Well, characters have not yet been approved, but if we assume that a good portion of them will be okayed, how do we want to do this? @Stormlightsong has a spy that wishes to be redeemed for his dishonorable past You have a nerdy forger, who doesn’t seem to have much in the way of current direction I have a power hungry semi inquisitor that has *trauma* and anger issues @Ravenclawjedi42 has a character which it think might get knocked down for having a character related to a book that has not yet breached quarantine aaand then no one else has submitted a character to the era 6 character thread. So once more people have characters, and everyone that has a character has a good idea of what is keeping their character going in the Alleyverse and why they haven’t just left, then we can bring formulating plot. I apologize if I sound harsh. That’s not really my intention. Just…if we want to revive the Alleyverse RP, we need solid 3 dimensional characters that have a reason to be here and some sort of goal or mission that we can play off of. How about this? Once we have 5 characters that are at least submitted to the board that each have their own interests, motives, and goals in Alleycity, we can start discussing how they will be overlapping to create a plot.

It seems I have a few dissenters! I think you folks make valid points, and it’ll definitely go into my considerations when I ranke em all. Daily Feruchemy Analysis Day 13: F-Cadmium I mean, this is just poor man’s F-Gold. There are a few cases where this is better, but I’m most cases, it’s just worse gold. Also, storing is absolutely abysmal. Can you imagine having to hyperventilate constantly? Rating: 5/10. I’d be happy if I had it, but would rather have so many other things.

Daily Feruchemy Analysis Day 12: F-Duralumin Alrighty. This one is certainly an interesting one. So interesting that there’s a whole (now sadly vacant) cult dedicated to it! Connection is such a vague thing, which is what makes this an exceptionally fun metal. It’s probably one of the best for a worldhopper to have, but even without that, it’s quite nice. Storing it let’s you move about undetected, and tapping lets you make friendships with people insanely quickly. Who needs emotional allomancy when you got friendship magic! I think this is a very good metal, but it seems to be a bit mid for not political/diplomatic purposes. Like-when are you going to use this in a fight, or just in daily life? It’s cool, yeah, but weirdly narrow. Rating: 7.5/10. Definitely nice, but I feel like it would be weirdly useless to a lot of people and occupations.

Perses’ Villain Arc

Daily Feruchemy Analysis Day 11: F-Aluminum So F-Aluminum stores spiritual identity, which is…interesting. We know it gives unkeyed metalminds, but past that, we don’t really know what having an empty spiritual identity, or an overfull spiritual identity is. Sooooo I don’t know what to do here. I mean, unkeyed metalminds are pretty cool, so that’s nice. But I can’t really create a rating based off of that. Any suggestions and theories are welcome, but I’m at a bit of a loss.

Well, do you have a character idea in mind? I’ve generally based my character names around their personality and powers. Like Perses is the Greek Titan of destruction and peace. The thought behind the name was that Perses was quite malleable, and I could see him becoming a great hero or great villain. As you can probably infer, I decided to make him a villain, but when I first forged him, it was not a certainty. The most important thing is to get a character that you love, and I think the name will fall into place. And an open invitation to everyone, my dms are open for character scheming and suggestions, and I’d be more than happy to help. I can’t guarantee I’ll be any good, but it’s always helpful to have the option of someone nudging you along. I think that would be just fine, so long as you can get the character approved. However, this biggest thing (and this applies to everyone really) is that right now we need commitment. And I get that that’s something that won’t be a certainty until you try out your character, but it’s important that while making a character, you make sure to flesh them out. Make them feel real. A character that is just a cool party trick will not get you very far when all of the roleplay is going to be you telling a story with another person. Forum roleplay is a lot different than tabletop roleplay. This is cooperative storytelling, not D&D. There’s no stats, there’s no leveling up. Everything is nebulous, and that makes things so much harder. You don’t have to stick with a character, but playing a character that plays a big role in a plot line and realizing a third of the way through that the character is not very interesting to roleplay is exactly how the Alleyverse died out in the first place. Give your characters life, and think of this as creative writing, not D&D.

