It's not what they can do, he thought sullenly it's what they can see. Everest rubbed his face tiredly. "More questions than answers, as is the way of the world." He raised his head to look at her again, "You're right of course, we shouldn't hurt them unless we have no other choice. And even then not without thinking about it long and hard. Until then we should do nothing more than intimidation." As Ben spoke he realised he may have given off the wrong image. He wasn't willing to torture them. Probably. Maybe. He still hadn't figured it out. And of course it was good they remembered to give him food, it would just have been more convenient if they forgot. "Of course, he's your prisoner, and if it works, all the better."

Ask The_Archivist Anything (He Holds The Answer)
The_Archivist replied to The_Archivist's topic in AMAs
Good, thank you Probably Hoid, he's so funny and mysterious and it's fun to look for him in books. Yellow. That sounds cool. Pen if it's one you can erase, otherwise mechanical pencil. Gravity Falls. I don't really have Reeses where I live, but pieces sounds better. I'm doing a re-read of Oathbringer and Warbreaker. -

Everest was relieved when Shana bandaged her arm. A person could bleed out like that if they weren't careful. He had to resist the urge to squirm when she mentioned invisible spren, his eyes darting around the room in a futile attempt to find it. And then she said there was a voidbringer here. The mask slipped, his eyes wide, his mouth gaping open. However, he quickly took control again and spoke with a calmness he didn't have. "I've memorised a book about it. And several books about detecting lies. So you could say that. But before I can interrogate him I need to ask you some questions. Do you know if he's of high rank? How long has he been captive here? Did you feed him during that time?" He slowed down for the last question, "Most importantly, how far are you willing to go to get the information you want?"

John grinned in sudden ecstasy, "Thank you so much." Yes! Mission accomplished! He sprinted back to where he had been reading before and started reading with renewed vigor. Even the increasingly noisy bug couldn't distract him.

"It's fine, I tend to ramble myself. I'll be sure to let you know if I manage to figure it out." He moved towards the table and remembered something. "It really would be a shame if something were to happen to all of those books. And considering Alleycity's history, that seems pretty likely. So if you agree I would love to make a copy in my coppermind as a backup." He would do it either way of course, but this way was more polite and bought him brouney points with the leader of the rusting Scholars Guild.

"I specifically wanted to learn more about their hive-mind, many bodies that create one consciousness. Since they breed their cremlings, they achieve a form of immortality that lets them survive even if a large number of them are destroyed. I wanted to check if it was known if it worked because of connection, or Identity, or something else entirely."

Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)

Granted, but because of the pandemic people aren't allowed to go outside. I wish for the power to summon any book I want. -
I am the skybreaker of that thread, and even I don't care, so I think it's fine

He nodded, "Right, that makes sense. It would be a shame if something happened to all that knowledge. It's probably the only collection of it's kind in the entire universe after all." As he spoke, the bug started making noise in it's little vial. I'll take you outside soon, little guy, I promise. @Rushu42

"Sure." Why did Shana keep going like her injury was nothing? Not only was it obviously not true, but it didn't make any sense! They had a person who could heal her, a person she was obviously very close to, why didn't she ask him? He picked up the plate with one hand and took a slice with the other and tried it. His eyes widened. That was good cake, probably the best chocolate cake he ever had. He took a mental note to ask Leona for a recipe when he had the chance. As he walked into the living room he exclaimed "There's cake if anyone wants it." And sat down on a sofa after setting the plate down on the coffee table.

396. If you think there is something behind you, don't turn around slowly, run away as quickly as possible. 396a. If you are going to turn around, don't do it slowly, do it fast. Doing it slowly just gives the monster/murderer like ten extra seconds in which it/he can kill you easily.

Can I get one too?

John checked his watch, it was getting late. He could always get in a late night of research - Harmony knows he's done that often enough - but it would be more convenient to do it in his new rooms in TUBA. He approached Aln, "Pardon me, but is it possible to borrow books from the guild?" @Rushu42
