  1. Oh, that makes a lot of sense. Thanks.
  2. For some reason, my post count won't change. I don't know if this is because early posts are vanishing (that would be a bit difficult to find out) or if it's just stuck. Unless old content is vanishing, it doesn't seem to be interfering with anything else. I figured I would let you know and see if anyone else is having that problem. Edit: It did just go up when I posted that, but it hasn't been going up for a while before? Strange.
  3. Kiss Wax, couldn't be that bad, marry Lightsong, because that relationship would be mostly a technicality anyway and he would probably be cool about it, kill Wyndle, not because I don't like him, but because I can't, so it's fine. Eshonai, Wayne, and Glys. It's fine if we have repeats right? This would die pretty fast without them and I'm pretty sure I've been seeing them.
  4. I'm cool with it though most people don't know me, just putting that out there. Who knows, it might come up later. I don't know one of the people in this one so I can't think of what to do for it. lol I don't want to kill you for not knowing you.
  5. Global Drum Project! It's so good, I discovered it years ago and have never gotten enough of it.
  6. Rereading the series in preparation for RoW, and there are finer points I missed, as well as some things to keep in mind that Brandon does better or differently than others (the man is seriously brilliant) that contribute, so I'll be revisiting this. And probably overthinking it.
  7. Sleepthief's new album, and by new I mean most recent, Mortal Longing. The last time I heard anything of theirs was in 2011.
  8. When I saw this earlier I missed the fact that there was an entire new page and a third clue, lol. But yeah she got it first.
  9. So here are some points at different times in recent history. This isn't all of mine: Eshonai finding out about Gavilar's plans, or at least part of them: Absolutely agreed that it was in the interests of others to gather information first. But they didn't. Why didn't they? Fear, probably. They're culturally conditioned to fear certain circumstances. Our present times show that fighting millennia of cultural conditioning is not easy, even for those with the best intentions for everyone. Second: They should have sent an assassin in a more devious manner. They didn't do that. Brandon doesn't always have the best people interactions, but he's smart enough to get this. (By which I mean sometimes I can feel like I'm reading something scripted. Not that he is not the Brandon levels of brilliant we know and love.) What is he saying? He's saying that this culture considers assassination as something to be done in the open. What does that say about this culture? What does that say about where they came from? I always got the feeling they resented certain forms of deception, but I could be reading into it. I never spent much energy crying over Eshonai and Dalinar's missed negotiation opportunities. I did, briefly, at first. But by the time they were ready to do that, other forces were at work--political figures scared on the Alethi side, Venli already planning for stormform. We could go back to the early days of negotiation, or back to the days of the treaty, and say, "Yes they should have done this differently." They didn't. So by the time that it was urgent, Venli had to make a decision for an entire people that she had no right to make, and she was blinded by Ulim. My question remains: Roughly a thousand Listeners, one of the Five included, droppped down a ladder into a chasm and disappeared. Stormform, Voidspren influenced Eshonai assumes ah they're all dead. If Brandon has taught me anything in his Sandersoning, it is never to underestimate anyone. A missed detail might be a missed detail, but it's just as likely to be Sanderson plotting for the future. I don't think we've seen the last of them, in a far more concrete way than Venli or Rlain reflecting on the doomed world they lost.
  10. I feel like someone guessed Aesudan? I could go unconventional and also guess Veil. So I will do that.
  11. Can we get a complete list of clues? I think I've missed one.
  12. Kaenn? I don't remember if she dies, to be honest. In that last big battle scene, so many people die.
  13. My bad. I must have missed the response to your sheet. I thought for some reason that I had only seen one for the other one that's up right now, forget at the moment whose it is, and thought maybe they'd missed it. lol!
