So... that's not really vote analysis, that's colored vote counts and an unrelated vote (TJ voted on exactly zero of the people Sart greened). Feels like an attempt to replicate something useful but that couldn't have taken more than two minutes. Also, to put a finer point on my Archer response-- that looks like a clear double agenda to me, as his reason for unvoting TJ also applies to me (arguably more so as I had a longer elim streak, though I know that's not how probability works etc) but he still double voted me.

Perhaps more compellingly, what's the chance Mat rands elim AGAIN and shoot JNV AGAIN? Mat Mat -Archer in the future, probably

Short on time but I think I'll go Sart and TKN. I don't remember if I even had a TKN lean before but I definitely didn't like his interaction with Stink just then, and I don't really agree with Araris' read.

Oh yeah I'm gonna RP an apology (see my other RPs this turn) but I just meant it's not going to involve Sart or Francis' food in any way. Actually I'll just do that now, so I don't forget. I mean, yes, but answering the question in that way would feel like me bossing you around. I'd much rather give my reads/views and let everyone else come to their own conclusions based on those things. Francis entered the small conference room, heart in his throat. He was gripping the paper with his prewritten apology speech on it tighter than he'd like to... hopefully it would still be readable. He wasn't sure why he was so nervous. Maybe because all nine Masters were in the room. They sat in the very back, on an elevated stage higher than the one Francis had been ushered to. No small talk was spoken between them, and despite all eighteen of their eyes being trained on him they managed to look very bored. The Masters staring at him wouldn't have struck him as something he found calming, but the realization that they didn't really want to be here either made the moment easier. 'For them,' Francis told himself, 'this is an inconvenient way to spend the morning. They'd rather be doing anything else. They don't care about me, or the apology, they just want to be gone.' That was fine with him. More of an excuse to get it over with quickly. The rest of the seats in the room were sparsely filled with other students. It was Francis' understanding that attendance had been advertised lightly, but made highly optional, so few had turned out for it. The formality of it all, combined with the low attendance and even lower attention span of everyone in the room made for an almost laughable environment. He reached the podium in the center of the stage, unwrinkled his paper, and began to speak in a slightly shaky voice: "Dearest Masters and fellow University attendees, "One of the most important virtues required to grace these prestigious halls is that of timeliness. Classes and other various appointments must be attended for a successful schooling experience, and they must be attended at the time they are offered. In addition, the strict yet generous slot of time allotted for tuition payment and lodging requests is one that is large enough that there is no excuse for missing it. "I missed that deadline. In doing so, I showed conduct unbecoming of one elevated to the position of E'lir and disgraced the generosity that the Masters have shown me in allowing my attendance here. I apologize, and ask for your grace and kindness as I remedy this error by heightening my studies, planning better for myself in the future, and marking clearly the next date of tuition payments so as to never make this mistake again. "I thank you for your time, and wish you all a very nice remainder of this beautiful day." Francis folded up his paper, stuffed it in his pockets, and exited the room without giving so much a glance at the Masters before him.

Umm... tuition? Lodging? At my current posting rate I barely scraped by, at that was starting with triple what I have now. As Araris mentioned, it'd actually be easier to pay for other thigns while expelled, but I do want to progress through EP, and I can't do that unless I'm actually at the University. So repeatedly getting my tuition inflated because of something stemming from a nonsensical RP vote is a big problem for me regardless of alignment. I don't want to direct your votes, but I do want you to consider economic situations different from yours and factor that into your reads. I'm not annoyed because I'm elim, I'm annoyed because being brought on the horns affects me more than the average player. Obviously that isn't a reason not to vote me if you actually suspect me, but I don't want to be kicked out for a bad reason, if that makes sense. It's like the 'caught for the wrong reasons' thing but reversed, I guess. Edit: Accidentally posted early. Relating to the above, I also think it's telling that you and TKN are both Nobles and are currently two of the loudest voices against me. Araris is the obvious exception here, but either he's evil and playing into it or hasn't really understood what my argument is, like everyone else.

