  1. "Honeydew. And Bumblebears. maybe tapping it? or argoning bouncy fear-me-fire-balls. it looked like a chococo fact-Prority gain over music?" Pause. "Phobiaphobia halflings that are thikc and boshank?" Three coherent words. You stare a High Epic in the face and that's what you come up with? "I don't have time for this," Blockade said simply. He created two new fields around the Epic's wrists, Locking them in place as he did her ankles. Then he turned, dismissing the field that entrapped the three of them and instead reinforcing the main field with a overlapping shield. This nonsensical Epic somehow interfered with that field. He didn't want it to happen again. "Gyroto. With me. Now," he said, beckoning with a glowing finger. The man was at his shoulder in an instant, using his propellers to get a boost in speed. "I take it this is the problem you wanted taken care of?" he said, walking away from the field and the trapped Epic. "Somewhat. This happened mid-report. The others concern our dear neighbors. A... servant of the corrupter Epic - Depravity, not... a servant of Depravity requested a meeting. And then something happened in Moonglow's territory. I think they're getting ready to do something. Possibly a military venture." "Calamity," Blockade said simply. He paused. "Hmm. You head to Depravity's..." No. Blockade's anger still burned. He itched for a fight, to turn around and pulverize the girl who dared defy him. This was no time to meet the Epics of Edmonton who truly posed a threat. His fists clenched. One was still incased in a field, centered on his fist but mobile. "No. We wait. If Moonglow comes to us, so be it. In the meantime..." He slammed his fielded fist into the ground. The field shattered, sending a pulse of power out, as if a stick of dynamite had exploded outside of his hand. The combined forces made a small crater in the roadway. He didn't look at the girl trapped behind him. "... we see if anyone is foolish enough to help calm me down."
  2. I'll pinch hit for this. (I still need to read Starsight... )
  3. I will say, Mat’s wincon was to get Battar’s Honorblade. Or at least, that’s the wincon that he succeeded at. That’s not supposed to be incredibly secret.
  4. Daziron-son-Odium, Fused of Braize, floated through the hallway on the night he was to- wait, no. He was not Shin, even if this wooden place made it seem so. Daziron. Just Daziron. Daziron floated down the hallway, scraping his spear along the wall, but it didn’t make a mark, as it was only halfheartedly. The corridors had proven to be dangerous, especially at night, but Daziron wasn’t fazed- both because he’d just come back if killed and also that Szeth’s Cohorts had already failed to take him out once. But that wasn’t his only purpose for being out. The air was crisp, and felt somehow different from what Daziron was used to moving through. Everything was different in Shinovar, it seemed. What an odd place. He was fortunate to be leaving soon. Daziron heard a creak in the wood to the left, and realized that indeed, the Cohorts were here for another attempt. Fools. The figure leapt out of the darkness, knife swinging through the air, aimed at Daziron's chest. He calmly swooped to the side, leaving the figure stumbling into open air. The attacker regained their footing quickly, and came at him again- determined to finish the job even though the moment of surprise had passed. Almost bored, Daziron flew aside, again sending the attacker's knife only through air, but this time he rammed his forearm into the man's head. The would-be-killer crumpled. Still alive, but unconscious. It would do. Daziron audibly sighed. He would have thought the Cohorts would have learned from their first failure. Perhaps they would be satisfied with what followed. Daziron continued down the halls, looking down each corridor. If the tip he had received was… yes, there. In the corner, huddling in the shadows. A Shin youth, looking to be about nine. Poor boy. Who had sent him here to meet someone like Daziron? Daziron hovered over to the child, lowering to stand on the ground upon coming face-to-face. The boy’s wide eyes looked up at him with fear. He gulped, then spoke. “Sir, Fused, uh, sir.” He looked down from Daziron’s face, and coughed. “Sir, this is, uh, yours.” He winced, looking ashamed. The boy held out his right hand, curled in a half circle, thumb pointing down, and Daziron watched with anticipation. 'Thunk' The sound of Honorblade sinking into wood resounded through the corridor, a sound they all had heard quite enough the past few days. But there. There it was. Oh, yes. Bless Honor and Cultivation above, there it was. Daziron waved the youth away with a “You are dismissed.” and the child scampered out of sight, a simple bystander in this conflict. Well, Daziron supposed he was too. He grasped the familiar hilt and pulled the honorblade out of the floor, swishing it through the air. Yes, this was his. “Mother’s home…” He whispered. And finally, he let the lightweaving given by the stray Radiant so many days ago wisp away, the image and voice of the Fused dissolving into Light. Battar, Herald of the Almighty, had gotten what she had come for. She smiled, and giggled just a bit. “Mother’s home.” An Elsecall later, Shinovar was gone. And she was free. Blessedly, for the first time since the Binding of the Oathpact, she felt free. The Highstorm raged outside. Perhaps the Stormfather was aware of the One drawing its power. Perhaps not. But when the people of Shinovar looked through their windows at the weakened storm, they could see His face. And it smiled. * * * Ookla's Dice / Matrim's Dice was attacked, but survived! 