Mid-Range Game 42: The Auction of Lord Winsting
Zillah replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Ahhhh so many posts!!!!!! I’m sorry to all of you for dipping out, however I’m spending Friday-Sunday out bushcamping and I’ve been busy getting ready. So I won’t be here for most of next cycle and the next. My apologies to everyone, I will be back full swing after that! -
Mid-Range Game 42: The Auction of Lord Winsting
Zillah replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
At this point there were five pages of posts (which is a lot!) and I think there was more than ample evidence to make a more educated guess than "RNG", so I feel like this could be a less experienced elim using this as a way to possibly have a kind of "safe vote" for the cycle. This post feels very on the fence and back and forth, I don't quite know what to make of it other than maybe trying to stay in the middle ground to avoid being called out for strong opinions. I know infolynching has been discussed many times this cycle, but I felt like I should put my stance into the mix. I believe that gaining information should be a part of your reasoning for who you lynch, but not the sole reason. It is a factor, but if you make it the entire reason then the eliminators can quickly and fairly easily corrupt the information you may be getting. I disagree with this statement in this instance. Karnage's suspicion seems to involve Araris and Sart as an elim pair, and of the two Sart is clearly on the chopping block. So I can understand that they would want to put their vote on someone they thought was suspicous, especially since they can use the results to further analyse their suspicions of Araris. Why did you vote for the god king? @The_Archivist I don't like how they continuously avoided backing up their vote on Straw. They are right that there is not going to be perfect reasons, but Straw has been very active and there is a ton of pages of information and posts, so I think that they should have some reasoning and logic. This made me smile, I will forever think of them as Stabby Stabs! Ninja'd by Kynedath and Araris Valerian -
Mid-Range Game 42: The Auction of Lord Winsting
Zillah replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I would read this as slightly village - because to try a new plastyle in this sense as an elim is risky, even if you admit it to the village, and I feel like they would likely wait until their next game to do this if they were an eliminator, so slight village read there. Pretty NAI I think, its pretty typical of Elkanah to say things like this. (They did a very good job of confusing the heck out of me with this kind of stuff my first game!) Heh, me too. . .But SE is better. This rubs me the wrong way, as we aren't even halfway through the first cycle yet, and there isn't really a need to add that kind of pressure. I also don't think this could be excused as a way to spark discussion, as we are having plenty of that as is. As well, I believe I saw several of their posts in which they outlined different suspicions of theirs. I disagree with this being bandwagon-y, even if I don't think that their reasoning was sound for placing that vote. This game does have a three vote minimum for the D1 lynch. @Matrim's_Dice, could I ask what logic specifically says elim? And that's all for tonight - I essentially went through and picked posts I had thoughts about pretty instantly. I'll try and look some more at player's trends tomorrow. Edit: Ninja'd by Kynedath -

I think I can speak for a lot of the SE community when I say we’re glad to have you! New players are always wonderful to see. -
Mid-Range Game 42: The Auction of Lord Winsting
Zillah replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
@EmiIt’s day/night combined, meaning that within the 48 hours the eliminator team will decide who they want to kill (usually in a google doc they have access to) and then we will all vote on who to lynch in a thread like this one. They happen at the same time essentially. And you can check in and add your feedback any time in those 48 hours. It will hopefully make more sense once the game starts! -

Signing up as Lady Zephyr! This game looks so cool and quite different, I love it! -
I had a ton of fun, this was my first time being an eliminator as well. It’s so different being on that side

I don’t overly suspect anybody who is up for lynching. However looking back at more of Drake’s posts, as well as the lynch on Karnage the other day, I think I’m most suspicious of them right now. Drake

Vote Count: Drake Marshall: (4) Sart, Karnage, Amanuensis, The Archivist Karnage: (6) DrakeMarshall, Lord Silberfarben, Zillah, Kidpen, Karnage, JoeBush CadCom: (0) JoeBush

Karnage: (3) Drake, Lord Silberfarben, Zillah Drake: (2) Sart, Karnage CadCom: (1) Joe Bush I personally would rather a lynch happen, and as I outlined above I don't think there is any real basis for the Drake lynch. Karnage, My vote is on you for now, at least to break up the tie. If things change overnight then I might retract/change my vote. Ninja'd by CadCom. @CadCom I was coincidentally working on the lynch count when you ninja'd me.