Of course! The more people we have, the more likely we can keep the Alleyverse alive. From what I understand, we’re trying to get a few characters in by Monday, so we have some people available to craft a character-driven plot. From there, other later joiners can either form their own side group or fit into the plot as loosely outlined. Plans are currently not concrete, and we only have a few people that are scheming. I think myself and some others are on the way to making our characters for an upcoming plot scheming. Feel free to join, feel free to wait. We are more than happy to have more folks along for the ride!

You know what, until there’s a better answer, I’ll just agree with what you said! Luck is good, and unluck is bad. Daily Feruchemy Analysis Day 10: F-Nicrosil So as we know, this one is interesting. It is the key (heh) to unsealed metalminds, and has a lot of things about it that we just don’t know. Now. Is it any good in its own? No. Not at all. Rubbish. But I’ll be bending the rules for this one a little bit, because I don’t think this is a metal that was envisioned to be seen in isolation. So. F-Nicrosil stores Investiture. From what we understand, it specifically stores innate Investiture. The ability to do the magic. It’s then stored away to be used later. Does it replenish over time? If a twinborn stores their ability to to their allomantic thing and waits a while, will they just organically be able to do allomancy again? This WoB seems to say that it doesn’t work like that, but this was written in 2018, so things could very much have changed. assuming it works like that, it is still just kinda useless except for if you are a full feruchemist. However, Brando Sando also said that medallion Nicrosil is “more restrictive”. So, let’s assume, for the sake of fun and the sake of interesting, that your ability to use your magic replenishes over time. I’d guess that it would have something to do with spiritual identity, but it doesn’t really matter. However, I would guess that no matter how it would replenish, it isn’t something that just happens overnight. So this is a longer-storing attribute that you gather over time. so what does tapping it do? I would assume that it would enhance your ability. Make you get more bang for your buck. Generally, if you have an ability to enhance, this would be pretty dope. Now, however long it takes to regain the ability to do the magic would also be the amount of time it would take to have your ability’s strength go back to normal. So this isn’t a super short term buff either. With that in mind, I’ll be giving this interpretation of F-Nicrosil a 7.5. It has potential to be higher or lower, depending on the power, but for most powers, this seems like a good deal. Lose out on your abilities for a while only to have them come back stronger. Now, this is only one of about 20 interpretations of how F-Nicrosil works. If you have a better interpretation that you would like to offer (or if you have some extra secret knowledge *cough cough* @alder24), then please do comment!

@Voidus how would you like me to update Perses?
-
I think that would certainly help! Obviously people have lives, and spending time to formulate a character for a random forum roleplay is not the highest on their list of priorities, but if a few of us have characters chosen, we can start formulating a plot that the stragglers can fit into.
-
Well, I can certainly get my Perses updated (no clue how I would formalize that) within a few days. Probably having the weekend to forge characters would be beneficial.
-
I feel like to make a plot, we need characters. And to make sure the characters are fun enough to roleplay that they’ll stick around. I certainly have some updating to do on Perses, but I think knowing what pieces we’re playing with can help give direction to a plot.