Have this Kas quote from yesterday: When was the last time this tell was used successfully? How many times was I annoyed during my last three-four very recent elim games and this 'tell' didn't show up? Can you try to read my posts and read me in a way that doesn't lazily used an out of date meta? I'm sorry if I come off as annoyed. It's because I am. That doesn't mean I'm evil. I'm just trying to have my own RPful chill first-village-game-in-a-long-time and it'd be pretty nice if I could stop getting voted for dumb reasons and actually be able to pay for things. I know you don't have to worry about that, but I do, and it's something that is very present in how I'm playing this game. Edit: I'm not annoyed at any one person, btw. Just the situation being dumb :P.

Sure, but also like... have you met me? xD I do that anyway, and this one particularly stung because it was particularly dumb and literally caused me to not have enough money to pay for the things I wanted to pay for. The next few seconds passed heart-poundingly slow. But finally the secretary took the envelope, opened it up, and paused. "Well, you're late," she stated. "It would not be fit with University standards to accept this." "Please," Francis begged, desperate. "I lost track of time rediscovering an old hobby. It's my fault. I'm not some noble snub who took his time out of laziness. That envelope holds all I own." He wasn't sure if he'd get any pity points from that, but it was worth a try. After another too long pause, the secretary sighed, walking back around her desk. "Fine. But this won't go without consequences." Francis relaxed. He didn't care what the consequences were, as long as he could still attend. "First, we'll have to relocate you to the Mews. This should eliminate any further tardiness, as you'll be on campus at all times. Second, the Masters will require a public apology and explanation, to, ah, appease them. This was, after all, conduct unbecoming of an E'lir such as yourself." Her eyes flashed a bit, and Francis echoed her earlier sigh. "Thank you," he said, exiting the building. At least he wasn't expelled, and he could care less about the apology. But it would appear that he'd have to move house.

Sart also voted me (and someone else I'm forgetting) which like was the entire catalyst for the fiasco that put me on the horns lol (and might be why you elim read that paragraph of mine-- you missed the important context) I think the VC mechanics are that erased votes show as like completely gone so that might be what's going on here. That would work, but I'm going to stubbornly insist that no one ate his food because he made it, ate it, and there were no leftovers ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Francis ran. After arriving back in his room last night, he'd pulled out his instrument and began to play. Scales and melodies that he'd learned as a child had flowed back to him far better than he'd anticipated, and he'd practiced through the night. Into the morning. Past the tuition reporting deadline. Well, not quite. He'd noticed the time with ten minutes to spare, yet knew there was no way he'd make it to campus in time. He knew he should have turned in his tuition and housing request sooner, yet just... hadn't cared to make time for it. Well, he was going to pay for that. He clutched the envelope containing every drab and talent he'd earned over the last three months a little tighter. 'Hopefully I'll pay for it', he thought. More than a small part of him worried that the Masters wouldn't even accept him back. He knew they were strict about their rules and deadlines. But he wasn't egregiously late... Finally, the tuition building came into view. Francis upped his jog into a sprint, bursting into the office. The secretary was cleaning up. She raised an eyebrow at him. "Yes?" "Here..." he puffed, "is my tuition... and... housing request..." He held out the envelope weakly, one hand on his knee.

Whoa expelling happened okay then I’m more than a little annoyed at the whole me on the horns thing because it literally sprung from an rp character quirk but sure I don’t mind a downgrade in living conditions and an even steeper uphill climb for tuition, nooope :| If you think I’m rping my apology in relation to the votes on me you’re dead wrong because as far as Francis is considered no one at his food thanks muchly But that’s for tomorrow cause it’s laaaate >>

I saw your previous posts, but weren't you just saying that you were pointing out the faults in my argument (which were definitely there) the same way I was pointing out the faults in Sart's? Like, what I took from that exchange is that it wasn't a very good reason to e read you and that there was a reason for the difference, which I already sort of knew as I wasn't ever going to vote you for it. If I'm missing something further you'll have to be even more direct :P. This is why I got misexed by ten villagers in my one MU game, yes :P.

