I think this one is a bit more appropriate given the context, though

My school, for instance, offers only one pace of math class, and two paces of language arts classes (the latter of which I was completely unaware of until recently). The former of the two is insultingly slow for my needs, the latter overwhelmingly fast. 

Or, in other words, my school's pace of English class is rushing me along faster than I can handle, and its pace of math class is actively slowing me down.

Don't you just love one size fits all education?