I'm not sure how much I agree with the Drake lynch, I can see where the suspicion on them comes from. However they themselves said that they were working off of assumptions and even admitted that they suspected not everyone would agree. They are doing similar analysis that most players do, just in quite a unique fashion. I would be more suspicious if they couldn't back up their logic quite as well as they did. Outside of strict mafia, I think that the way they went about their logic is quite fascinating. As well I think that lynching them because they had such a high number of people on their trusted list and used that to influence their actions and voting, means we can essentially just lynch anybody who has a large number of people looped into a trusted category. It doesn't seem much different than having a list of every player, the same concept is there, it is just a different way of organising it and setting it up.

I don't like this, and not just because it's against me. I wasn't annoyed with Xino, I was trying to understand how the code system worked, because it wasn't making sense to me, and as for how I was talking to Xino about God King, I was honestly just trying to extend a hand to God King because of the situation the last game they played. And I related to their frustration when they said they felt overlooked because they hadn't been playing for years and years. I wanted to let them know they weren't alone and that their feelings were felt amongst others. EDIT: Megasif's vote on me feels a lot like they were trying to hide behind Joe Bush's logic, so they could get a vote in without having to say something that might make them suspicious, so for that I'm going to vote on them this cycle.
-
Hey! Posting so I don't die. Been busy in my personal life, but I’ll be back for the next cycle.
-
Couldn’t someone just copy the code? I don’t see how it makes a difference.
-
Hey, so I might be completely missing something. But I don’t see what the purpose of having a code at all is? Why not literally just have your name? I agree wholeheartedly with that, and overall I would say it’s NAI. God King and myself played our first game in SE together (QF42). And that was quite a while ago. So I feel your frustration.

Amila winced as she got out of bed, it still hurt, but the pain was fading as the lashings were finally healing. The lovely smell of beets filled her nose as she walked across the quaint room, realising she'd left the candle burning all night! Leaving her room once again, she saw the announcement of the people that had once again been elevated. Finally! Her name was there on the list! It seemed like all of the late nights and tedious papers had finally payed off. Unfortunately it didn't feel as victorious as it once would have, back when she was younger. The cloud of tension and fear resting over the campus and surrounding communities didn't help whatsoever either. Thinking back, she remembered the look she saw in Traelynn's eyes when the normally cheery girl asked about the people who had cracked, it held a sadness and a fear that sent shivers down Amila's spine. Thankfully the two had recovered. Amila was excited, and headed back to her room after breakfast. She put on one of the nicer outfits she had, still being weather appropriate of course. Her and Traelynn had scheduled a coffee date at one of the local shoppes. Amila was excited to show Traelynn her new variations of the beet candle. Some sweeter ones, some made from the greens, a slightly citrusy scented one, and of course ones made from those calming beets. Amila racked her brain looking for their technical name, but couldn't remember. She steeled herself before leaving her rooms, and the building, meeting the brisk cold weather.

Amila gratefully accepted the beet wine and winced as she sat down on one of the beet crates Traelynn had just set down, her injuries from the lashing hurt like nothing she had ever experienced. She glanced at her friend, and saw the worry in her eyes, she could tell that Traelynn didn't know what to say or do. However Amila was just glad she was back, she had really missed Traelynn whilst she was back at her farm, a feeling Amila was definitely not used to. "Thank you, this is really delicious, is it new?" Traelynn lit up like a christmas tree, man did she ever love her beets. Amila had to admit that she had grown incredibly fond of them as well. "By the way," she added, before Traelynn could go off on a beet tangent, "I missed you." And it was true, she had deeply missed her companion, many times she had just found herself staring into space wishing she was with Traelynn. Within a week she had run out of the beets Traelynn had left her. "Oh, and here you go" she said handing her a small package "I finished the project we talked about before you left."

Alright, I have been confused the entire game and I have conceded to asking. @Elandera @xinoehp512 @Devotary of Spontaneity @Karnage and @Experience, why are all of your icons all of a sudden becoming green? It is confusing the heck out of me.

. . .And my entire post has disappeared thanks to the WiFi crashing, again! Unfortunately not too much this cycle, as I only logged on to the shard recently and there is not much time left in the cycle. Right now I will place complaints on Burnt Spaghetti and Lord Silberfarben . The former is due to an off gut read I have gotten this entire game, and I do not quite know what is offsetting about them yet. The latter is due to their vote on Araris Valerian so early, they voted with complete certainty, and did not provide any single piece of reasoning as to why they did so. I will try and have more next cycle, but that will be all for now.