As you mentioned, I am poor, so an offhand arbitrary vote affects me much more than it affects, say, you. My main point was that he shouldn't vote based on RP, and I thought it was funny enough that his RP reason was wrong anyway to lump the second two points in there with it. I'd probably have made this point regardless of who he voted on, but I do think you're right in that me being the target strengthened my reaction. But again, it affects me more than most. The 'fairness' aspect was the secondary argument, not the main one. Votes based on RP are bad, regardless of anything else. I don't think that's a weak counterpoint :P. Also, you should know better than to compare our elim playstyles, come on now It might be an overreaction, but the wrongness of Sart's argument wasn't something I wanted to let pass. I almost want to argue that you double voting me for this despite village reading me for other reasons is an overreaction, but that probably wouldn't get anywhere :P. Other thing-- reinstating the No Nobles PM was less about overthrowing them (that was Drake's thing) and more because I'd accidentally posted in the OG one today and needed to fix my mistake.

Ok so it is just that Yeah idk, that definitely used to be a tell but no one has mentioned it recently for good reason I think. I should be able to point out the faults in an argument as faulted as Sart’s, surely It kind of feels like Archer is deliberately trying to screw over my tuition but I also think I’m just overly paranoid in that regard :P. #RuhLife

Wait a minute, the thread didn’t close two hours ago? This is great news for me :P. @Archer it’s a weird defense because it’s a weird vote. Sart voted me because I gave my character a quirk about liking salt more than most. I called him out on it. I don’t see what is out of hand about that. Point 3 is a joke, point 2 half is.

Voting purely for RP related reasons is bad. If you're going to vote, vote on someone you actually suspect, not because I gave my character a quirk. If you are going to vote for RP related reasons, at least make those reasons accurate. Francis is a "fine" cook, and the salt "isn't bad" and "supports the other flavors". Calling him terrible and saying it drowns the other flavors is mischaracterizing my RP which isn't even related to anything anyway, why are we even having this conversation xD Francis never shared his food with anybody, so there's no way you'd know what it tastes like, nor an incentive or evidence of poison. Tempted to double vote Sart again here but I can never tell the difference between e!Sart and v!Sart when I can't get inside his head regardless. Will probably just stay split here, hopefully he either unvotes or I get lucky because if I go on the horns again I legitimately don't think I'll be able to pay rent Other misc notes and things that have been on my mind --Mostly feel Kas is probably village but that doesn't stop me from getting serious e/e vibes from his early interactions with TKN from today. I think those come from a difference I see in how he treated TKN's vote on him compared to Wonko/others from last turn; he contested the latter while giving TKN a pass even before he goes out of his way to explain himself. --Disagree with Archer re:Araris if that wasn't clear, I don't like how he's parking himself on a relatively lazy read when I think there is more, if not a lot more, to go on and about. @Szeth_Pancakes-- One I could eventually destroy, why? Feeling far more nervous than he should have, Francis swung himself into a barstool at a nice place called the Eolian. The name rang a bell, though he couldn't quite place it. He hadn't chosen it out of recognition, anyway; instead it had seemed a good balance between something affordable and something enjoyable. Though, given he'd been forced to fork over a jot to just get in the place, he could be wrong about that. As he sat, the man next to him turned to greet him, sipping a drink. "So," he said, "are you here for the pipes as well?" The man gestured to a band of musicians playing in the center of the room, who Francis hadn't missed, for they were very skilled. 'Pipes?' Francis thought. Then it dawned on him. The legendary talent pipes, a mark given by this very tavern to declare the bearer one of prodigious musical skill. Now that he looked closer, Francis could see a sort of stringed instrument under the man's stool. "No," he said with a small chuckle. "I'm an aspiring chef, not a musician." The man nodded. "Just here for the music, then. I can appreciate that." Francis returned the nod as he ordered a drink, but his thoughts again turned to his youth, where his mother had trained him on multiple instruments, a few of which he'd shown aptitude for. He hadn't played in quite some time, yet had brought along a few of his cases out of habit. He hadn't thought about those for, well... at least a month. A crazy dream spawned in his head, an imagination of a world where he performed for the Eolian and earned his talent pipes. Such a world would surely be one where he wouldn't have to worry about paying tuition. But he was just a chef, albeit a chef with some musical experience and natural talent. He was too out of practice. Right? Francis soon found that the idea wouldn't leave his head, and he went back to his room that night with the resolve to practice, practice, practice.

