radiants inhaled, tapped the remaining warriors, and Lashed them all towards the sky. Towards Shinovar. "I will cleanse the Shin of their false leaders," he thought to himself. "I will recover what they stole. The Honorblades. The weapons of the Heralds themselves." "Perhaps with them, we stand a chance." * * * The Shin High Council listened to the man before them speak. Rarashe-son-Lurdroler wasn't exactly the most charismatic of the Guardians, but he kept the oaths and was overall Truthful. Which made his report all the more disturbing. A man guarding the Honorblades attacked. And they were found dead and hanging from the ceiling, Stormlight running from his body. Rarashe said the attacker had fled, but they all knew what this meant. They'd lost both Honorblades capable of the Surge of Gravitation. One to the man who claimed to be a Herald, one to a man who called himself king. So this attack... it came from one of them. And if Nin-son-God was to be believed, he would never kill an innocent guardsman. There were infiltrators afoot in Shinovar. They knew of the Honorblades. And they weren't afraid. "Call for the Stone Shaman. We need a full investigation of this," said the lead councilman after a brief bout of whispering. "We can't lose our advantage." Eventually they found the main entry point on their city border: a causeway with Lashed bodies and disarmed men. There were two other points: one where a guard had vanished, another where they'd simply been strangled. Multiple incursions, although only one was a large group. So their Honorblades were under attack. Well, they wouldn't lose them without a fight. * * * Welcome to Long Game 72: The Secret of Shinovar! I, @Ashbringer, will be the GM with @Elandera as my co-GM and ________ as an IM. This game revolves around the concept of Szeth's Fourth Ideal, of returning to Shinovar and getting revenge for being falsely made Truthless, along with him and Kaladin collecting the Honorblades the Shin still have to use in the fight against Odium. I'd also like to note that while this game is a post-Oathbringer concept, it does NOT contain any spoilers for Rhythm of War unless I somehow managed to predict it correctly. I haven't read the book yet... so please keep it as spoiler-free as possible. There are two types of roles in this game, Unique roles and Honorblade roles. Honorblades are transferable; they can be passed around and upon the Bearer’s death they will go to a new player. Players carrying an Honorblade are called "Honorblade Bearers" or simply "Bearers", while the actual Honorblade uses the name of the corresponding Herald. Unique roles will be given to individual players and remain with them for the rest of the game (like normal roles) or until that player is eliminated. They are, as implied, each Unique. Basics: Honorblade Roles: Surges: Unique Roles: Order of Actions: Rule Clarifications: Signups will end December 4th at 5:00 PM PST. Please feel free to create an RP character! Most characters in-writeup will go by [name]-[son/daughter]-[name], but feel free to be a traveler from another land if the Shin naming conventions get too odd. Depending on if people are willing to be pinch-hitters I may install an activity filter, but... Edit: You must post at least once every two cycles. If you fail to do so, you will be replaced with a pinch hitter. (Or die, depending on how many pinch hitters there are.) Oh... and 1000 Posts!!! Spectator List: Player List: Pinch Hitters that I need to make an inactivity filter for: Quicklinks:
  15. I'd love to make it a three-way tie, but we already know there's at least one trigger-happy vote maniper... Edit: ... or not. Two way tie? Still no.
  16. ... but if Reading can't be TLR... then the kill was roleblocked... and you were roleblocked... but... Oh, I give up.
  17. The game Danex was a big pusher of making the PM web complicated. And his opponent in that debate (Books) is now dead. Danex has been active enough people can gather things from his death, if not much on Gears specifically. Reading also has a much bigger drawback if we’re wrong about him and he’s a village TLR. But I think he’s a better lynch than Danex. So, Shard of Reading.
  18. @Shard of Reading unfortunately hasn't been online in 20 hours... Gaaaaaah this really is a weird game. Apparently what comes from confusion is just more confusion. Danex, Gears, and Reading will all give a lot of information on their death, on various different people.
