  1. Didn't see this above so sorry if I'm repeating something. I believe it is confirmed that a dawnshard is what gives Hoid his immortality.
  2. Yes, Shardplate does enhance strength. However, there also haven't been any surgebinders we know of that could test the theory while shardbows have been a thing. I don't remember the books saying that stormlight doesn't. Could you point me to where it does? Also, doesn't Kal lift Rock in the chasms? I think it says that he wouldn't be able to do that normally.
  3. Really? It definitely seems like it does. Like how the bridge felt lighter while everyone was charged with stormlight as they ran to pick up Rock's family. It's the simplest and most straightforward answer. Granted, this is a Sanderson work so that logic doesn't always apply.
  4. We know the horneaters are larger and stronger than the Alethi. That, combined with the increase in physical strength that comes from holding stormlight, is my guess for why he was able to draw it. Also, making the bow more pliable would decrease both the power and range of the shardbow, which seemed unaffected when he shot it.
  5. Flying through one of the Empire State Building's windows.
  6. While it has it's merits, (mostly getting kids into reading) I would say that it is far from a great story. Yes, it's meant for a younger audience, but there are some problems that I feel like that makes it worse. (These were brought up to me when I took the One Year Adventure Novel course for high school. If you don't want your ability to enjoy stories to be stained for the rest of your life, don't take that.) My enjoyment of the stories after childhood has also been hindered by some major continuity errors/really dumb choices made by the characters. So personally I believe Harry Potter has its place. I just feel like it's a really small place.
  7. *bank repossesses win factory due to massive debt for the past 4 factories that were destroyed*
  8. Granted, but you can only save @Nameless My heart's desire is to receive some chips and hummus. Edit: Tagged the wrong person.
  9. My brother is now just waiting for her to see the Dalinar Lift scenes.
  10. My mind went down two paths. First was how in Elantris the Seons were affected during the Reod. With an improper connection to the investiture, say the spikes being removed, could cause a similar result. Second, Shallan gets a crossbow bolt to the head and nothing happens to Pattern. If removing the spikes resulted in a mainly cognitive result, the spren would likely continue with minimal problems.
  11. I feel like there would be a lot of bad uses for pokemon. (Not to detract from the good stuff already mentioned.) But larvatar has to eat a mountain to grow up, and be careful with shedninja.
  12. Pretty good system. It seems relatively standard, except for the "forgetting what you just said" part.
  13. Honestly, I like it. You clearly put a lot of thought into this. I did find a typo though. Above this statement, you listed 5 different types. I also found it strange going from crystals to life forms to rocks to other life forms. If the organization works for you, great! That's what matters. It was just a bit hard to follow for me. The last critique I have is about Dawn Bringer. He seemed rather two dimensional, and his actions seemed kind of random. Overall though, well done!
  14. *wins again, but still for the first time.*
  15. Granted. You also cannot say anything that is sincere. I wish for a massive emerald gemheat.
  16. timeless
  17. Granted. He may lift a glass to anything in his mind, but he cannot actually touch glass. I wish for the ability to fly.
  18. A new person vetoed the veto. Because reasons.
  19. My callsign would probably be either "Emerald" or "Dragon Dragons are my favorite mythical/magical creatures. Emeralds are my favorite gemstone. They are my favorite gemstone because they are often my favorite color.
  20. Interesting theory. Honestly, I kind of like it. However, I see some big differences between the two. What Leras did to Ati made it so Ati couldn't affect the world in a big way. The Oathpact kept Odium trapped on Braize.
  21. Burn bronze? Worked for the inquisitors. In all seriousness though, would burning bronze let you detect a spren? I heard a WoB that said a seeker would be able to hear the rhythms.
  22. A few ways for this. 1. Charge travelers stormlight for goods. Any travelers (Example Azure/Vivenna) that go to the physical realm then want to go home will have to participate in the economy. Grabbing stormlight in the physical realm is pretty easy, and gives the travellers an easier time traveling through the CR. 2. Almost all stormlight is stored in perfect gemstones which don't leak. (As we see in Oathbringer. Chapter 102 I believe.) Stormlight that is brought in is almost always immediately traded in for "stormlight credits" as I am calling them. They work like banknotes or gold certificates did in the real world. At any time you can trade it in for the real thing. There is just more risk in CR because most gemstones leak. As Syl says in Oathbringer, (Same chapter as above.) the prices are based on how permanent the things are in the CR. Also, people selling wares always want you to think that you are getting a bargain even as they bleed you dry. Also, my brother just told me that the painting used to be in the Court of Gods. If that is true, then interplanetary trade would naturally increase the price tag.