Amila watched one of the young men walk off after receiving a beet with barely a word. He seemed like a pretty typical noble, but then again she couldn't really judge too harshly, after all she had expected to act much different when she first met Traelynn. However at least she would have been slightly more polite about it. Sighing she focused back on the conversation at hand, just in time to hear the other young noble pointedly ask her a question. She paused, had she seen them? Yes, she had, but only briefly. The idea of talking to someone else quickly chased away all of the smiley warm fuzzy feelings she had from earlier. She looked over at Traelynn briefly, which somehow reassured her. "Yeah, you probably have. I guess I've seen you too." She pushed out far more words than she wanted to, but it was easier than having to answer another question or two. It did help slightly that this noble seemed to look down on her less than most did. She glanced at the man who was walking away, and momentarily let herself wonder what his deal might be.

The corner of Amila's lip turned up in the faintest hint of a smile as Traelynn finished her most recent ramble. Traelynn's presence had definitely surprised her, but for once it felt good to be in the company of another person. She had to admit, she seemed to have taken a liking to this girl, more than she had with any other person for years. She was about to answer at least a few of the many questions when suddenly Traelynn's head shot up. Before she knew what was going on she was beign dragged by the arm! Confusion filled her mind, but the small smile on her face persisted. She gripped the puzzle boz tightly in her hand so as not to drop it as they weaved through the people. Man this girl was full of energy and surprises. Before Amila knew it, she was standing beside Traelynn and a couple of noblemen. "Oh this is fantastic" she thought to herself "a bunch of stuck up rich kids". Traelynn began her sales pitch, and Amila was once again taken aback by the enthusiasm a single person could have for beets. . . gorguous delicious beets. The word "Partner" threw Amila for a loop, and filled her with a warm fuzzy feeling. She was beginning to feel very confused about what this girl was doing, could this be the seedlings for her first real friendship? The hope began to build before she could attempt to quell it. All she could do now was see how things ended out, and hope that it ended well.

"Finally!" Amila shouted gleefully as the last wooden pieces slid into place and the box opened. She glanced around the room quickly, to make sure nobody had heard her. Thankfully this corner of the university's library was empty, which made sense given the titles surrounding her. At the centre of the box was a small wooden trinket, the prize for solving the puzzle, but for Amila the prize was the feeling of accomplishment when she was completed. For some reason she felt a small urge to share this victory with someone, a feeling that took her by complete surprise. Shaking her head she pushed the feeling to the back of her mind. What replaced it was that energetic beet lady, Traelynn. "I'm just hungry I guess." She muttered under her breath, after all that beet had been delicious. Quickly she stopped off at her room and grabbed a new, smaller puzzle box, as well as her coin purse. Walking through the brisk air Amila made her way down to the stairs where she had last seen the beet lady. When she arrived, and saw only an empty staircase she felt a pang of sadness that she couldn't quite place. Sighing, she went over to the bench she had sat at the previous day, and began to work on solving the box. @Kynedath

The young woman looked at her expectantly, and Amila cursed herself for being unable to form words. Why did people have to be so darn difficult and complicated? Part of her regretted moving from the isolated safety, but the beautiful beet in her hand almost convinced her it was worth it. It had definitely convinced her stomach though! She half expected the woman to go off on another tangent about these strange foods. She had never seen someone so invested in a mere vegetable, although admittedly they looked absolutely exquisite. Amila could feel the eyes of some of the noble men and women staring them down, almost as if they were comparing them to the rats that scurried around the marketplace floors back home. Something about this woman seemed to intrigue Amlia more than most others did. Finally she managed to get the words "I'm Amila Tays, I'm going to be attending the university, and I'm guessing you will be as well. What would your name be?" She internally breathed a sigh of relief, she may hate human interaction, but the cheery girl seemed pleasant enough, and she had of course been trained her whole life to be socially competent when she needed to be.

Amila Tays sat on a small wooden bench near the pond that sat just below the university. She didn't know how long she had been sitting there staring at the wooden puzzle box. It was beautifully crafted, and apparently quite difficult to open! She cursed under her breath as yet another wooden piece refused to slide. She loved her puzzle boxes as frustrating as they were. It was an extraordinarily more pleasant way to spend her time than attempting to interact with other people. This one in particular was very special to Amila , after all it was from - She was starteled out of her thoughts when another young woman very loudly plopped a crate on the nearby stairs. The woman began advertising beets, an odd vegetable in Amila's eyes. Looking back down at the puzzle she tried to block out the woman's voice. However not long after she felt her stomach growl, she couldn't quite recall the last time she had eaten. With a huff she got up and began walking towards the beet lady with a small coin in her hand, at least they were beets, not something dreadful like carrots. She braced herself for the dreadful experience of having to talk to someone. @Kynedath thanks for the RP!