5. Cassie nodded. That was good enough for her. She didn't really have to worry about thieves, especially if they knew her main client's name. "That cart has the main supplies," she said, pointing. "Is that all you'll need?" She paused. "Actually, I'll probably come with you. I can close down for a while, and I've got some experience with Lord." And I need to find those spikes. @kenod
  6. "Stickything and banana land mines! We were just talking about Melons, fire ants, and Chipmunk trees! and then the roof fell and a snowman emerged Hard reset? And then you came meloning out of the blue and there was a whole lot of bagels and palindromes. Any questions?" What in Calamity's name... Gyroto hit a button on his helmet, then started muttering. His voice started echoing in his earpiece. "She's a speed Epic. Was tapping on the field... fast. I don't think the ripple or cracks actually left the surface, but it was cracking...". He paused. "And yes, she was talking to me like this. But a bit more coherently. But... yeah." Blockade nodded curtly, then turned to the little Epic. "So you want to mess with something that's not yours..." he said under his breath. Then his eyes flashed. Two cyan hemispheres appeared, encapsulating the girl's feet at the ankles, fusing them to the ground. Maybe they would hold her, maybe they wouldn't. But he had a hunch they would hold her for long enough. He walked up to her. "I won't ask again," he said, placing a similar field over his own hand, letting it swing freely, like some strange flail. "You were doing something to that field," he said, pointing. "What. Where. You. Doing." @Exotwo
  7. Battar's blade was essentially in limbo last turn, waiting to see if TJ's killer would claim it. Now, one way or another, a player holds it again. Ishar's blade (and all other blades, iirc) has been in "circulation" the whole time, so to speak.
  8. The leader didn't even look at the mob this time as he watched them squabbling. "I think that we should ask Fura more about what's going on," Dazrion-son-Odium finally added above the croud. "I agree!" shouted Jes-son-Laal. "We should kill them for not contributing!" he echoed. Many shouted their agreement. "Whoa whoa whoa," Dazrion said. "That's not what I said at all! Why are you so eager to kill Fura?" "I say Lin-daughter-Lanari has been hiding something!" accused Eternum. "She wanted to know who Galatar's killer was, but had no concern for Illwei's! Did she already know?" That got some attention. But nobody seemed to be willing to bend on which. It was a tie. Again. Finally Ganeth-null-Shantis-Mawelar sighed. "Okay, bring out the chanceslip. Again." "Aye," said Sunwalker. "Since there's three... flip it twice, and... if it lands mark up twice, Lin is guilty. Mark down twice, Fura. One of each, Jes." This received a good cheer until Alvron, resident emissary of the Gods of Luck and Chance, stepped in. "Hold on a minute! The chanceslip could either land up, down or down, up! It's twice as likely for Jes to die as the others!" Back to square one. Finally someone piped up, "what about Stone, Paper, Shardblade? Have each take one, and then have the leader reveal which one he chose. Whichever loses to that, they die. The others live." This was finally agreed to, with a good bit of "for now"s muttered under breaths. The leader turned around, back to the three condemned, who huddled, arguing over who would get which item. Stone beat Shardblade, Shardblade beat paper, paper beat stone... somehow. He wasn't entirely sure how inconvenienced a stone would be with a piece of paper over it. But that was just part of the game. He turned his head, holding out one arm hiding his item while his other fell to his waist, reaching for his knife. Fura stood to the left, hand upright on his palm in the image of a Shardblade. Lin stood in the middle, palms pressed together as paper. And Jes stood to the right, fist clasped in the clumsy rendition of a rock. The leader turned fully, revealing his choice. Shardblade. "So Lin it is." He flicked the knife he was holding into Lin's throat before she had a chance to question the ruling. And the familiar, cursed sound of an Honorblade embedding itself in wood resounded throughout the hall. * * * Quinn0928 was lynched! 11. So, I might be gone up until right before rollover. I’ve got a family Zoom meeting at 4 PST which they insist will only last an hour... which... doesn’t leave me with too much confidence. I’m not entirely sure if @Elandera can fill in, so writeup may be delayed (more than, yknow, usuall). Rollover should still be at 5 PST; I should be on in time to yell Time but I won’t be around to give vote counts. So please don’t go vote crazy...
