Status: in tears because of how destructive school is.
My school starts at 7:45, which, if you've done any research into teen's neurochemistry--specifically their circadian rhythm--is horrifyingly early.

And it moves at such a fast pace that if you miss a single day or have any sort of metal condition that makes school unusually difficult for you, then you're out of luck. You'll most likely fall behind, the assignments piling up faster than you can finish them. I speak from experience here--I have some of the worst ADD I've ever seen--not that I have much to compare to--and the only reason I passed middle school was on a technicality--a covid-caused free pass for everyone, regardless of their grades. On top of that, I missed one day from a cold a few days ago, and the only reason I didn't miss two is because I dreaded how far I would fall behind if I did.