Why has not everyone posted. Why are there only 18 posts? It’s KKC. Semi serious question here disregarding the fact that I know there isn’t an answer. Araris Sart Really don’t have a lot to go off of here but I don’t feel that’s my fault lol Fake page break on mobile lesgo (also note that, like the writeups, Francis’ whereabouts are not necessarily accurate to my own :P. And again I’ll stress that I haven’t read KKC so expect inaccuracies lol) _____________________________________ At certain places, Imre felt like another world. Francis passed musicians such as himself, shops advertising extravagant outfits and costumes, and inns where an alien warmth spilled from within, all things that he just hadn’t seen while attending the University. The occasional seedy alleyway and ramshackled bar, however, did a fine job of destroying the illusion of utopia. No doubt the Black Market was in full swing, and no one seemed to care. Francis wasn’t even sure he cared. At the very least, it was a reminder that even his poor living conditions were preferable to a life on the streets. His anxieties regarding money grew, and he did his best Tom push them aside. Right about then he passed the Loaded Dice, and considered going in to toss a throw. He’d had some luck as a youth, and it could be a way to earn some swift money. Or lose all he had. No, he wasn’t quite that desperate. It would be a much better use of his time to just get a drink at a bar of good report. Yes, he could get a drink at his own inn, but he preferred a beverage that tasted pleasant once in awhile. If only he’d trained himself as a bartender.

His food was fine. Mediocre, really. As Francis chewed on the carrots and asparagus he’d made, he tried to tell himself how good it was, but he could see the self-delusion in that without too much trouble. It was… just a pile of vegetables he hadn’t even grown himself. Did warming them up even count as cooking? Rationally, he knew he’d done more than simply warm them. The char on the edges was flawless, and they had the perfect amount of seasoning. But those things seemed small when paired with a starting ingredient as cheap as money could buy. Every time he cooked in this little room, Francis felt as if he could be doing and learning so much more. It was why he’d come to the University in the first place. But, of course, the Masters didn’t care how good your asparagus was. At least he’d doubled down on his studies recently, even earning some of their approval. But there was something hollow in even that. University life taught him much, yes, but it wasn’t fulfilling. He was born to be a cook— no, a chef. You didn’t just have the ability to grow a perfect curly mustache for no reason. Francis sighed, his eyes being drawn to the outside. It was the final month of the term, which meant that stress levels were at an all-time high as he frantically tried to earn enough money to stay at the University. He thought he’d be able to stay. But you could never be sure until it was over. As if the end of term 1 was ‘over’. Francis chuckled at that, then caved into the pull he felt and left to explore the surrounding towns, because he might not get another chance.

He started with salt. It was, in his mind, the base of every dish. Francis recalled his little siblings in past years claiming they didn't like salt, not realizing it was the very thing that brought out the flavor in their favorite meal-- and in every other meal. While some cooks sprinkled it on the top of a completed dish as an afterthought, Francis treated it with the respect proportional to its importance by dusting his pan with a thin layer of fine white crystal before adding anything else. Most who tasted his food found it overly salty. Francis countered that all the food they'd ever had was underseasoned. In his cooking, you could taste the salt, but it wasn't bad by any means. It was there, supporting the other flavors, an unsung culinary hero. Every time he considered the nuance of salt, he tried, and failed, to turn it into a metaphor on life. He was sure it worked, somehow. He just hadn't found the words yet. Of course, every supporter needs support of its own-- salt on its own was, unfortunately, disgusting. He saw cooking as a balancing act where he had to lean each support according to its weight on each other support so that none fell, but constructed something amazing. And so Francis scooped in his assorted vegetables, a pinch of water, and set it over the flame to begin its simmer. [I am not a chef. Or anything close to a chef. Take all culinary advice/statements in my RPs with a grain of salt.] [wink wink] ...l need money so badly you guys xD Functionally missing a term was not good for my savings. No idea how all the inactive people will continue attending the University. I guess they just won't :P. As for me, I'll probably have to just RP a bunch unless people start talking because I can only write so many 200 word analysis posts on the same 4 pages >> Question stemming from curiosity and laziness: Is there a way to place a contract on the Black Market and have the tuition reduction be greater than the amount put in limbo from your own bank account?

