The world came back slowly. First, it was in sounds. A low chatter, footsteps on the cobblestones. Somewhere, someone was singing and playing a harp. It was a calming tune. And then it was in feel. She was sitting up, something hard against her back. Her hands rested on the ground, and it was cold. Then it was through movement. Her fingers curled, and she shifted her weight. The final thing would be sight, to open her eyes. But that meant leaving... whatever this place was. This nice in-between where dark thoughts were kept at bay. She wondered where she was. It seemed and a bit colder than usual. Was she outside? Had her companions left her? She thought she could hear two voices, a girl’s and a man’s with a heavy accent, but she couldn’t be sure. She shifted again, and her body protested. Her legs and back were stiff from being in the same position for too long. That song, with its gentle melody and soft harmony, called to her. It’s time to wake up, it seemed to say. Ana opened her eyes with a start, falling back into the real world. It was night now, the moon casting silvery light onto the square. There was blood on her hands — no. Think about that later. Suddenly, her stomach rumbled loudly, and out of all the things she wanted to say, the only word that came out was “Food.”

Granted, but you break your leg instead. I wish for the power to summon edible, delicious food in a sealed container into my hands at any time. -

The Nightwatcher blinks at you. “Uhhhh... what?” She asks you to repeat your request, and frantically types it into google behind her back. No results. So she decides to give you a hula hoop and a bane that your tongue may fall out if you speak too much (don’t worry, you can put it back in). (But seriously, what is an exodihodron polyheadral Squinkele? I tried googling it, and couldn’t get anywhere) I wish that I could meet characters from the cosmere (provided they won’t kill anyone). -

Thanks Ene! (Is it okay if I call you Ene?). That means a lot Plot twist: I actually suck at RPing (not to reject your compliment or anything, I'm just absolutely horrible at accepting them) -

Behold, here is St Sanderson/Brandon Santason! He comes bearing gifts too! I got a bit carried away, but oh well. A testament to the fact that I have way too much free time on my hands. Disclaimer: I never actually said that I was good at using photoshop. I was originally going to have him on a night sky background with some mist effects and the sleigh being pulled by skyeels, but I couldn't find any decent free photos. -

As our good friend Hoid once said, the value of art rests not on the number of people that believe it is art, but instead on the fact that there is someone who believes in the first place. Therefore it’s art and you can’t change my mind. Though I am curious to see how it would turn out in photoshop. It’ll take me a while, but I’ll see what I can do. -
Ana's hand was still on the knife hilt buried in the urchin's chest. She knelt over the body, looking down at its now lifeless eyes. Her eyes trailed down to the knife, and she stared. What had she done? This is wrong, this is wrong, this is wrong. She gagged, tilted her head to the side and retched. Only bile came out. Someone said something, but Ana didn't hear. She stood up -- too fast. Darkness blocked her vision, and she was dizzy. She reached out, but there was nothing. Then she was falling, falling...

Since we’ve got a release date for Stormlight 4, what are some things you hope will happen? What things do you want to see? Of course it’s good not to get our hopes up too much. We may get a book completely different than what we expected (as was the case for me with Oathbringer), but it’s fun to think about things that could happen. Personally, I really want Vasher and Nightblood to reunite. I guess it’s kind of inevitable (although Urithiru is a big place), but if it does happen, I hope it happens on screen (bonus points if Vivenna shows up). Another thing I’d like to see is more Ghostbloods, and more about Roshar’s secret societies in general. I’m pretty sure Mraize only showed up for about ten pages of Oathbringer, which kind of annoyed me at the time, because he’s one of my favourite characters.