Daily Feruchemy Analysis Day 9: F-Chromium oookay. We’re getting into the spicy stuff. So. F-Chromium. When storing, you will be “unlucky”. When tapping, you will be more “lucky”. I’m putting those in quotes, because we know that Fortune in the Cosmere is more than just luck. It’s a small form of seeing the future, and it’s powerful. How powerful? We don’t really know. For the average Ferring, however, luck should do. I think this one is relatively harmless to store and very powerful to tap. How useful is it? I don’t know. I don’t really understand how this version of Fortune works, to be honest. Rating: 8/10. I don’t know what it does, but I know that it is good.
-
Mmm good points. however, I think the last part of that WoB seems to imply that Brandon envisioned it giving you a good night’s rest. Now, he might have since changed it, but this seems to give credit to my interpretation. However, your other points still stand. What does 300% wakefulness work? That’s certainly something to think about.
-
Daily Feruchemy Analysis Day 8: F-Bronze Aaaand now we’re back to less exciting. It helps ya sleep, it helps ya stay awake. From what I understand, it’s pretty cut and dry. Is it useful? Of course! Is it powerful? Eh, not really. It’s the only metalmind you can fill in your sleep, so it is objectively the easiest metalmind to store. I’ll give it that. Rating: 6/10. Nice, but not fantabulous. It’s above a 5 because it is the best at storing, and that is pretty cool. Plus, I think everyone would be more than happy to have the abilities of F-bronze at any given time.
-
So I have this character called Perses who is an A-Bronze F-Tin Twinborn. He’s fully blind, so is not used to sight, and so has become (along with the help of reverse compounding) a bit of an F-Tin savant. He’s had a bit of experience carrying around breaths, so there’s that too. I think it would be pretty cool if in some time skip (doesn’t need to be much more than like 3 months) he became a villain-type and gained both an A-Iron and A-steel spike, as well as maybe reaching fifth heightening. He could act as a somewhat big bad, with the main intent of gaining a foothold in the Alleyverse underground, while being untethered to a guild.
-
Holy hell! I didn’t even consider being able to reread and rewatch things! And then you could compare your thoughts on each reread, which would be a cool indicator of how you’ve grown.
-
Daily Feruchemy Analysis Day 7: F-Copper Well, this is well regarded to be one of the best Feruchemantic metals. And frankly, I think it’s for good reason. Immediate memory recall is really handy. Now admittedly, it isn’t constant memory recall, as you still have to access it, but it’s still really solid. It won’t make you good at everything, as a lot of skills are improved by constant use, but has there not been F-Tin, I would say this is the most versatile feruchemantic metal. Rating: 8.5/10. Really good. It doesn’t increase your physical capabilities, but it enhances your mental capabilities so much that it more than makes up for that. I mean, as huge nerds that crave lore, we’re all pretty biased towards this one

The F-Gold Health Cult (Mistborn Spoilers)
Koloss17 replied to Voidmaker's topic in Social Groups, Clans, & Guilds
You propose an interesting idea. However, as the head of the F-Tin cult, I have some questions. As a believer of health and goodness, how does the cult reconcile the fact that to obtain proper resistance to disease and injury, you must first be more susceptible to disease and illness? And how would you recommend to your members on the best places and times to store health? I will be keeping a close eye on the development of this organization. I will keep careful watch, and see whether you are to be an ally or a rival. For the time being, I have no reason to oppose your cult, as we appear to have different goals in mind. -
Join the social guilds! That’s where mine is located.
-
Mmm. Now I’m looking forward to F-Cadmium day!

Daily Feruchemy Analysis Day 6: F-Brass Tgis one is actually pretty cool. Obviously being able to artificially regulate your own temperature is very nice for daily life, but is also great for first responders. Either in the dead of winter or against the greatest of fires, you are there to help. Also, the idea of a super heated or super cooled hand to hand fight also seems quite fun. Is it as powerful as F-Pewter or F-Zinc? I don’t know. However, it seems to be a lot more fun, so I’ll put it just above em for now. Rating: 7.5/10 and I do apologize for the very short and snappy posts, but for the last few posts I’ve basically rushed to get em down last moment. And frankly, at least for these ones, the analysis is pretty low. I mean, how much can ya really do with regulating body temp besides the obvious? Not too much. At least I don’t think so….
-
Daily Feruchemy Analysis Day 5: F-Zinc Honestly, I like mental speed a lot more than physical speed. Perhaps that’s because I’m a massive nerd, but it seems a lot cooler. However, it does have the same drawbacks as F-steel, maybe even worse. Actually, which is worse? Thinking slower than your body can move or moving slower than you can think? Rating: For now I’ll give it the same rating as steel. It’s great when tapping, a nightmare when storing. 7/10.
-
Yeah, I think a Brute is going to be very reliant on people not knowing they are a Brute. Once the jig is up, they are a lot less effective. But that’s not to say that they aren’t a threat!
-
Daily Feruchemy Analysis Day 4: F-Pewter Admittedly, this one is a bit limited. Don’t get me wrong, it is cool as Trell, but I frankly think there’s limited returns. You can be extra strong, but other than lifting heavy things and being intimidating, strength only does so much in a world of coinshots. However, that is not one of the hardest to store, as often just sitting down doesn’t require much in the way of muscle mass. Overall, unless there’s a secret use past beating bodybuilding competitions, I feel that it’s a fairly middle of the road metal. Better than A-Pewter, probably, but not by a whole lot. Rating: 7/10. Not bad, just not the greatest.