Yumi and the Nightmare Painter Full Reactions (Cosmere Edition)
Mat replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Painter and Yumi might be my new favorite Cosmere couple, which is really saying something considering my two favorite Brandon characters are Adolin and Shallan. Something about the way he wrote their relationship just... worked so well for me. I feel like I ought to reread both to give a proper comparison, but at the moment I'd put this handily above Tress. This story was more compelling to me, the world was more interesting, and my brain was more invested in figuring out the Cosmere connections and shenanigans. And the fact that Tress more or less followed my expectations but I could not have been more wrong about where this story was going to end up. I didn't mind the Hoid infodumps at the end, probably because I said aloud "I'm so confused" and then turned the page to read, 'Some of you are probably confused' or whatever it was I needed an infodump or two. I... kind of wish Yumi had stayed dead, but I understand why Brandon didn't end the story that way, and am fine with it. But the lines and setup about the sad story throughout and right at the end were so good, and mostly went unused. That being said, at the line in the Epilogue where Hoid said 'If you ever go to visit them... etc' my heart actually ached to go visit them, which I think is the first time that's happened to me in any book about any fictional character(s) in any fictional place ever, soooo yeah I think this book had an impact on me in ways I don't even realize. I was seriously hyped about the Sleepless, I love the Sleepless and will never not get hyped about them. Philico forever!!!! Probably other thoughts but I don't remember them. Off to listen to Shardcast... -

Actually sat down and read stuff-- here are my takes The lack of engagement from all parties is odd, maybe because the exe doesn't actually exe(ecute)? Also kind of a trend lately which is too bad but I'm not exactly innocent of that. Let's keep it up, guys! Feels like TKN sort of is breaking his own voting meta but I'm not sure if that's a solid meta at all. Noting the difference, at least. Steel's vote is kinda lazy but doesn't feel evil, exactly? Well actually my brain is trying to tell me it's a distancing attempt but it's obviously not a distancing attempt :P. JNV RPing with punctuation is kinda hype ngl, too bad they went insane. It seems like a lot of the votes were based on RP things rather than OOC things which isn't ideal and I don't know what to make of it. Maybe I'm not reading things close enough. But like Araris' Archer vote seems solely RP based. Archer's defense of Steel is kind of strange but as I mentioned yesterday I actually like his voting pattern so /shrug. Ah wait he explains this later okay. Is it just me or does that Sart post feel like someone else stole his account xD Isn't TKN auctioning votes a thing that has happened before Okay so... Araris, Sart (@Araris Valerian @Sart, the game is going! :D.) The stairs creaked under Francis' feet, each board threatening to collapse. His door creaked as he swung it open, revealing his pitiful accommodations. His bed creaked as he sat down-- the mattress was old and uncomfortable. Francis sighed. He hadn't chosen his hand in life, but it was his. He'd lived far enough years to become desensitized to his own situation. He smoothed his mustache. At least that was pristine. His eyes found the corner of the room, where his reason for coming up here stood. A wooden box, about an arms-length in each dimension, rested there. The top opened downward to form a smaller metal inner box-- a fire place, if not a fireplace. The contraption was of Francis' own design, a kind of poor man's oven. He'd purchased the materials, along with a couple pots and pans, with the jots he'd had leftover after paying the first term's tuition. It wasn't great-- it was barely useable-- but it was better than nothing. He took from a pile of kindling a few branches and slivers, and placed them inside the metal interior of his oven, which he then lit on fire. It was a small flame, but it produced heat all the same. And it would be relatively controlled in the oven. Francis relaxed at the sound of the crackling wood, and pulled out a pan and some vegetables. It was time to cook.