  14. There's another sheet, short and simple above that exchange, the person just forgot to tag anyone. They put it in character discussion though and I couldn't think of much. It's kind of one of those characters you need to build from the ground up, because of his history. @Lord_Silberfarben My input is this: If you want to rise to that challenge, it could be interesting, but it could take a lot of energy. Those characters, to me are fields of potential but they are often left fallow due to the energy it takes to roleplay a person building themself. I'm not sure if that's what you wanted to do with him, that was just what I took away from it. If you want to keep talking about him and try to give him more time, events, things he's remembered, processed etc. I'd be happy to go back to character discussion with you, otherwise tagging mods in case they missed your sheet. @I think I am here. @Sorana
  15. You can go hit edit beneath your post, and you should be able to either put your tags at the top or the bottom of the text that's already there. Note that if the Shard forces them inside your spoiler, they don't work, tags don't work in spoilers I found recently.
  16. Yay, now there are three of us. Brandon does this a lot and it's one of the reasons why I appreciate him. He's got all kinds of disabled people, people who have always been that way, people who become that way, people who handle it well, people who don't, people who heal, and also people who don't but still go on to do amazing things. Like in the world.

  18. So it's a bit complicated. Somewhere I saw a really good description of it, let me see if I can find it now. I'm not at all sure how you're supposed to quote a post from another thread, so this might break. But here's R J's post from a topic about this. Their names are a bit complicated magi-socio-politically Parshendi is the exonym, given to the Listeners living on the Shattered Plains by the Alethi The Listeners themselves are a subgroup which diverged from the Singers long ago (see WoR, Eshonai's mother's songs, or Rlain in OB differentiating between his people, the Listeners, and the wider Singers) The Listeners were a group, previously called the Last Legion that fled from the Fused by giving up their Forms of Power and taking on Dullform (which protected them during the False Desolation when Melishi imprisoned the Unmade Ba-Ado-Mishram and accidentally transformed the Singers into what modern Rosharans call the Parshmen (and the Listeners call the Slaveform)) The Singers is a term that refers to their species which was used during the time when they were a part of Odium's forces. The Listeners prefer to call themselves, well, the listeners rather than singers. This is also probably where the term Dawnsingers came from. So basically this is why I've been using Singer even though even that will probably not be correct. It looks like they'll have to forge their future, there's nothing left of the past that someone didn't/still doesn't take advantage of. RoW is going to be. Interesting. @Lord_Silberfarben
  19. I like it! I admit I might be somewhat biased, as Nnimm is essentially the only Singer of any description around. Which reminds me, off topic question to the rest of the thread: Have there ever been mention of NPC Singers in Alleycity? What's their presence, if any? Based on that description, I imagine their interactions would be interesting. They don't have their memories of Roshar because of fake Alleyverse. Oof. Anyway, what skillsets are you thinking he should have? Has he essentially always been used to lug stuff around? Puny humans, heh. How old is he and how long has it been since the Everstorm for him? There's some timeline weirdness with Nnimm, I think my original timeline for them essentially has them ahead of the books but not by much. @Lord_Silberfarben
  20. @Sorana @I think I am here. Here is Dot's slightly less tentatively posted character sheet.
  21. Honestly I can't think of a single person or group you couldn't do music for, even in this style. You could make incredibly warm, vibrant textures or huge icy vistas of sound or furious staccato crashes of minor chords, you could go all over the place. I love this. I want it on so many of my playlists. I want to sing its praises to the internet. I'm not even exaggerating.
  22. For people wanting to build systems, I live in one and have for pretty much as long as I can remember. It's a small but stable functioning community, and it's seen its share of rough patches over the years. We also know a lot of other systems, and have resources so you can see just how much variety there really is between systems. But there's also that. There's so much variety--systems of people who blend into a greater whole, systems of branches which are semi independent, systems of wholly separate individuals who lead different lives, systems based in trauma, systems which aren't, systems that are safe, systems that are getting there, systems that are broken. Systems that are combinations of some of these things. So you could really go all over the place with it. Hollywood's evil side lurking beneath your mind ready to take over and ruin your life depiction is actually pretty uncommon and way more complex than they ever describe. There's a lot of potential to work with when portraying systems, and if you want to look into that, whether it's to glance in or dive in, prior to creating sheet(s) for one, I'm happy to help. -Feather
  23. Welcome! Don't feel bad. My intro was about five miles long and contained a massive list of musical references on top of that.