  12. Gyroto had no idea what to say. One of the most powerful Epics in Edmonton was furious at this girl - Kaia? - and she was spouting nonsense. She had no idea how much trouble she was in. Or how much he was in, he realized. Blockade usually saw him as a valued second, but if he got too... Epic-y, that changed. Quickly. He popped out his rotors again. If Blockade started brawling with a speed Epic, he wanted to be off the ground, and preferably out of the death bubble entirely. He did have a report to give... Blockade collapsed a field at the nearest building - one he'd managed to cover just a few days ago. Ripping open the door - not bothering to see whether it stayed on his hinges - he stepped inside. Moments later, he kicked down the outside door. The bubble containing the girl and a very nervous looking Gyroto was just ahead. He planned out a shape, then made a new field just around the outside of it - one that fit him right within the edges. Then he collapsed the old field. If they hadn't been paying attention, it would look like he phased through the field. There was a decent chance they would notice the shift in borders, but that wasn't the point. He crossed his arms. "Explain this. Now."
  13. Blockade soared. The sky was usually - okay, always - Gyroto's domain. His abilities let him bend that domain, as they did many others. Instead of flying with grace, Blockade alternated stepping left and right, essentially climbing a slippery staircase that was summoned beneath his feet. Up this close to the edge of the forcefield, everything glowed the same cyan that his shirt was. It didn't look that different, honestly. But there was always the part of Blockade that was so impressed that this was his power, his control, his creation. His creation moved. A ripple across its surface, scattering the light. What. Blockade looked almost directly down, through the field. It appeared he'd arrived, and there was a girl outside the field. Tapping it... somehow with enough force to ripple up to... how high was he? Gyroto stood there, looking conflicted. Figured. He was weak. His power didn't give him the sight that Blockade's did. Part of him knew that was too far. Most of him didn't care. Blockade slammed a palm to the field, stilling its ripples with a thought. Then he moved. Dropping the two fields that served as his steps, he fell straight down, hurtling toward the ground, summoning more fields to augment his glowing armor. Including two large fields under his feet. He hit the ground, right across from the girl. The twin fields shattered, releasing a pulse of energy that cracked the pavement and stopped most of his momentum. His personal field took care of the rest. He didn't wait to see her reaction, although he did see Gyroto flinch slightly even with that helmet of his. He could probably tell how angry he was. Blockade outlined a sphere in his mind, then waved a palm, encasing both in a field. Then he held up a finger, and went to go look for the nearest overlap point. @Exotwo
  14. (Because I said I'd do it after the writeup, and then didn't...) @eltruT is currently up for the inactivity filter. Please post by the end of the cycle, or you will be replaced with a pinch hitter.
  15. Illwei clamped a hand over her mouth. She'd been running. From who she couldn't tell, it was too dark in this place at night. Wooden torches on wooden walls were apparently worth a few stubbed toes to the architects. They hadn't taken into account someone fleeing for their life. A grating sound echoed... somewhere. 'This place is like a maze,' she thought as she began moving again. 'Echoing sounds, the same walls, muffled-' A hand closed over her mouth. That hand was not hers. 'Quiet!' whispered a voice before she could scream. A figure stood against the wall, a shuttered lantern in hand. 'Wandering about might just get us both killed.' Illwei paused, shaking her head free of his grip. '... Galatar?' I heard a noise. What are you doing?' 'Trying to make sure this' - he gestured vaguely in the dark - 'doesn't end up where it shouldn't. We should go, before anyone..." His voice drifted off. Something crashed to the floor, and the now-unshuttered lantern illuminated the scene. There was blood sprouting from Galatar's robe. "Oh," he simply said, before falling to his knees and finally collapsing. 'Galatar!' Illwei yelled. The grating sound returned. Right behind her. She spun around, but the weapon was already heading for her face. Her last thought was not of the murderers concealed head, nor the body of Galatar at her feet, nor the Honorblade sunk into the floor. The club was stone. Infidel. * * * Ooklil' the Wei / Illwei was killed! They were a member of the Shin High Council! TJ Shade was killed! They were a member of the Shin High Council and the Bearer of Battar's Honorblade! Battar's Honorblade is available to be claimed by TJ Shade's killer! 16. A knock. Cassie was too focused on the metal before her, so she simply Pulled the door open. "Come in!" she yelled, probably a bit louder than necessary. A figure stood on the doorstep. She couldn't quite make her out... something about the smoke from the forge? No. This was something else. Cassie dunked the axehead into water - it would probably need to be fixed later, but whatever - and nodded to the customer. "I'm Cassandra Adama. What can I get for you?" She paused. Hmm. "Are you here for a pickup?" @kenod * * * Poller walked quickly through the alleyways - lowercase A, thankfully. It was getting dark out, and the Alleycity was not a place one wanted to be wandering parts at night, fairy tale eldritch monsters or not. Fortunately Cassie's shop was in a better part of town. Which... didn't change all that much about the situation, now that Poller thought about it. The Lightweaved woman was following, not close but they were obviously together. Well not together together, but - oh dear, it did look focus Poller this is important. He lowered his tapping on bronze - it was running low anyway. Well, relatively low. He kept a lot of bronze stores for emergencies. "That's it there," he said, pointing to the storefront. Then he stopped. "There's... someone at the door?" @Ookla the Uscritic