Ophelia... she was right. He was hurt. He needed help. But... she was hurt as well. She needed help. She lifted her head and looked from Ophelia to Aoryen, one saying they needed to help the urchin, and one saying that he should die. Her head... her head was spinning. Sounds and words and faces all circling around. You just hacked them into pieces and killed them! Y’know what we do to break the Code? We've got to help him. It's okay, they're dead. All dead. I mean without a hand, he will starve and - This next one is all yours. The urchin with the stump-arm looked at her, eyes wide with terror. He tried to lay still, but spasms rippled through his body. Ana's fingers twitched, and she stood up and walked over to him. Maybe someone called out to her, but she couldn't hear them. Her pulse, roaring in her ears, and her breath, quick but steady, made up her universe. She stood above the urchin, watching him. He was clutching his wrist, tears in his eyes. Ophelia was right. He would die without that hand. Help him, a voice said in her head. If you help him, another voice said. What will he do? Destroy the lives of even more people? Involuntarily, her eyes flicked to knife still lying on the ground. Its blade was clean, untainted by blood. The world swayed - or maybe that was her. They took everything. Even when you had nothing, they kept coming back for more. Slowly, she bent down and picked up the knife, her hand wrapped so tightly around the hilt that her knuckles went white. She shook violently as she stood up and stared down at the urchin. He was afraid of her. Good. Had they ever known what it was like to cower in fear like she had? Had they ever thought about the pain they had caused her? Looking into that urchin's eyes, she smiled. And then she plunged the knife into his heart.

Ana opened her eyes slowly. The world was a blur of strange shapes, whirling around too fast for her to see. She pushed herself into a sitting position as everything came back into focus. Aoryen stood in the centre of the alley, and... Oh gods, the bodies. They were everywhere. Ana brought trembling hands to her face as she took in the sight before her. An urchin lay to her left, staring listlessly up at the sky. On the wall above him, blood slowly trickled down. On her right, another urchin lay, a bright red slash on his neck. She was shaking violently, and she frantically looked around, trying to find one spot free from the bloodshed, and the death, and the suffering. And then one of the bodies moved. Ana screamed and tried to scramble away, but the alley wall blocked her, its solidity reminding her that this was real. Distantly, Aoryen's words came back to her. I'll let them take care of ye'. But she couldn't... she didn't... Her screams died off into soft whimpers, and she buried her head in her hands and wept.

The world had become red. Ophelia had let out a piercing scream, and there was blood. Aoryen had swung, and there was a hand. There was an urchin missing a hand and he was on the ground shaking. Ophelia plunged her scissors into another urchin. There was blood there too. The two urchins holding Ana let go of her and spun around. She crumpled to the dirt. One of them drew a knife and together they lunged at Aoryen. She didn't want to look at what happened next. She shut her eyes and recited a prayer in her head.

Yayyyyy gen 5!!! This is actually pretty hard... Do I have to pick just one? If I had to pick I'd go with Chandelure. I don't even really know why I love it so much, but I do. Piplup, Serperior, and pretty much all of the other ghost types are a very close second though. I'd like to join the PM if that's all right. I've only been here for a short time but this doesn't surprise me . -
Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
The Awakened Salad replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
(Same here) Granted, the Nightwatcher reverses time and the fifth dlc character is revealed. It’s the character you’ve always dreamed about being in Smash. However, Sakurai wanted to do something different with this character, and they are only playable using a Wii remote. (I struggled to think of a bane because every time I thought of one, I’d think “No! That’s too terrible! Imagine if it actually happened!”) I wish that I would get out of my reading slump. -
As one of the urchins made a move towards Ophelia, the other two came for Ana. She scrambled away, tears flowing freely now. The forgotten deck of cards was strewn all over the ground, dull flashes of colour in this horrible monochrome world. She willed her legs to move faster, but they rebelled, and instead gave way. Ana fell to the ground in a heap. A rough pair of hands locked around her wrists, and she was yanked up and slammed against an alley wall. Her head felt like it had been cracked open, and she cried out. If she had her Breath, she could’ve outrun them. She wouldn’t be so tired... The two urchins smirked at her as they pinned her to the wall. “Not so high and mighty now, are ya, rich girl?”
