"Oh... how?"

"Oh, then I've really gone crazy. Am I still with the colonel? What's going on?"

"That'd be great," said Cruz, "Any chance you know where my weapons are? I think I've got a granola bar in one."

"Oh, yeah. Torture? That must hurt," said Cruz, still not 100% there, "I need a lawyer."

"Okay," Cruz said, "Maybe I haven't eaten in a bit, while doing a lot of exhausting and draining things." He leaned on the wall nearby to steady himself. "Anyway... how've you been?"

"Stop!" yelled Orpheus, "In the name of the rightful owner of this tower, Valzwyn!"

Cruz burst back to consciousness. "I'm okay!" he said, a little delirious. "Just a little hungry."

"What... Trace???" he asked, incredulous. He then proceeded to pass out through lack of proper nutrition.

Stars, he might regret this, but it seemed right to be honest here. "Of course I do," he hissed, so no one else would hear.

"And how do you know this?" Cruz asked, "Where is the Queen?" His breathing was faster and close to shallow now, and the room spun.

Cruz stopped suddenly and concern showed on his face. "The [redacted] did you just say?"

"I'm quite hungry," Cruz noted, offhand. He was feeling a little light-headed.

Cruz fell silent. The true answer was he wasn't really sure, but he was trying to get an easy court case. "I have the right to remain silent, correct? When do I get to speak to my lawyer?"

"The lucky people are those who truly connect with me, know me for who I am, and do not care."

Cruz narrowed his eyes. "Why are you asking me this?"

"Not none," he agreed.

"I've cared for very few," Cruz answered.

"Flip sides?" he laughed, "I am my own man."

"The weapons," Cruz repeated, "Are very important to me. I just want to be sure they are not being mistreated."

"Well, hello there," said Cruz, "Anyone happen to know where my weapons went? I can't let the colonel keep them."

"Well, I can't wait to get turned over to the law enforcement then," Cruz said with a hint of sarcasm.

"Probably not. And I don't think she has direct control over the law enforcement, much less the justice system."

"She did help me to do that, yes," said Cruz, "though I'd still say the choice was my own."
